After visiting other nearby stores, I found this restaurant on my way home. It is located on the second floor of a hotel, and the menu was displayed outside. I fell in love with the eel bowl here, as it looked delicious! Upon further research, I found out that this place is known for its eel dishes, so I decided to visit later. When I visited around 12:00 on a weekday, there was only one other group of customers. They told me to sit at any available table, and I chose the only two-seater sofa seat at the farthest end from the entrance. I could hear the kitchen staff's voices clearly from here. The background music was quiet, so it stood out. The "Sanga Lunch" with a choice of main dish and the "Seafood Bowl and Soba Set" were also tempting, but I stuck with the eel bowl. It was mentioned in the menu that the eel bowl would take 30 minutes to prepare, and the staff reminded me of this. Drinks were not included, and alcoholic beverages were available, starting from 400 yen. Perhaps because there were few customers, the staff did not appear in the dining area except when serving the food. It didn't feel like a hotel, but it made for a very relaxed atmosphere. Thirty minutes after ordering, the eel bowl, clear soup, two small side dishes, chawanmushi, and pickles were served together on a tray. It looked beautiful! The eel was thick and substantial, cooked in the Kanto style with plenty of fat. I personally prefer the Kansai style, with a crispy charcoal-grilled texture, so it was not exactly to my liking, but those who enjoy Kanto-style eel would be thrilled. The eel sauce was generously poured over, almost excessively so. There was no additional sauce provided, but the amount seemed more than enough. It was a bit too spicy for my taste. I prefer to enjoy eel with sansho pepper rather than sauce, but there was so much sauce that I didn't have the opportunity to add the separate bottle of sansho pepper. The clear soup contained yuba and mitsuba, not liver, which was delicious. The chawanmushi was light and fluffy with no fillings, allowing the flavor of the eel bowl to shine. I was full and satisfied after the meal. To have such a luxurious eel bowl for 3,880 yen (lunch price, dinner is more expensive) is definitely a great deal.
