I had iced coffee for the first time in a while, it was a bitter ice blend. The coffee had a slight bitterness, and I asked for less ice. The bitterness wasn't too strong, it was more on the strong side. I think iced coffee tastes better when it's stronger. I'm not sure if vanilla ice cream would be better than ice.

I usually only drink coffee here. But sometimes when I have convenience store coffee or canned coffee, I can't help but think, "Oh, the coffee here is on a different level." It seems relatively quiet in the summer, but the iced coffee here is exceptional because they put a lot of effort into it! To survive this scorching hot summer in Kyoto, be sure to try the iced coffee here. ✨

We visited the shop a little after 1:30 pm, after finishing a meal with a friend. The interior had counter seats and small tables, with a retro and cozy atmosphere. We ordered a hot "medium roast" coffee for 500 yen, without adding sugar or milk, just black. The coffee had a light and refreshing taste, with a mild acidity and the aroma of the beans. It was perfect for enjoying after a meal. Other than us, there were regular customers coming and going, and it seemed like a shop loved by locals.

Located northwest of the intersection of Kawaramachi and Imadegawa in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City. A coffee shop that is visually appealing. It was my first visit. The master, a rather cool-looking guy, took my order for an iced latte, priced at 550 yen, which I think is reasonable for today's standards. I refrained from taking photos inside as there were other customers, but the interior had a stylish bar-like atmosphere. Upon closer inspection, I noticed they also had alcohol available. The master was friendly and a good conversationalist. I saw some regular customers who seemed to be there to chat with him. The latte was served in a coffee cup, not a glass, showing their attention to detail. The balance between bitterness and milk was just right, making it delicious. It was a nice space overall.

A wonderful café with a lot of attention to detail. The staff are dapper and friendly. They ask about your taste preferences and brew the coffee accordingly. I like acidity, so I chose a light roast for 500 yen. It had a nice balance of acidity and sweetness, very delicious. The atmosphere is calm and cozy, I definitely want to go back.

I ordered the plain curry and Ethiopian single coffee for around 1000 yen. The roasted aroma reached all the way to Kagabashi. Enticed by the smell, I entered to find a dimly lit interior with a soothing BGM playing, creating a calming atmosphere. The curry, which was simmered perfectly, had a depth of flavor and was delicious. The movements of the owner were refined, and the speed of serving the dishes was very fast.

I visited the coffee specialty shop New Cup Coffee in Demachiyanagi, Kyoto. The coffee is delicious so I have been visiting repeatedly, but the curry was also delicious. On a holiday afternoon after enjoying autumn foliage sightseeing, I visited with a friend. Since there is no parking lot, we used the Demachiyanagi Station on the Keihan Electric Railway, but on this day we parked at the nearby coin parking lot because we came by car. It was my first time having lunch there. My friend and I had:
- Seasonal Autumn Curry x2 for 880 yen each
The coffee was single origin:
- Costa Rica for 500 yen
- El Salvador for 500 yen
The curry was simmered carefully and served with sautéed eggplant, bacon, mushrooms, and spinach. The eggplant was especially tender and delicious. My friend said it was his favorite taste. The coffee was also delicious, but the curry was also tasty. November seems to be the busiest month of the year, with constant visitors, and the master seemed busy but still took the time to chat with me about coffee. Coffee is truly fascinating. They offer a variety of single origin (straight) and blended coffees, with roasting levels ranging from light to dark, so they can brew according to your coffee taste preference. The coffee beans are roasted on the second floor of the shop, and I always buy freshly roasted beans as souvenirs on my way home. Thank you for the delicious meal. I will visit again.

Located right at the intersection of Kawaramachi Imadegawa, with a navy blue door painted with white paint, a small sign, and a simple appearance, "NuCUP COFFEE" is a quietly popular spot. The interior of the cafe is minimalistic, with a main counter and a dark brown, calming decor with subtle pops of color. They offer a variety of coffee drinks, with prices clearly listed. They also have nostalgic drinks like cream soda, reminiscent of traditional cafes. I chose the Milky Cafe au Lait for ¥500. The standout feature was the serving temperature - piping hot. The first sip was too hot to fully taste, but the gentle milkiness and coffee flavor blended perfectly. The elegant Old Noritake cup added to the charm of the cafe experience. With relaxing ambiance, delicious coffee, and attention to detail in their menu offerings like curry and desserts, this cafe in Demachiyanagi is perfect for a leisurely visit or daily use.

I seek Chinese beans (Yunnan) at Demachi. The unique and extravagant flavor from another dimension is very distinctive. I have recently become addicted to it. The price is not too high, and the master's roasting level is also good.

I haven't had such delicious coffee in a long time! Usually, I mask it with syrup or milk, but this time I found myself drinking it black until the very end. It was so good that it was gone before I knew it. The curry at lunchtime also had a wonderful aroma, so I would like to try the curry next time!

