We received a Kyoto support coupon and came here with two people, spending 4,000 yen. Today is the last day, so it cost us 3,000 yen for a bottle of Junmai Tanizan Shiboritate. The sake here is delicious! It's the brewery we always buy from, but the sales space is small. They sell their products in various places around here.

I found a sweet sake called "drinking drip"! It's made without any additives and it's incredibly delicious! It's brewed at a sake brewery and it's the best! I only bought one bottle, but I should have bought more! I've been drinking it in the morning, afternoon, and evening and it keeps me energized!

After visiting Kiso Seinikuten, I decided to extend my trip to a place I had been wanting to visit. In Kyoto city, there are various sake spots such as the Sasaki family's Sasaki Sake Brewery, Matsui Sake Brewery, and Kizakura Sakaba in Fushimi. In the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture, there is the Tamagawa brand brewed by a British brewmaster at Kinoshita Shuzo, as well as the Ooishi Sake Brewery in Tanba. Additionally, there is Seki Sake Brewery founded in 1882, known for their motto "Sake brewing starts with rice cultivation, and rice cultivation starts with the soil." The brewery is managed by the second daughter, who is also a beautiful brewmaster and has been featured in the media. In Kyoto, there are other female brewmasters such as Mukai Shuzo in Ine Town and Shoutoku Shuzo in Fushimi. I had the pleasure of being served by the owner herself, who is indeed a beauty. She mentioned that she has recently entrusted the brewing responsibilities to someone else and is focusing on managing as the fifth-generation head. Since I rarely see her outside of department store sake sections in Kyoto city, I decided to buy a bottle to take home. I chose the Sasasho Tansan Special Junmai Sake priced at 2,700 yen. Although the sake rice specifications are not disclosed, it is made from 70% polished in-house grown rice. It is a sake that warms up well, with a wide aroma that pairs well with various dishes. It is easy to drink without getting tired of it, making it perfect for casual home drinking. I finished a 1.8L bottle quickly, so I would like to visit again to see the beautiful owner.

My work partner gave me another souvenir! Apparently, they bought it on the way back from Amanohashidate on Sunday. It's a limited edition of 2000 bottles of Nourin Ichigou. Chill it in the fridge and enjoy it ice-cold! It's been a while since I had Japanese sake! It's very smooth, with a hint of sweetness and dangerously easy to drink! It goes down smoothly! If you drink too much, your personality might change! It's so good! Thank you! Speaking of 2000, Hanshin's Toritani is about to achieve 2000 hits soon!

I purchased a special cloudy sake in a bamboo tube packaging from a sake brewery in Kyoto because I was drawn to the beautiful Mizuhiki (decorative cord) and label design, which I found at Sendai Mitsukoshi for the New Year. It wasn't available when I first visited, but I found it on the 31st and was immediately captivated by the unique Mizuhiki and bamboo packaging. It's truly impressive how Kyoto incorporates such luxurious Mizuhiki into their sake. The design resembles a sailboat pattern. I also purchased "Laughing Gate, Fortune Comes" because I liked the wording. The alcohol content is strong at 18%. I enjoyed it with nukazuke (rice bran pickles) from Saku Shoten. The special cloudy sake in a bamboo tube cost 3675 yen, while the Laughing Gate Fortune Comes with a gold label cost 2625 yen. Despite being in Sendai, I was able to experience the elegance of Kyoto and feel luxurious. Thank you very much.

After receiving my new car, I drove to Uji to buy amazake for a break-in drive. I can't drink alcohol at all, so I'll toast with non-alcoholic amazake when I get back home. When chilled, it's pleasantly sweet and helps me relax after a long day.

I met up with a foodie friend at a cafe in Toyonaka, Osaka, near the border with Kyoto in October 2020, and received a souvenir from them. They had visited the special venue "Kiri ga Kuru Kyoto Kameoka Taiga Drama Museum" at the home stadium of the Kyoto Sanga F.C. soccer team in Kameoka, Kyoto. They got me a bottle of "Junmai Ginjo Life Full Swing Cup Sake" from the souvenir corner "Mitsuhide Taiga Products Hall". It's a high-quality sake from Tanizawa Sake Brewery in Kameoka, known for its great taste. I tried it warm with some beef tendon doteyaki, and it was delicious. The label was designed with calligraphy by the late priest Sakai Yuuya, who was a big Hanshin Tigers fan. The sake was named "Life Full Swing" as a lesson in life philosophy. It was perfect warm, and I enjoyed it in a large sake cup. As the weather gets colder, I look forward to enjoying more warm sake with dishes like oden. Cheers to a more relaxed life ahead!

