On a regular day, this super popular restaurant is always packed. It was particularly busy on this Friday. I love chicken liver, so I couldn't resist ordering it! My friend's favorite tsukune is a must-order. I also wanted to try a little bit of everything. The chicken liver was cooked perfectly and went so well with alcohol. I could eat it forever. The tsukune with egg yolk was the best and unbeatable. It had been a while since my last visit, but the food was consistently delicious. I will definitely come back again. Thank you for the complimentary Pino on my way out. So happy! ⊂((・x・))⊃

During the 3-day weekend of the Gion Festival, we were only able to secure a seat for 2 hours after the restaurant opened. It took a little while for the food and drinks to come out after the restaurant filled up, but everything was delicious and satisfying. We mainly ordered dishes with sauce, which were not too sweet or too spicy, just right. We ordered a lot more than what is shown in the photos, but even after eating and drinking to our heart's content, the total bill was not as high as we expected, so it's great value for money. This is definitely one of the restaurants I would like to visit again.

In the vicinity of Shijo and Karasuma, it was hard to find a yakitori restaurant that is easy to make a reservation at and suitable for everyday use... This time, I went to Chabuya for the first time! Cheers with a beer first!
- Salted cabbage: I wish there was a bit more sauce on it! And the core was too hard, making it a bit difficult to eat... I would prefer a bit more seasoning...
- Yakitori skewers: The chicken liver was cooked to a nice balance of dryness and moistness. I personally like it more rare, but it's difficult to achieve that... However, they have achieved the maximum moistness! They are small in size, but perfect for me since my companion doesn't eat much.
- Shishito peppers and bonjiri: These were average. The flavor and texture of the shishito peppers and bonjiri were excellent! They were slightly burnt, crispy on the outside, and juicy inside. The greasiness in these yakitori is what I love.
- Skin: The skin here is unique. It's tough and crunchy, providing a good chew. While many places have soft and chewy skin, this one is different. I prefer the soft and chewy kind, so I was a bit disappointed. (This is personal preference)
- And the best was the tsukune! The minced meat is coarse, giving it a satisfying texture. It has a nice chewiness from the cartilage. You can choose between salt, cheese, and sauce, but I didn't know and ended up with salt. Later, I thought cheese would have been better! But the salt was also good. The tsukune is a must-try.
- Chuhai Pink Grapefruit: Looks amazing!! The visual presentation is great! I was thrilled that it wasn't syrupy.
After eating all that, the bill came out to a little over 5000 yen for two people. I found a great restaurant. I will definitely come back.

I made a same-day reservation and was able to go since it was a weekday. I was seated at a prime seat by the counter where the skewers were grilled right in front of me. You can order skewers starting from 2 pieces. I wanted to try a lot of different ones, so I ordered a variety. The negima (green onion and chicken) had a good balance of textures. The chicken skin was chewy with a nice bounce. The tsukune (chicken meatballs) had a crispy exterior and a juicy interior. The shiitake mushrooms were thick and satisfying to eat. Everything was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

When I can go to Kyoto on a business trip, I always make sure to visit my favorite yakitori restaurant. Originally, I discovered it at a different sister store that has since closed, so I started coming here instead. I especially love the hormone skewers. It's always crowded, so reservations are a must.

There is a yakitori restaurant called "Charcoal Grilled Skewers Chabuya" near Shijo-Karasuma in Kyoto. The red lantern at the entrance signifies the deliciousness of the restaurant. They serve yakitori and dishes cooked using Kishu Binchotan charcoal. The name "Chabuya" is derived from small restaurants that were established in Yokohama and Kobe during the Meiji Restoration period when they became foreign settlements. Tonight, I was invited by a friend for a light drink at the second round, so we visited "Chabuya". It was my first time trying yakitori in Kyoto.
[Chabuya's Yakitori]
- Potato Salad
- Kimchi from Tsuruhashi
- Yakitori: chicken liver, soft bone, negima (chicken and green onion skewers)
- Drinks: a few highballs
Since I was already full from the second round, I couldn't eat much yakitori, but the juicy yakitori grilled over charcoal was delicious. As a big fan of yakitori, I would like to explore more yakitori restaurants in Kyoto after trying it at "Chabuya". Thank you for the meal.

You can't go wrong with anything you order, and all the yakitori pieces are large and satisfying to eat! You can choose between salt and sauce, but I highly recommend the salt option. The seseri (chicken neck) was especially delicious, I had to order seconds! And they even serve ice cream as a palate cleanser at the end, which was a nice touch. All the non-yakitori dishes were also delicious. I definitely want to come back to this restaurant!

Due to the state of emergency, the places we can go to are limited, so I've been relying on Chabuya since the beginning of this year. The yakitori there is best described as fluffy. It's a bit concerning that the person grilling the yakitori is not wearing a mask in these times. They serve bottled beer.

