I wanted to try various parts of eel, so I made a reservation at Unachan for the first time. Just as the reviews said, the restaurant was crowded with regular customers. Enka music playing in the background. It felt like stepping into the Showa era. Perhaps because I made a reservation this time, we were seated on the second floor. The second floor also had a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. It felt like a time travel adventure, and I was excited. This restaurant offers an omakase course, so there is no menu. I had already ordered the unagi-don when making the reservation. Thanks to the information from everyone's reviews. First, we were served pickles, eel liver simmered in soy sauce, and beer for a toast. The pickles were just the way I like them, well-pickled. Paired with the eel liver simmered in soy sauce, the beer went down smoothly. Next came the grilled eel skewer. It was fluffy with just the right amount of salt. The sweetness of the eel danced in my mouth, making me smile. I ordered another beer at this point. Then, the waitress brought us the grilled white eel. We enjoyed it with wasabi soy sauce. The eel melted in my mouth, and the combination of wasabi and the sweetness of the eel was perfect. Of course, the beer kept flowing. The other customers were also enjoying the eel and drinks, and the regulars downstairs were having a lively time. It felt so happy and content. With a pleasant buzz from the alcohol, the grilled eel liver arrived next. This time it was served with sauce. It was crispy on the outside, and the slightly bitter liver paired well with the not overly sweet sauce, enhancing the umami flavor. I usually don't drink much beer, but I ended up ordering a third bottle. The eel was delicious, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and the conversations were lively. Then, the knockout came with the liver. It was rich in flavor, smooth, and elegant. Each bite made me involuntarily exclaim, "Mmm." This was truly a delicacy! I was captivated. Finally, it was time for the eel rice bowl, and I ordered another beer. It was great that they offered a smaller portion of rice for those who drink. The soft, melting sweet eel, the slightly less sweet sauce, and the slightly firmer rice. I took a bite, sipped my beer, sighed in delight, and felt incredibly happy. As we were leaving, the chef apologized for the wait. But I had enjoyed the wait, the delicious food, and the affordable price. I will definitely come back. It's a wonderful restaurant loved by regular customers. I wanted to convey more, but the chef seemed busy, so I just said, "It was delicious. I will definitely come back." On the way back to the station, we talked about the magic of Unachan and decided to visit a few times a year. It was a delicious and wonderful night. Thank you for the meal.
