I visited "Pie Face," a pie specialty store in the renovated Kyoto Station Building today. The store is known for pies with faces drawn on them. It is operated by the same company as Mister Donut, "Duskin," and is located on the second floor of Kyoto Station Building. The store was renovated and reopened on July 4, 2023, with a more spacious seating area and a new layout. Pies range from 420 yen (excluding tax) for savory pies to 280 yen (excluding tax) for sweet pies. I decided to enjoy the pies I purchased with a drink inside the store. The pies were served in cute packaging and could be warmed up if consumed inside the store. I tried the Chicken Mushroom pie with a smiling face, a classic item. Heating it up enhanced the crispy texture of the pie, and it was filled with large pieces of chicken and a white sauce similar to stew. It was delicious and full of ingredients. I also tried the Cheese Chunky Steak pie with a slightly angry face. It was filled with plenty of beef chunks, cheese, and sauce, making it another flavorful and ingredient-rich pie. It was a delightful experience enjoying Pie Face after a long time.

I arrived at Kyoto Station and had some time, so I went to Mister Donut. I also bought a pie from Pie Face, which shares the same register. I purchased the Chunky Steak pie for 462 yen (tax included). The pie had a face drawn on it, and it contained diced steak made from 100% Aussie beef. The gravy sauce was spicy with a hint of curry flavor. It was a bit pricey, but the taste was good. Thank you for the meal.

There is a booth adjacent to Mister Donut at Kyoto Station, with the same line formation as Mister Donut. In the corner of the showcase filled with donuts, there are also pies from Pie Face. This time, I tried the Spicy Classic Minced Beef with Jalapeno and the Chunky Steak with lots of meat. I also got the Royal Milk Tea with a note saying "It will take some time." The pie crust was crispy and the fillings were chunky. A delicious pie. This is good.

On the second floor of Kyoto Station, there is a donut shop called Happy Pie Home. I didn't have time to try their donuts, but I was able to enjoy their green tea. It was incredibly rich and perfect for matcha lovers. I was very satisfied with it too.

There is a Mister Donut located along the passage leading to the large staircase in Kyoto Station Building. Next to it is a shop called Pieface, which sells cute pies with adorable expressions drawn on them. You can buy pies from there while waiting in line at Mister Donut. Currently, they have sweet potato donuts and Halloween-themed donuts on display. Pieface, an Australian-based shop, offers meat pies and sweet pies as well. I tried the Pon de Choco Devil, which had a cute swirling eye design. Unfortunately, the Halloween menu has ended. The pie was quite spicy but delicious. It was very filling. Mister Donut Kyoto Station Building Shop (Donuts/Kyoto Station, Kujo Station, Toji Station) Overall rating: ★★★☆☆ 3.5

I visited around 9:30. I learned that Pie Face is actually operated by Duskin, the same company as Mister Donut. I thought there would be new donuts from Mister Donut at first, but it seems they have separate menus even though the payment is combined. I ordered Chocolate & Chocolate for ¥286 and an iced coffee for ¥396. The pies at Pie Face are moist and have more substance compared to Mister Donut. The iced coffee is the same as Mister Donut's and delicious. The seating area is spacious for dining in, and you can enjoy the futuristic atmosphere near Kyoto Station. There are outlets available, so you can relax and take your time. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a shop inside Kyoto Station. It is located on the second floor next to Mister Donut. They have about 10 different types of pies. You pay first and then take a seat. Drinks are made on the Mister Donut side. It was a good area to kill time in the station.

I had some errands to run at Kyoto Station and decided to take a break on my way back. I stopped by "Pie Face" located next to Mister Donut on the second floor of the station building. It's a café with an open terrace design, so there is enough space between tables to not feel crowded. I ordered an iced café au lait for 429 yen (to go) and it was delicious with plenty of milk. It was a cozy place where I could relax amidst the hustle and bustle. Thank you for the meal.

I wanted to use my laptop at Kyoto Station and found a quiet spot! On the second floor of Kyoto Station, there is a Mr. Donut and Pie Face side by side, with tables and chairs available. Since I was craving something sweet after a meal, I ordered an apple pie and a straight Earl Grey tea. The pie crust was crispy with apple and cream filling, which paired well with the Earl Grey tea. It was great to be able to use my phone and laptop here. Such places are truly appreciated.

I was in the mood for apple pie so I bought some apples for around 300 yen. It was for takeout but they warmed it up for me. The custard was just sweet enough and the sweet and sour apples were delicious. The friendly service with a smile was very impressive.

I stopped by Kyoto Station Building on my way home from work today. I went to a pie shop on the 2nd floor of the station building, where they use various side dishes to make pies. It's called Pie Face, my favorite pie shop. The pies are filled with side dishes and have cute faces drawn on them. The display window is full of smiles. I got some pies to go. If you get three or more, they put them in a special box with smiling faces on it. The pies are designed so that you can tell the filling by the face, and there was even a guide included. I couldn't wait to try them. I cut one in half with a knife and enjoyed it. Avocado Hamburger: A hamburger seasoned with demi-glace sauce, with avocado inside. It's a hearty hamburger that's very satisfying. Sichuan Spicy Pork: This pie with a pig's face is a limited-time item. It contains large chunks of braised pork with a hint of Sichuan pepper. It's a Chinese-style pie. Chicken Mushroom: Inside the white sauce, there is chicken and mushrooms. It's very creamy. I didn't consciously choose them, but I was able to enjoy pies with beef, pork, and chicken. The cute-faced pies can cheer you up when you're feeling down! They were delicious.

