Meat-mabushi, a meat version of hitsumabushi. Recently, there has been an increase in restaurants offering meat-mabushi, using black wagyu beef and grilling it on a teppan right in front of you. I visited one of these places located in Gion, just off a side street north of Shijo Street. The clean interior of the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the meat-mabushi, made with black wagyu sirloin. They prepared it right in front of me on the teppan, and the smell of the cooking meat only increased my appetite. I was surprised when they flambéed it in front of me, it was quite a spectacle. The meat-mabushi that arrived was packed full of meat, giving a luxurious feeling. The combination of the red meat, yellow tamagoyaki, and green onions was very appetizing. There were three ways to eat it, with condiments, with broth, or as is - all delicious! I personally enjoyed eating it with wasabi. The broth was also authentic, making me feel glad that I came to Kyoto. This hidden gem in the alleys of Gion is a great find, and the owner is a really nice person. I hope it doesn't become too popular, but I'm sure it will because it's a place I would love to visit again and again. Thank you for the meal!

I ordered extra meat on top. The meat was tender, not too strong, and easy to eat. However, I wonder if the server was a part-timer? When I ordered alcoholic drinks, it's not good to serve them after the rice. Normally, drinks should be served before or at least at the same time as the food. The matcha ice cream for dessert... it's a shame that it didn't have much matcha flavor.

I ordered the black wagyu beef meat mabushi set at the meat mabushi specialty store, Mare. The set includes condiments (green onions, wasabi, seaweed), pickles, special broth, and green tea ice cream. The meat is tender with a chewy texture and no odor, conveying its high quality. You can eat it as it is, add the special sauce, or pour the special broth over it. With little fat, you won't feel heavy after eating, and you can enjoy flavor variations with the provided condiments. The set also includes shabu-shabu meat, pickles, and dessert, making it a recommended choice. Give it a try! #KansaiGourmet #Kansai #HonestReview #GourmetDiary #RecommendedExhibitionThisMonth #GourmetDiscovery #GourmetTour

I ordered the meat mabushi with extra meat on top as a single item. I had made a reservation for the opening time, so I entered the restaurant. I had to wait about 25 minutes for the dishes to arrive, as I was waiting for the orders of other customers who entered together. I had a bit of a rush as I had another appointment. The meat mabushi itself had a lot of beautiful meat packed in and the meat was very tender. Even with the extra meat, it wasn't too overwhelming, and as a woman, I could finish it normally. At first, it seemed like there wasn't enough sauce on it, so I added a lot of sauce from the tabletop. The restaurant was small, and the seats next to the entrance had a door right next to them, so the cold air coming through the gap made it very cold. It would have been better if they had seated us from the back, considering we entered right at the opening. Every time a customer came in or out, it was uncomfortable. Maybe because of that, the meat and rice, although freshly made, didn't have that warm feeling... It was definitely delicious, but not the best, and there were a few things that left me a little disappointed during my visit.

I tried the meat mabushi dish. The tender meat was enjoyable in three different ways. The portion provided was just right, equivalent to about three small tea cups. Personally, I liked it best when I sprinkled black shichimi on top of the ochazuke.

