When walking along the Fushimi Otesuji Shopping Street, I saw a sign saying there were only 10 boxes of warabi mochi left. I went around 2 PM and bought the fluffy and soft warabi mochi for 580 yen per box. When I opened the box, there was a lot of powder inside, and the warabi mochi itself was delicious and gooey. The shop seems to have a calendar indicating they often set up at the supermarket I usually go to. If I can buy it nearby, I would be lucky. Thank you for the meal!

Located in the Otesuji shopping street in Momoyama Fushimi, this shop specializes in take-out warabi mochi. They offer a variety of options including warabi mochi, warabi mochi monaka, and warabi mochi drinks such as kinako latte and matcha latte with chewy warabi mochi inside. The take-out warabi mochi comes in flavors like salted almond and cocoa, and tends to sell out quickly in the morning.

I happened to come across this shop and discovered warabi mochi with a mild sweetness and a good melt-in-your-mouth texture. It's delicious. For those who want more sweetness, you can also try it with the separately sold kuromitsu. The shop is located on Otedori Street, but they also make monthly visits to the Matsumoto Uji Makishima store, where you can buy them in limited quantities.

The first impression was that the prices on the menu and sample products were quite high for the small portion sizes. However, they emphasized that they use high-quality ingredients. I bought the remaining 580 yen warabi mochi, which was about 12 pieces. It was almost sold out by around 2 pm. I think this is the regular size. I'll be honest, it was delicious. I really liked the texture and flavor. I definitely plan to come back for more. Next time, I want to try the brown sugar flavor. Thank you for the meal.

Takeout drinks and warabi mochi in Kyoto day trip part one is at Fushimi, where everything is handmade! They use carefully selected ingredients and methods to create authentic drinks, such as the warabi mochi (Uji matcha latte or kinako latte) at Warabi Shouten. They use Uji matcha for the matcha latte, and finely ground kinako for the kinako latte, creating a delicious treat that has people lining up for it. Another recommended sweet treat in Kyoto is the warabi mochi (Uji matcha, salted almond, or cocoa flavor) at the same shop. With a melt-in-your-mouth texture, this treat is popular among repeat customers. I tried the cocoa flavor, which features high-quality cocoa from Van Houten and the sweetness of black sugar, creating a new sensation similar to "raw chocolate mochi." The shop is open from 10:30 to 16:00, closed on Tuesdays. Don't forget to check out their drinks as well! #WarabiShouten #warabimochi #KyotoSweets #LORIMERKyoto #warabimochikyoto #warabimochisweets #warabimochidrink #KyotoMatchaDrink #KyotoKinakoDrink #KyotoSweets

Salted almond warabi mochi and Uji matcha latte to go, both seem to be trending this summer! It was a hot day when I went, so the refreshing bitterness of the Uji matcha latte with the chewy warabi mochi inside, similar to tapioca, was delicious! I finished it quite quickly... of course, I didn't bring it all the way home... haha. I was excited to try the salted almond warabi mochi I got to go, and it was light and refreshing with a hint of saltiness. It was also chewy and perfect for hot days! Even people who don't like sweet things might enjoy it. It was really delicious! Since it's a takeout-only shop, it would be nice if there was somewhere to eat it nearby. That's just a wish, though.

Located just inside the Otesuji Shopping Street, a new shop specializing in warabi mochi caught my eye. Surprisingly, there weren't many shops like this in Fushimi Momoyama, so I decided to check it out!
[Drinkable Warabi Mochi (Uji Matcha Latte, Kinako Latte)] ¥600
- All drinks are made from scratch without using commercial beverage bases
- Warabi mochi was developed from scratch to have the perfect texture and taste for drinks
- Although there are claims of dedication, it's not that noticeable, which is disappointing
- A bit too sweet and lacks integration between the liquid and warabi mochi, making it hard to drink
- Be careful when sucking too vigorously, as the warabi mochi can get stuck in your throat
- It seems like it could easily overflow from the container when carrying it around, so improvement would be appreciated
- Considering taste, container, and location, maybe it's worth around ¥450
Overall, I had high expectations, but found several points that made me go "hmm." I would like to try their regular warabi mochi next time, as it looks delicious! Thank you!