A friend recommended this yakitori restaurant. We used it for a drinking party♪ It's about a 10-minute walk from Shijo Station on the subway. It's located in a narrow alley lined with old townhouses. Despite its quiet appearance, the inside of the restaurant was very lively. Both the counter-style first floor and the table-seating second floor were full. People without reservations were being turned away. The yakitori was as good as rumored, with no misses no matter which one you tried! Even the liver, which I don't like, was delicious here - no smell and very soft and fluffy (*^^*) The drinks are also plentiful, with a great selection of sours that girls would love - a nice bonus point☆ The prices are reasonable, and it's understandable why it's so popular (о´∀`о) It's great for a lively gathering with a large group or for quietly enjoying yourself♪ If you want to eat delicious yakitori, be sure to visit this place! Thank you for the meal★

Visited on a Sunday during the state of emergency. Despite being in the Karasuma area where it seems quiet due to the business district, Chabuya was fully booked and receiving constant phone calls. Amazing. Both the dishes and yakitori were reasonably priced and delicious. It had a nostalgic Showa era vibe. The tough-looking uncle serving in the hall turned out to be surprisingly friendly, creating a good contrast. It's a shame they don't have draft beer as usual.

This was my first time at this izakaya, and it was really crowded. The yakitori was fluffy and delicious, and it went really well with beer. I had chicken ramen as a finishing touch, and it was the best chicken ramen I've ever had.

She made a reservation for our first visit. Picture 1 is yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and picture 2 is a specialty dish. The prices are reasonable and they offer a variety of specialty dishes, so I recommend it for regular use. #Kushiyaki Chabuya #Kushiyaki Chabuya Takakura Store #Yakitori #Specialty Dish #Kyoto Yakitori #Kyoto Izakaya #Izakaya #Kyoto Gourmet #Shijo #Karasuma #Food Blog #Highly Rated on Tabelog #Want to connect with yakitori lovers #Want to connect with gourmet lovers #Want to connect with food lovers #Gourmetstagram

This place has the best cost performance. I decided to go for a drink around 8 pm on a weekday. The place was almost full as usual, but luckily we got a table. We ordered various skewers and oden, along with two drinks. The photo is of an avocado dip. We ate a lot, laughed, and the total was only 5000 yen for two people! Amazing, right?

The shop recommended by my junior, who has been going there frequently lately. I went there with the junior who recommended it. I made a reservation for Sunday evening, but it was fully booked. It seems to be a very popular shop. The majority of customers were women, even at the counter. You can order skewers starting from 2 pieces each. We ordered Cheese Avocado Wasabi, Chicken Tenderloin, Chicken Thigh with Sand Liver, Heart and Chicken Thigh with Green Onion Salt, Cheese Chicken, Cheese Shiratama Skin, and Bonjiri, among others. Everything was delicious, but personally, I liked the Bonjiri and Chicken Thigh the most. From appetizers to skewers, everything was good quality. It's suitable for a quick drink with colleagues or for a girls' night out.

My friend and I, who both love yakitori, decided to try a new restaurant that my friend made a reservation for. The place was already crowded with many customers, and the seating was time-limited, indicating its popularity. The interior had a retro feel with oldies music playing in the background, giving off a nostalgic vibe. While I usually enjoy eating at Torikizoku, this place offered yakitori at a similar price range but with better taste. I tried raw wheat gluten for the first time, which was not available at Torikizoku. It had a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior, topped with a sweet and savory miso sauce. The seseri (chicken neck) was a must-try and had a perfect texture. The negima (chicken thigh with leek) was flavorful with tender meat and well-seasoned leeks. The heart meat, which I ordered with sauce, had a balanced flavor that allowed the taste of the heart to shine through. I didn't take a photo, but the avocado cheese with wasabi was also delicious. They served it with crackers, and the combination of avocado, cheese, and wasabi was delightful. I also ordered kamameshi (rice cooked in an iron pot) later, and eating it with the avocado cheese with wasabi was a great pairing. The surrounding area had a Kyoto-like atmosphere with other appealing restaurants, making me want to explore more. While I tend to frequent Torikizoku, I would like to discover more restaurants like this one. Just talking about Torikizoku makes me crave yakitori. Thank you for the delicious meal! I will definitely come back again!

If you go from Shijo Street, head south on Takakura Street. There is a shop before Bukkoji Street with trendy shops along the street, making it fun to walk around and peek inside. It is a yakitori specialty store known for its delicious oden. I made a reservation and visited. I was happy to see my favorite "bonjiri" on the menu. The sauce was rich and coated the chicken well. I enjoyed everything at this shop, which suits my taste preferences. The shop has a slightly different concept and there are several branches. It was a place that made me excited to visit again in the future. Thank you for the delicious meal!

It's quite disappointing that Nishiki has closed down. The first floor of the Takakura location is recommended. The second floor is very bright and noisy. Everything is delicious, but especially the tsukune is juicy, big, and satisfying. The fruit chu-hi is also filled with lots of fruit, and even my friend who doesn't usually drink alcohol was happy!

I went out drinking with my close friend for the first time in a while, and we went to a yakitori restaurant recommended by my friend. The restaurant was crowded with people. The bottled beer was excellent. The yakitori was delicious, and my favorite was the grilled chicken with green onions. The avocado was also nice.
