・Visited a drive to eat wood-fired pizza in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture. Checked the availability on the website on the day and saw that there were seats available from 2 pm, so I made a reservation by phone before heading there. Despite being a mountain road, there was quite a bit of traffic. There was a parking lot for four cars on the opposite side of the restaurant. The interior had tatami seating and table seats, with a pleasant open atmosphere. The air conditioning wasn't too strong, but the sound of the bell crickets made it feel slightly cool. The temperature dropped to around 4°C while driving on the mountain road, making it comfortable even during the day. The pizzas were baked one by one with a time difference, allowing us to enjoy each one piping hot. The pizza dough was chewy, with a delicious smoky flavor from the wood fire. The Kamo eggplant was melt-in-your-mouth, with the umami of the meat miso and the refreshing touch of shiso leaves. The combination of honey and gorgonzola was a sure winner. The contrast between the cheese's flavor and the softness of the honey was simply delicious. However, as I reached the latter half of my age, the light pumpkin soup that I had left behind played the role of a savior. I also wanted to try the pizza with either Shishito peppers or Kujo green onions. The staff were polite and attentive. The clean restroom was also a plus. Summer vegetables like bitter gourd, eggplant, and okra were displayed near the entrance, so I bought some to take home. I also wanted to try the dessert, but I was too full! My stomach and heart were both satisfied, and I left feeling completely content!

In a village deep in the mountains of Kameoka, Kyoto, there was a pizza restaurant with two parking lots - one right in front of the shop and another a bit further away. The shop was surrounded by rice fields, creating a cool atmosphere, and the interior was renovated from an old traditional house with four table seats and two tatami rooms. On that sunny early summer day, the air conditioning was not on, allowing a refreshing breeze to flow in and offering a view of the rice fields outside the window. I was led to one of the tatami rooms. I caught a glimpse of a large stone oven in the back kitchen. The menu wasn't extensive, mainly focusing on pizzas made with Kyoto ingredients. While there were no pasta dishes, there was grilled vegetables available. I ordered the Chirimen Sansho and Zucchini pizza, the Kujo Negi and Teriyaki Chicken pizza, and the grilled vegetables. I paired my meal with a Heineken beer. The grilled vegetables arrived first and were delicious with just a sprinkle of salt. The combination of beer and grilled vegetables was fantastic. Next came the Kujo Negi and Teriyaki Chicken pizza, which was also tasty. I had a bottled beer with this dish. Lastly, the Chirimen Sansho and Zucchini pizza arrived, with the spicy Sansho pepper adding a nice touch. It was delicious even without Tabasco sauce. Overall, it was a great experience worth the trip. Depending on the timing, the restaurant can get crowded, so I recommend making a reservation in advance.

I visited for lunch on the weekend. I made a reservation by phone in the morning and visited the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant, which is a renovated old folk house, is small but cozy and homey. They offer a variety of pizzas, including seasonal specials. We ordered the limited edition takenoko pizza and the classic bismarck. The pizzas are baked after you order, so it takes a bit of time to be served, but it was no problem for us as we were enjoying a leisurely weekend lunch. Both pizzas had a delicious crispy crust and were simple yet tasty. We will definitely visit again!

It was a bit hard to find, but as soon as we opened the door, we were greeted with a warm atmosphere which was comforting. The three of us ordered three different pizzas and for dessert, we had tiramisu and summer orange gelato. The pizzas were delicious with gentle flavors. On our way out, we were given flower seeds. I would love to go back again.