In the morning, the warabi mochi shop that sells out before noon had a new menu out! I didn't realize it until now. First, I tried the drinkable warabi mochi for 600 yen. They had kinako latte and Uji matcha latte. I sipped on the kinako latte. It had a lot of kinako! It felt like I was drinking whole kinako. The high-quality kinako was evident. The warabi mochi inside the drink was so smooth and delicious! This place's warabi mochi is really different! My friend tried the Uji matcha latte which was rich and delicious. And then, there was a new flavor of warabi mochi that I didn't notice before - salted almond for 780 yen. Have you ever tried warabi mochi with almonds? The warabi mochi was soft and the almonds were crunchy. The taste was sweet and salty, and it was so delicious! It would go well with a highball in hand. Oh, this place's warabi mochi is really something special!

They are competing with just one type of warabi mochi! One pack (eight pieces of warabi mochi) costs 580 yen (including tax). When you put your chopsticks through it, it's soft and the mochi has red beans inside! It's not too sweet and quite delicious (^^) I would like to purchase it again if I have the chance. It would be nice if it were a little cheaper though~

I purchased two packs at a supermarket for 580 yen each. Each pack contains 8 pieces, but they seem a bit pricey. When I tried them at home, they were very soft, almost like eating water, and didn't have much flavor. The ingredients listed were sugar, soybean flour, sweet bean paste, and bracken. The sweet bean paste mixed with bracken, but you couldn't really taste the sweet bean paste. The main component seems to be water. This is quite an interesting food item.

While walking through the shopping street in Momoyama Fushimi, I came across a small sign that said "Warabi Mochi, only 10 left." I was intrigued but decided to have lunch first before going back. When I returned, there were still 10 left, so I made my way to the shop. It was a cute little shop called Warabi Shouten, and it turned out to be a takeout-only place. Upon closer inspection, I noticed another sign that said "Only 3 left!" and saw the person in front of me buying 2. I nervously asked if there were any left, and the lovely lady at the shop said, "There's only one pack left." Phew! I managed to get the last one! But then, as I was buying it, several people behind me asked for 2 or if there was one left. The lady seemed overwhelmed by the sudden demand. It was Monday at 2:30 pm, and I was lucky. She mentioned that she only makes 60 on weekdays and 90 on weekends. The gratitude she expressed when I bought it was heartwarming. When I got home, I opened the package to find a generous amount of kinako powder. The warabi mochi was divided into 8 pieces. It was slippery and hard to pick up with chopsticks, but I managed. The texture was unique, with red bean skins inside the mochi. It was like a new kind of sweet with anko flavor. I have a feeling this place will become popular quickly, so I recommend trying it before it gets crowded. By the way, my husband initially tried to eat it with a toothpick but struggled to pick it up.

This place opened in 2020, but when I visited in mid-September, I was surprised to find a notice that it had closed on September 2nd. I posted about it on Tabelog, and finally received a response over three weeks later. It seems like they were looking for a successor. I wonder if they found one? Anyway, I visited just before Christmas and tried their 1-pack for 540 yen. The taste was delicious and creamy, although it didn't have any red bean paste inside.

This place used to be a craft beer shop before. It seemed like it would turn into a beauty salon after closing, but it became this shop instead. It's a three-story narrow building, I wonder if the rent is not too high. They have about 10 packs of bracken rice cakes lined up on the narrow storefront. I see, it's bracken rice cakes with red bean skin mixed in. The texture is interesting. It's incredibly soft. It was 540 yen per pack.

Soft and smooth. Slippery and gooey. Warabi mochi. The red bean paste is mixed in, with the skin of the red bean paste inside the soft and gooey texture! I know tastes differ. Personally, I'm not a fan of red bean paste (especially chunky red bean paste haha), so I found the skin of the red bean paste a bit distracting. I thought I would prefer it with just black syrup on top.

The texture is soft and delicious. The soybean flour is also fragrant.