Since it was Sunday, I couldn't make a reservation for lunch and decided to come at 3pm. It was quiet and I could enjoy my meal leisurely. I had the Black Wagyu Hitsu-mabushi set for 2500 yen. I enjoyed it three ways - as it is, with condiments added, and with dashi poured in. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Mr. Mare, who had high Google reviews for his meat mabushi (*^^*). I made a reservation 15 minutes before going, but luckily I was able to get in right away. I ordered the meat mabushi, medium rare with less rice and normal amount of meat. The meat was soft and covered in plenty of oil! I couldn't finish it without turning it into ochazuke! (laughs) You can see them cooking the meat, and they sprinkle a lot of salt on it! I thought it was going to be very salty, and it was! (laughs) Turning it into ochazuke helped dilute the flavor just right. I asked for the meat to be cooked medium rare, but it was almost well-done. I like it when it's cooked thoroughly, but if it had been rare, it would have been too tough. I also ordered the steak don, and it was delicious with the egg yolk! The person who ordered it got tired of the taste before finishing it. (sweat) The lady in charge of the hall was polite and provided excellent service, which made me happy. From welcoming us to seeing us off, it was wonderful. I could see the cooking area from the counter, and there was a boy in charge of grilling, I think. He was very slow after we ordered. Even though there were only two of us ordering, he didn't cook at all (laughs). He seemed to be doing the prep work only. They should have been more conscious about it since we could see it right in front of us. The boy in charge of serving rice and side dishes was quick. However, he put the rice in too early before the meat was even starting to cook (laughs). It's a bowl dish, so it didn't bother me much, but if they could coordinate the timing better, they could provide an even more delicious meal. It's a great restaurant that uses good quality meat, so I look forward to their future improvements (*^^*).

I went to a restaurant in Kyoto that serves a dish called "niku mabushi" which is different from the traditional "hitsumabushi". The main dish was the delicious "niku mabushi" topped with seasoned minced meat, served with daikon radish and a bite-sized shabu-shabu. The meat was tender, sweet, and tasty. You could enjoy different flavors by adding condiments, and the meal ended with a satisfying ochazuke. It was a wonderful meal!

It was a bit disappointing as it was too ordinary. The portion size was not sufficient for the price. We were seated at the counter, where we could see the staff washing dishes in front of us or just standing around when they had free hands, which made the atmosphere not very comfortable. Well, I guess the pricing is higher because it's in Gion, so maybe it can't be helped.

In Gion, Kyoto, there is a specialty shop called "稀" that serves meat dishes. They cook the meat right in front of you on a hot plate after you place your order. You can enjoy dishes like Hitsu-mabushi made with black wagyu beef and a steak bowl with black wagyu beef. They offer three levels: regular, premium, and extra premium, which are differentiated by the cut of meat and the amount of marbling. I ordered the premium Hitsu-mabushi set (extra rice). You can enjoy it three ways: as is, with toppings, and with broth poured over it. As you can see in the photos, it was incredibly delicious. The quality of the meat was excellent, making it highly recommended among meat bowl restaurants!

I tried the meat tataki dish at this restaurant, where the meat is carefully arranged on white rice. I ordered the extra meat option, as the expensive one was sold out. The experience was not impressive because I only had the regular portion. I don't feel like going back again. In a place like Gion, price doesn't matter. I am looking for delicious food. I won't come back for the regular portion, they should only offer the expensive one.

The restaurant serves excellent steak donburi and provides attentive hospitality! Despite being a meat seasoning specialty shop, I chose to order the steak donburi. The meat with marbling paired perfectly with the special sauce from the restaurant, balancing out the heaviness of the marbled meat and making it delicious. Sprinkling a little black shichimi and other seasonings on top adds a different delicious touch. The staff at the restaurant are very polite and provide a pleasant dining experience. If you are looking for lunch in Gion, this place comes highly recommended.

I found a restaurant on Tabelog that caught my interest ♬ I love hitsumabushi, so I was curious about the quality of the meat they use and it looked delicious, so I decided to go check it out ◎ It has a hidden, cozy atmosphere towards the back ☻♬
- Black Wagyu Hitsumabushi Set (top)
- Hitsumabushi (top)
- Meat miso daikon
- One bite of beef shabu-shabu
- Special broth
- Garnishes
- Pickles
- Dessert
The volume of hitsumabushi was great ◎ The meat in the "top" part was incredibly tender ◎ Surprisingly, even the daikon was soft enough to cut with chopsticks and delicious ◎ It was a bit tricky to enjoy the one bite of beef shabu-shabu, but it was satisfying and everything was delicious ◎ The dessert with matcha ice cream was a refreshing finish ◎ There weren't many other customers at first, and the restaurant is small, so sitting at the counter meant being overheard and it was a bit awkward ^^; But the food was delicious and the calm atmosphere was beautiful, so I'd like to come back to eat again ♬

I received a set of Kuroge Wagyu beef meat seasoning. There were three types of meat: special, regular, and standard. The special type was already sold out, so I chose the regular one, which was very tender and high-quality. I enjoyed various flavors using condiments, and finished by having ochazuke.

