15:00 Departure from Saitama. 06:30 Arrive at Fushimi Inari for a pilgrimage. Unlike the past few years, there were many tourists even at this early hour. Of course, it's the autumn sightseeing season and it's a Saturday. It might be the last time to see the empty rows of torii gates. After that, I passed the time until check-in by visiting places like Ryoanji Temple, Daikakuji Temple, Ninna-ji Temple, Kinkakuji Temple, and Toji Temple. Oh, and Arashiyama had more tourists as well. But, unlike before, most of them were Japanese, so it wasn't too noisy. After checking in, let's fill our stomachs with something to eat!! Yes, that's right. Although I had some cookies along the way, I hadn't eaten anything for about 14 hours since waking up (^^♪ I was a bit nervous, but even when I entered a bakery or a convenience store, I left without buying anything. I wanted to leisurely enjoy something delicious, but that didn't happen either. So, I wandered around. As I was heading towards Nishiki Koji to check on the well-being of the "swan" at Rokkaku-do, I discovered a new shop!! When I asked the staff, they said it opened in March 2022. I hadn't walked down this street during my previous stay in Kyoto, so I didn't know about it, of course. Can I take photos? "Yes, please♪" So I entered the shop! I ordered their specialty "dashi ramen." When asked how I wanted the egg, I chose the one with the egg for better presentation in photos. While I was busy taking pictures, the ramen was served. It was like Hakata ramen, very fast. It was a beautiful bowl of ramen. There was also some high-quality shaved bonito flakes on the side. This allows for flavor adjustments. I've had dashi somen before, but "dashi ramen" was a first for me. I asked if they served anything else and they said they didn't know. Looking at the menu, it mentioned a broth made with chicken bones, ginger, vegetables, and kelp. It was a clear soup like the one served in a traditional Japanese restaurant. The balance of the chicken bone soup with ginger, vegetables, and kelp was different from any ramen soup I've had before. While I couldn't discern the exact balance with my palate, it was a gentle and flavorful soup. The crispiness of the Kujo green onions and the different texture of the onions enhanced the soup. The saltiness was just right, and it seemed normal to finish the whole bowl. However, for me, the "pork chashu" didn't quite fit. It had a slight smell and... The noodles could use some improvement in how they are presented. When trying to lift the noodles, the whole noodle block would come up, and serving them all tangled up is a negative point. I didn't receive a stamp card, but I plan to confirm again when I stay at the same hotel in December this year.
