I suddenly felt like eating toast and visited around 10 o'clock. Located inside the Kyoto Central Wholesale Market, most customers are regulars. I ordered the Morning Set A, which includes thick slices of toast for an additional 50 yen (550 yen). Probably the thickest toast in Kyoto? (laughs) It was really satisfying and delicious. I will definitely visit again when I crave toast. Thank you for the meal!

On this day, despite having work, I walked from Nishijin to the Central Wholesale Market. The sun suddenly started shining and it was hotter than expected. I just made it to the market before it closed, but my feet were tired so I unexpectedly had breakfast at this shop. It was a retro breakfast at a retro coffee shop. Still, it felt like a good deal compared to just having coffee. It may not meet expectations for a Nagoya breakfast, but toast and coffee filled me up.

* ・ Aired on October 9th last year on Asahi Broadcasting ・ Cast Selfish Riding Plan Part 20 * "Monday's Akina and others ・ Searching for market meals better than here at the Kyoto Central Wholesale Market, Part 4" The talked-about thick toast * * That dynamite selfish body * The thickness with a presence that does not betray the six laws is a gigasize that surpasses mega.

I had the medium fatty tuna set meal at Wakon Makino, but I found it a bit lacking in quantity so I went to another place for breakfast. I had thin sliced toast for breakfast, which cost ¥500. The coffee was a bit too bitter for my liking, but the triangular shaped bread was delicious. It was crispy on the outside with plenty of butter spread on top, and the inside was fluffy. The salad was also fresh and crunchy. It seems like most of the customers were either market or business people coming in and out. It was around 10 am on a weekday, and everyone seemed a bit tired. Good job on your work, I'll take over from here and do my best.

"Kissaten Rondo" located outside Kyoto Central Wholesale Market has a seasoned, old-fashioned appearance. I thought it would be run by an older man, but surprisingly, a friendly young woman was managing the place alone with a smile. Despite the initial sense of unease due to the mismatched atmosphere, I found it oddly comfortable. Thanks to this, the place was bustling with older gentlemen. It felt like an oasis outside the market. I ordered a Mixed Sandwich (450 yen) and an Iced Coffee (350 yen). You can choose whether to have the bread toasted or not. You can also specify if you prefer the egg to be soft-boiled or half-cooked. I opted for untoasted bread and a half-cooked runny egg. The sandwich had generous amounts of ham, cabbage, and mayo, and the egg was delightfully runny with mayo. It had been a while since I had a mixed sandwich, and it was delicious. I enjoy the unique and surreal atmosphere of the market outside. It's something I really like."

I used to frequent the dining hall in Tsukiji since I was young, but I have recently been feeling disheartened by the large number of foreign tourists, especially those from Asia, and their lack of manners. This time, I visited Nishiki Market in Kyoto for the first time and was relieved to see that the original market atmosphere is still intact. I was extremely impressed by the morning ramen at Ishida Shokudo, and the lingering feeling of that experience led me to this cafe to quietly relax. The dining hall in Tsukiji is also a sacred place for cafes, and here too, market-related people were seen leisurely reading newspapers. The counter was empty, so my companion and I ordered hot coffee. Many people were ordering morning toast, and there were several toasters lined up on the counter. The female owner was managing the place alone. I didn't mind waiting leisurely, so I enjoyed a moment of relaxation with the coffee we were served. The atmosphere is old-fashioned, but for me, this kind of atmosphere is rather soothing. It was a leisurely time after the morning ramen. I would like to visit again.

Visited on September 15, 2012 (Saturday) around 6:55 am. There were 4 customers before me and 6 customers after me. The kitchen is located on the left side of the entrance, with a counter seating for 8 people in front of it. On the right side of the entrance, there are 1 table for 2 people and 5 tables for 4 people. The café was run by a female staff member. Coffee and tea cost 300 yen, while morning sets start from 450 yen. I ordered the 450 yen morning set. The menu offers an option for thick-sliced bread for an additional 150 yen, which I found a bit expensive. The set included hot coffee, 1 slice of toast, a boiled egg, and raw vegetables. It arrived after a 5-minute wait. The hot coffee was served in a small pot. The toast had too much butter, but everything else was average. This visit might be my last to the Kyoto Central Market as it will be closed on September 17th and 22nd. Despite a decrease in the variety of ingredients passing through the market due to logistical changes, I hope the market continues to thrive.