I visited New Cup Coffee, a coffee specialty shop in Demachiyanagi, Kyoto. The owner's passion for coffee is incredible, saying "There is no end to exploring coffee, you can keep searching forever." He also mentioned that if you tell him your preferences such as bitter, sour, or refreshing, he will recommend a coffee for you. I visited with a friend for coffee after lunch on a holiday afternoon. The shop is a 5-minute walk from Demachiyanagi Station, located near the intersection of Kawaramachi Imadegawa Street. The interior has a retro atmosphere with a dark brown color scheme. There are 4 seats at the kitchen counter and 2 seats at the counter in the back. The coffees we ordered were:
- Ethiopia 500 yen (probably G3 from Yirgacheffe)
- El Salvador 500 yen Pacamara variety (rare beans!)
- Costa Rica 500 yen Red Honey (processing method)
They were all delicious so we had 3 cups between the two of us. We also bought 200g of El Salvador beans for 1500 yen to take home. The coffee was brewed using a Kalita copper dripper with a paper filter, and the owner brewed it slowly and carefully. The Ethiopia coffee was a medium-dark roast from Yirgacheffe. G3 (natural) as the owner mentioned. It had a soft acidity and sweet fruity flavor, perfect for those who like acidity. The El Salvador coffee was a medium-dark roast with Pacamara beans. It is a variety created by combining the Bourbon mutation Pacas and the Maragogipe varieties. The beans are 1.5 times larger than normal, and the owner showed us the actual beans. "It's a combination of the best of two beans through grafting," said the owner. After researching later, it seems that these beans are very rare due to their low production volume. I really liked the silky and unique acidity, so I also bought the beans. The Costa Rica coffee was a medium-dark roast with Red Honey processing, where some of the fruit pulp is left during drying to transfer the fruit's components to the beans. It had a fragrant aroma and a balanced acidity. As someone who likes acidity, all the coffees were delicious. Another customer who came later ordered curry, and the aroma of the cooking was enticing, so I decided to try it next time. The owner also asked about our coffee preferences and recommended a coffee based on that. When we asked for coffee beans to take home, he said, "Oh! We have freshly roasted beans!" and brought out beans that were roasted on the spot from the warehouse on the second floor. He also advised us, "Freshly roasted beans are best enjoyed after 3 days, as they will be the most flavorful." He also gave us various advice on drippers and grinders. The owner's passion for coffee and thoughtful service made it a truly wonderful coffee shop. The coffee was really delicious! I would love to visit again for more coffee conversations.

The "Demachi Lamp" has moved from Kawaramachi Street to Imadegawa Street and is now open for lunch as well. When I thought it was open for lunch, it turned out to be a café. I stopped by after having Chinese food for lunch. Even though it's a coffee specialty shop, I had high expectations. The coffee smelled great, but I wonder how their curry tastes. I wanted to eat curry while saying that. There are several types of coffee available, and the staff kindly asked for my preferences and gave recommendations. Thanks to them, I enjoyed a delicious coffee that suited my taste. Even though I wasn't hungry, I ordered a brandy cake out of nostalgia. A stronger brandy flavor would have been better. The combination of coffee and brandy cake was great. The dimly lit shop with lamps on the walls had a nice atmosphere. The owner was also nice. It's a place I would like to visit again.

After enjoying a delicious lunch at Yan Yan, I was walking from Imadegawa towards Kawaramachi when I noticed a cafe that seemed to be brewing really good coffee. I initially passed by but decided to go back and check it out. Upon entering, I saw a counter and tables in the back. The young owner quickly greeted me and offered both dine-in and takeout options. I chose to dine in and sat at the counter. I ordered:
- Dark roast Mandheling blend for 500 yen
- Strongly roasted ice blend for 400 yen
Both were meticulously brewed using pour-over method. The dark roast had a well-balanced acidity and bitterness, very easy to drink. The ice blend, being strongly roasted, had a bold and bitter taste, like a hard-boiled cold brew. As I was enjoying my coffee, a regular customer sat next to me and started chatting with the owner, so I quickly finished my drink and left.

I was told by one of my followers and decided to check it out. It's at the northwest corner of Kawaramachi Imadegawa, with a narrow frontage, so I had overlooked it until now. Even though I pass by it many times... The evening bar "Demachi Lamp" has apparently switched to a two-part system with a self-roasting coffee stand during the day. I'm not familiar with alcohol, so I had no idea ^^; I rarely visit bars, so I'm quite intrigued. There was a woman sitting at the counter chatting with the owner, who seemed to be an acquaintance. I didn't want to intrude and since it was my first visit, I chose to sit on a stool by the wall. I quickly looked at the menu. There are four blends ranging from medium roast to dark roast. They also have two types of orange juice blends and cream soda blends in green, blue, and red (laughs). There are three single-origin options, mainly focusing on dark roast. I decided on the Kenyan dark roast, which was fruity with a hint of sweetness and very delicious. I couldn't see where it was brewed, but the copper utensils looked cool. It was a pour-over. It reminded me of Mono Art in Shijo Kiya-cho. *I received information from someone who is very knowledgeable about Kyoto cafes. The owner is said to be from Cafe Donguri in Marutamachi. The brewing method and atmosphere are similar - definitely. The curry must be delicious too. Because the owner seems to be good at blending (^^) It was delicious. Thank you for the meal♪

The owner of the shop seems quite young, but the shop has a nostalgic Showa era vibe (in the evening). It turns into a bar called Demachi Lamp at night, so maybe that's the atmosphere. However, as a coffee shop, it strangely fits well. I saw some photos of the interior on Facebook from when it first opened, and it has a clean and simple coffee shop look. When I visited, I saw bottles of cocktails and wine lined up, giving off a bar-like vibe. It's nice. The atmosphere is like, "It's this kind of place, but we brew good coffee here." "It's a bit relaxed, but we take our coffee extraction seriously." I tried the medium roast blend and chocolate marble cake. It's a place where you can truly enjoy good coffee. It's delicious. The owner is starting to look cooler and cooler (laughs).
