Starting from Arashiyama in Kyoto, the cycling road ends at the Kizu River goal point, near which the Shio Marshals Group's "Shio to Shoyu" is located. I knew of their existence, so I decided to visit while in the area. Shio Marshals are known for their delicious salt ramen with thick and chewy noodles. Personally, I also love their fried rice. Shio Marshals, known for their salt ramen, also have a soy sauce menu. So, what's the difference with "Shio to Shoyu" run by the same group? The name is different, but the menu is the same. Perhaps it's a franchise versus direct management distinction? I'm not sure, but regardless, the name is different but the food is the same as Shio Marshals! The only difference I noticed was the touch panel ordering system. This time, I ordered the classic "Natural Salt Ramen" (869 yen) with a "Half Fried Rice Set" (341 yen). However, I personally dislike the prices being listed excluding tax on the menu. It would be nicer if it stated the price including tax, like 870 yen. Putting that aside, I wanted to see if there were any differences compared to Shio Marshals, so I ordered the classic menu, but the contents were the same! It was consistently delicious. Some stores may have a stronger saltiness in their soup, but this store had a well-balanced salt level, and the homemade noodles were perfect. The fried rice at Shio Marshals can vary in quality depending on the staff. Even though it's usually above average in taste, sometimes a skilled staff member makes an exceptionally delicious fried rice. This store had an average fried rice. I tried the recommended simmered egg from my friend, and it was incredibly delicious! I'll definitely add it as a topping next time. The female staff at the front were very friendly, but a bit more attention to detail would be appreciated. When my friend and I entered during a busy time, we were seated at a cramped counter, but shortly after, a few table seats became available. It would have been nice if they had moved us there when it opened up. Also, at the register, they started to calculate the total amount without asking if we were paying separately or together. It would have been better if they had confirmed that with us. Despite these minor points, the food was enjoyable. I might stop by again if I'm in the area. Thank you for the meal.
