Today, on my way back from the hospital at noon (I am on long-term medical leave), my wife and I made a reservation by phone around 11 o'clock at a restaurant that had caught my attention before (there is a sign at a nearby intersection saying "We deliver"). When we called, they asked us if we wanted to sit at the counter or in a private room, so we chose the private room. The restaurant had a quiet atmosphere, similar to a sushi restaurant featured in a certain manga starring a flat frog, near a residential area. Inside, there were about 7 seats at the L-shaped counter, and two private rooms. If you remove the sliding doors, it could also serve as a banquet hall. As for the sushi, we ordered the "Chef's Choice Nigiri (¥1,200 including tax)" and waited a few minutes. We received 7 pieces of nigiri. Huh? No miso soup? Then, we were served red miso soup followed by a dish called "Mini Chirashi Sushi." The nigiri for that day included tuna, sea bream, fatty tuna, conger eel, shrimp, yellowtail (might have been amberjack), and egg. I started with the tuna... delicious! The vinegar rice was especially tasty. The sea bream, yellowtail, and salmon were particularly noteworthy in terms of taste. Except for the salmon, I usually get treated to sushi at a restaurant in Maizuru for business, but this place was definitely better. Overall, it was a satisfying and fulfilling sushi experience. However, I wish they had brought the miso soup first, and it was disappointing that they didn't pay attention to things like refilling tea. Well, I guess they're just trying to be efficient since it seems like they're understaffed. Personally, I'm disappointed that I can't drink alcohol right now (I'm not an alcoholic. It's just that mixing alcohol with my medication causes severe side effects), so when I recover, I'd like to enjoy sashimi and grilled dishes with sake. My wife was also delighted (she's always struggling because of my illness), and we decided to go back again. On our way out, I saw some elderly men at the counter who were probably regulars, and they seemed to be enjoying the "Chef's Choice" nigiri, so next time, I'm thinking of bringing my two elementary school kids along for a social studies lesson and requesting seats at the counter.