The shop is right in the middle of Gion. Despite being in the center, it's just a little off the main street. Make a reservation for breakfast. Upon entering, you'll be guided to a calm counter seat. Gold chopstick rests and a napkin for "mask placement" are quickly provided, giving a sense of Gion. Order the domestic beef meat bowl. It's quickly cooked and served. The meat... tender and sweet... delicious. It's not the same as the black-haired Wagyu for lunch, but it's still domestic beef. What would happen if it were black-haired Wagyu...? The rice is also sweet...! Rice cooked in a clay pot with attention to detail. It feels almost wasteful to pour the broth over it. But I resist and pour the broth. It goes down smoothly, like ochazuke...! I was worried about eating meat in the morning, but this is no problem at all. I could even go for another bowl. However, I personally think it's best to order a larger portion as a steak bowl. For 1350 yen, this may be the best cost performance for a morning meal in Kyoto's Gion.

I found out they serve breakfast and rushed in just in time for my reservation. I was a little late, but they were very polite and accommodating, for which I am grateful. As a specialty meat restaurant, the meat on the breakfast meat mabushi was substantial! They recommended the ochazuke for breakfast, and it was delicious. The meat was satisfyingly generous, and I was very happy with it. If you're in Gion and looking for breakfast, this place might be a good choice. Thank you for the meal!

I was a bit hungry, so I decided to have a late lunch here. It was February, so the restaurant was quite relaxed with only one other group present. I was seated right next to them for some reason, which made it a bit awkward. I ordered the special premium pork bowl, hoping for a luxurious lunch experience. My friend ordered the regular pork bowl. The food took a while to arrive, and when it did, it looked different from the pictures and the taste was a bit bland. I felt like it needed more sauce. Despite that, my hunger was satisfied. When it came time to pay, I was brought back to reality by the high bill. It felt a bit expensive for what we got. Overall, it was an okay experience.

I saw this restaurant on Instagram and really wanted to go, so I left my accommodation aiming for the opening time. I arrived at the restaurant exactly at 11 o'clock and I was the first customer. I expected it to be crowded, but surprisingly I was able to enjoy my meal leisurely. The meat was incredibly delicious and I was very satisfied. The pickles and soup also had a strong flavor that didn't lose to the meat. I was very satisfied. I would definitely want to visit this restaurant again when I go to Kyoto.

Kirei is a specialty shop that offers meat-mabushi instead of hitsumabushi. You can enjoy it in three different ways: first as a steak bowl, then with condiments to change the flavor, and finally as a tea-soaked rice dish with broth.

I had planned to have tempura for lunch in Gion, Kyoto the day before, but suddenly I felt like having beef for lunch here and changed my plans. I had already made a reservation! It's very convenient for me, coming from another prefecture, to be able to make a lunch reservation! The restaurant was not crowded at 13:30 on a weekday, so I enjoyed some alcohol while waiting for my friend who was running late. It was over 34 degrees outside, and Kyoto was indeed hot with little wind. I quickly moved on to my second drink. I ordered the Black Wagyu Hitsu-mabushi for ¥2800, which was the most expensive option. There were other choices like Regular Black Wagyu for ¥2200, Domestic Beef Top for ¥2400, and Domestic Beef Regular for ¥1800. I wanted to eat plenty of meat, so I chose the top-quality Black Wagyu. With the Black Wagyu Top, I could choose two out of eight pickles. I ate it as it was the first time, added various condiments the second time, and poured in the broth the third time. The tender meat was so delicious! I made the right choice with this one. The hot broth was also delicious! In the end, I finished all the broth as well. I am satisfied and definitely want to come back here again!