After work, I stopped by Kyoto Station and bought some pies to take home. Pie Face is a pie specialty store located on the second floor of Kyoto Station Building, next to Mister Donut. You can eat at the tables outside the store or take them to go. The showcase had many pies with faces drawn on them. I got three to go, and they put them in a special box for me. They had chicken mushroom, potato clam chowder, and smoked bacon and penne tomato cheese flavors. Each pie had a different face pattern to distinguish the fillings inside. The middle one was the potato clam chowder. When I cut it open, it was filled with lots of filling. They recommend warming them up in the microwave for a better taste. They also provided special wrapping paper to reduce the mess while eating. I especially liked the chicken mushroom flavor. It's a fun and delicious pie that would make a great gift for families with children.

Located on the second floor of JR Kyoto Station, this shop is situated among other Duskin-related stores. They offer around 10 different items in their showcase, ranging from meat dishes to sweet treats. The "Matcha Mascarpone" dessert is particularly popular. Just like the Mister Donut next door, you can use Duskin discount coupons and Rakuten Super Points here.

I rate it 3.9 [Food & Taste 3.9 | Service - | Atmosphere - | Value for Money 4.0 | Drinks -]. I bought takeout while at Kyoto Station to eat the next day. I got the Chunky Steak Chicken and Mushroom, both for 421 yen each. The first one had chunks of meat with gravy sauce, very satisfying. The other one had a surprising white sauce with chicken thigh meat, mushrooms, and onions mixed well, which I quite liked. Both went well with wine. I recommend this place. Whether for takeout or dining in at Kyoto Station, be sure to visit at least once.

After Cafe du Monde closed on the second floor facing the front of Kyoto Station, it ended up being all Mister Donut and this store with a monopoly by Duskin. Duskin, as a Kansai company, I hope they do their best despite various food-related scandals. Now, the main thing here is pies. It's rare to find a pie specialty store. I decided to take one home for now. Classic mince beef pie for 421 yen. They included instructions on how to heat it up, but when I read it, it didn't say much. (laughs) The taste was surprisingly delicious. It had a hint of spices and was quite well done. Although it's called mince, it's more like a paste. They have a variety of options here, so I'll try a different one next time. With this, my new registration/first post has reached 350. I roughly aim for one out of four posts to be like this, and so far I have kept to that. There's probably no one else who cares about this kind of thing, but I will continue to do my best with these minor reviews.

It is located at Kyoto Station, next to Mister Donut. They also had this product displayed at Mister Donut, so you could buy them together. There were many types of pies to choose from, but I chose the cream one. It had custard inside, like a cream puff, and the pastry was crispy and delicious. They also had meal options, so I would like to try them again.

Formerly located in Shibuya Modi, Pie Face. I have known it since my time in Australia, and I was thrilled when it landed in Japan with the backing of Mister Donut. However, it struggled with sales and withdrew after about two years. I was disappointed as I use a Pie Face photo in my profile picture. In Australia, beef pies are sold in supermarkets, pubs, and even gas stations (in areas without convenience stores, gas stations with attached shops serve as convenience stores). I wonder if the pie culture doesn't resonate with Japanese people? Before going to Australia, I only had the image of pies as apple pies or pumpkin pies, in other words, sweets. However, it's not a complete withdrawal as a few stores are still remaining. The Kyoto store has a layout similar to Mister Donut, but I looked at the product lineup. Is it a strategy that more than half are sweets? I remember that the majority were side dishes at the Shibuya store. Butter Chicken Curry ¥421, a classic curry, butter chicken. It is always the most popular in the curry department at MUJI. I didn't plan to eat it right away, so I had it for lunch the next day. The filling is a pumpkin pie-like yellow color. It is mildly spicy. In addition to chicken, chickpeas came out unexpectedly (laughs). It seems that a lot of butter is used in the pie crust, and when heated, the grease that sticks to your hands is quite noticeable... However, the joy of being able to eat it again after a long time outweighed that. I hope it will make a comeback in the city center again.

I had some errands to run at Kyoto Station, so I bought some pies from "Pie Face" as a souvenir for my family. The shop is located next to Mister Donut on the second floor of the station building. I purchased an an butter pie for 259 yen, an apple pie for 302 yen, and a clam chowder pie with potatoes for 421 yen. The receipt said "Misdo," so I wonder if they are related shops. The pies came with instructions on how to reheat them, and they were delicious with a crispy crust. However, since I bought three pies, they were packed in a fancy box that was inconvenient to carry and didn't fit in my eco bag. It would have been better if they had asked whether I preferred a bag or a box. Thank you for the meal!
