On a Saturday afternoon, there was one group waiting outside the restaurant, but we were seated shortly after and entered the cozy interior. Inside, there was a ticket machine, and we took off our shoes before sitting in the raised tatami seating area. The restaurant was small, with a counter seating for 8 and a couple of tables for 2. I ordered the Steak Donburi with garlic chip topping, and it looked amazing with its beautiful red color! The steak was very tender and had a perfect rare texture with just the right amount of bounce as you chew. It didn't have that rubbery texture that some cheaper steaks have, which makes it hard to swallow. When paired with the egg yolk and plenty of garlic chips, along with wasabi, it was pure bliss! Although they were sold out that day, I actually tried the premium steak at their main branch in Uji, and it had an even finer marbling, making it melt in your mouth even more. I think I'll try the seared meat taco bowl next time. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I ordered three different dishes, but personally, I liked the Yakiniku (grilled meat) bowl the best as it had a unique flavor. The Steak bowl had the best presentation. I went on a holiday shortly after the store opened, and was able to get in right away. All menu items have a 15-minute expiration time, but it would have been nice to have an explanation for why it's 15 minutes.

I visited the butcher Kurokawa-san ^ ^ It was my first time visiting this store, and I was able to enjoy a satisfying lunch. Personally, I highly recommend the Meat Takudon! The combination of meat and pickled daikon is really good, and the sauce is also delicious♪ I have never seen anything like the Meat Takudon at any other place besides Butcher Kurokawa-san, so I feel like it can be called their specialty. I had been interested in Mr. Kurokawa after seeing several posts on Instagram. It seems that the main store is located elsewhere, and the one in Kiyamachi was opened relatively recently. I arrived a bit late, so I was the only one in the restaurant. I found out that you have to order at the ticket machine when I was about to sit down, so it would have been helpful if they had told me a little earlier. The restaurant is run by university students, which is quite fitting for Kyoto. Kyoto is full of universities, so it's no surprise that university students are active in various places in Kyoto. Since I came all the way here, I decided to choose a slightly luxurious meat dish. Since I used the ticket machine, I forgot the price. The meat was beautifully arranged as shown in the photo, and it was nice to have a visually appealing dish among others. The portion was also generous, so I left feeling full. The location is within walking distance from Sanjo Station.

I arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes before opening, expecting a crowd, but no one was there yet. I sat in a chair and waited for the opening, and soon people started gathering, forming a line by opening time. I entered the restaurant and purchased a ticket for "Seared Meat Rice Bowl with Egg Yolk" (1,900 yen) at the ticket machine. I was guided to a counter seat, where every menu item comes with miso. The rice bowl was served with finely cut beef and pickled radish, sprinkled with sesame seeds, and topped with chopped green onions. A separate dish of egg yolk was provided to add on top. The meat used was marbled Wagyu beef, with a rich umami flavor, a nice chewy texture, and a good balance of saltiness from the pickled radish. Although the meat was already seasoned with sauce, it tasted even better when mixed with the melty egg yolk and eaten with the meat and rice. The restaurant allowed customers in one group at a time, ensuring that each customer was seated only after the previous one had finished their meal. I was impressed by their commitment to serving freshly made meat bowls with a short shelf life.

I had seen people lining up a few times before and had wanted to go someday. When I finally visited, I ordered the 1,900 yen steak rice bowl and hitsumabushi set. My impression was honestly just okay. The steak was not rare but rather just seared on the surface, and it was more soft than tender. The hitsumabushi set's broth was too light in flavor, almost like hot water. Honestly, I didn't understand why there was such a long line.

You can eat rare steak at this restaurant! Personally, I recommend the meat and pickles bowl. The finely chopped rare steak goes perfectly with the pickles! You can also order additional broth and eat it in a hittsumabushi style at the end. Definitely give it a try!

I visited the butcher shop Kurokawa-san in Kiyamachi. I had visited the Uji main store the day before, but the top-grade steak was sold out, so I really wanted to eat it and went there for lunch on the last day of my trip! I stayed at a hotel right next to Kyoto Station, so I took a taxi from there. Depending on the crowd, it took about 13 minutes to arrive. When I arrived at 10:58 before the 11:00 opening, there were already about 7 people lined up. We were gradually guided in as we couldn't all enter at once. I was worried about getting sunburned because of the strong sunlight, but they offered umbrella rental service, which was a lifesaver. A must for women! Once inside, you first buy a meal ticket. After a 20-minute wait, the steak set was served. ■ Menu ordered ・ Top-grade steak set with extra meat, egg yolk, garlic → It was described as having a high-quality and light melting fat with excellent melt-in-your-mouth taste, and it was really true. They are particular about using black wagyu beef from female cows. The sauce is delicious above all. The combination of delicious sauce and meat goes perfectly with white rice. If you want to make it look good in photos, be sure to add extra meat. The topping of egg yolk and garlic is highly recommended. It sells out once it's gone, and when I went to the Uji store, the top-grade steak was sold out before noon. Depending on the procurement situation, there are rare days when they cannot provide the top-grade steak, so it is not guaranteed that you can always eat it. I arrived just before 11 am on a regular day and there was already one person waiting in line, but it seemed like they were meeting someone so I was allowed to enter first. They have a system where you buy a meal ticket first, so I purchased a steak bowl with a topping of egg yolk. There were only two counter seats and two two-person tables, so even though there were three of us, we sat at the counter. The shiny meat and sweet sauce were really delicious (*´꒳`*) The meat had just the right amount of oil, not too greasy, making it easy to eat.

I have been to the Uji store before, but this was my first time at the Kiyamachi store. I always thought it would be crowded, but it was surprisingly empty on this day, even though it was a Saturday! The premium steak bowl was sold out, so I opted for the steak bowl instead. The meat was tender, sweet, and delicious! If I had to point out something, it would be even better if they had salt and pepper or something for seasoning.

The second store of a popular restaurant with long lines in Uji! I've been wanting to try it for a while and finally got the chance. I arrived just before opening and was first in line! It's great that you can also eat in Nakagyo Ward.
I tried the Steak Don with Egg Yolk Topping for 1,760 yen, with an extra meat topping for 660 yen, totaling 2,420 yen. There was also a limited quantity premium Steak Don for 2,310 yen, but I prefer lean red meat over marbled fatty meat, so I opted for the red meat with extra meat topping. They garnish it with a rose-shaped egg yolk on top, which is a nice touch! The extra meat topping was quite generous, almost as much as the original serving, making it a great deal! The sauce was delicious, the meat was tender, and it was satisfying and tasty.
I'm happy with my choice of meat and egg yolk topping. Thank you for the feast!