In October 2020, I received a gift from Mairebi-san. It is a cup sake from "Tanzan Sake Brewery" in Kyoto, Kameoka. Located upstream of Arashiyama, they use natural water and their own "Yamada Nishiki" rice to make sake. The cup sake is called "Jinsei Full Swing" for 420 yen. It is made from rice (domestic), rice koji (domestic rice), with an alcohol content of over 14% and less than 15%, and a polishing ratio of 60%, with a volume of 180ml. I enjoyed it with edamame also received from Mairebi-san. It has a slight acidity and a subtly dry taste. Despite the name "Full Swing," it is not overpowering and is very easy to drink, making it suitable for pairing with any dish. Thank you for the meal.

Shopping in Kameoka *\(^o^)/* Lately, I've been visiting Kameoka a lot. It's about an hour's drive from Kyoto, but it's peaceful and less crowded than the city. Driving through the dam lake and mountains, with no cars in sight, feels refreshing. I visited a soccer stadium, even though I'm not really into soccer. There was a temporary souvenir shop inside, recommended by the staff. They had a great sake cup, cheaper than a full bottle. The label was calligraphed by a monk from Mt. Hiei. I once received his blessing at Kiyomizu Temple, a memorable experience. Back home, I enjoyed a solo hot pot with frozen pork, tofu, and greens. I don't put too many ingredients in my hot pot. I also bought two bottles of sake as souvenirs, including a premium one. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm excited. Time for a relaxing evening with hot pot and good sake!

My wife brought back this souvenir from her trip to Kyoto. Being a daiginjo, it had a clean and smooth taste with no rough edges, making it easy to drink. It was a luxurious Japanese sake that you could enjoy drinking sip by sip.

I recently visited a local department store where they were hosting a Kyoto specialty products exhibition, and I ended up making an impulse purchase. The staff from Kyoto were there and they taught me a lot about sake (*´∀`)♪ They mentioned that it tastes similar to Dassai. I bought two out of the 5-6 varieties they had brought with them:
- Tansan Junmai Daiginjo from Kura Shuzo for 2,160 yen
- Junmai Daiginjo Yukitsuki Hana from Arashiyama for 3,240 yen
Total: 5,400 yen
Here are my thoughts on the sake:
- Tansan Junmai Daiginjo from Kura Shuzo: It's sweet. The staff said it was dry, but it's quite sweet, with a strong sweetness at the entrance. Maybe it's the sweetness of the rice. However, as expected of a dry sake, it gradually becomes spicy afterwards, leaving a tingling sensation in the throat.
- Junmai Daiginjo Yukitsuki Hana from Arashiyama: I thought it would be easy to drink, but the sweetness comes quickly. It's very smooth and mellow in sweetness. The spiciness gradually comes in, and then slowly fades away at the end. Overall, it's on the spicy side but easy to drink. You can tell it's a good sake.
That's how it is ♩ It's great to have sake breweries come to food exhibitions. I might end up buying more if they come to another event ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

This is a review of a visit to a sake brewery at the Dai Kyoto Exhibition at Sendai Mitsukoshi. The reviewer purchased a bottle of "Kyotanayama" junmai daiginjo sake, which was described as having a refreshing dry taste. However, the reviewer found it too dry and strong for their liking, with a lingering sharpness that they did not enjoy. They mentioned that sake preferences can vary widely, with their husband preferring dry sakes like Kurokami from Fukui and Houraisen from Aichi. Finding a sake that suits their husband's taste has been a challenge.

I have been looking forward to buying a one-liter bottle of "squeezed as it is" every year at the local department store event. Um, if you change the taste, please change the label as well. (It's not a change in brewing condition, is it? ××××?) Since it was the usual label, I didn't taste it, but the taste was completely different. This must be the trendy taste in Kyoto. Unfortunately, I will graduate from this. Thank you for everything so far. For repeat customers, it is recommended to "taste before purchasing."
