Seasonal Menu: I tried the ai yu jelly, which is soaked in a special syrup made with domestically-grown lemons and domestically-produced brown sugar. It was like a smooth jelly and very delicious. I also tried the new menu item, "Taiwanese Roselle Tea with ripe plum syrup". It is quite sour on its own, so make sure to add the syrup before drinking. It's refreshing and tasty.

Seasonal limited menu: Green bean tofu pudding with red bean topping, white tapioca pearls, green bean paste, two types of tapioca, syrup made from raw sugar, and ginger soaked in domestic honey. The ginger added a delicious accent to the dish. The green beans were also very tasty.

I tried the summer limited menu, green bean sweet soup. It was refreshing and delicious. Green beans are said to help regulate body temperature and promote hydration, making them a recommended ingredient for summer. This menu doesn't contain red bean paste, so it's also recommended for those who don't like red bean paste.

Recently, the seasonal menu has increased slightly in price. The seasonal menu item, White Azuki Bean Shiratama Zenzai, is priced at 800 yen. It is a warm and delicious dish. There is a cute cat at the shop. They climb on chairs but do not climb on tables. They are good little ones.

This is a freshly made white ball & tapioca shop. If you're lucky, you might even meet a cute signboard cat. Today, I had the coconut milk pudding. You can choose between cane sugar or black sugar syrup, and I chose black sugar. The coconut milk is rich and very delicious.

If you love Taiwanese sweets, you should check out this shop! The douhua and aiyu jelly are both delicious. The white balls kneaded after ordering are also chewy and tasty. The shop provides Wi-Fi and outlets, making it a comfortable place to stay for a while.

I wanted to eat white amazake, so I searched for various amazake shops in Kyoto and found Tai Fuka Kajitsu. They use homemade white amazake. I ordered the white bean amazake for 750 yen. It came with about 7 pieces of white amazake, which was very filling. I tried white beans for the first time and liked them more than regular beans. I also had a side of pickles for refreshment, which was not too sour and delicious. There were two cats in the store, which was very soothing. It seemed like a lot of regular customers were using the shop. It's a very relaxing place, so I want to go back with friends to chat again.

In June, the Raspberry Kuzu Agar Jelly is filled with plenty of jelly, fluffy white rice cakes, tapioca, white beans, and Amami Oshima Tancan peel. Please also drizzle some gentle sugar syrup. The Pear Mountain Oolong Tea (from Taiwan) is hand-picked in high altitudes exceeding 2000m, enveloped in deep mist. It has a clear, transparent color and a fruity aftertaste.

I have repeated visits to this shop. They use freshly made white rice cakes kneaded after receiving the order. All white rice cake-based menu items come with a pot of roasted green tea for 750 yen. You can also enjoy rice flour cookies and amber sugar as tea snacks with Chinese tea. Recently, they have started selling seasonal fruit jam made without any additives, which is exquisite. When given to others, everyone is delighted and many end up going to buy it later. What I had on this day was a limited-time menu item called "White Rice Cakes with Strawberry Jam," a dessert only available during the strawberry season. It was a delicious dessert with rich strawberry syrup and jam, spreading the sweetness and tartness of strawberries throughout the mouth, making it a refreshing and tasty treat.

After finishing a satisfying lunch, I decided to walk to Nijo Castle to visit a cafe where I could meet some cats, thanks to information from ingridb. The cafe is run by a shop owner who loves Taiwan, and it specializes in desserts featuring white balls. It's a unique concept that you don't see often. The interior is simple but tastefully decorated in white, and the highlight is the adorable cat sign. As soon as I entered the shop, I was greeted by a Ragdoll cat named Lola. She was very gentle and elegant, and also very smart. There is apparently another cat, but it was taking a break that day. I chose the Douhua dessert for 750 yen, which came with white balls, red bean paste, and tapioca made from vegan ingredients. You can choose between rock sugar or black syrup as the sweetener. I recommend the gentle rock sugar that doesn't overpower the flavor of the Douhua. The freshly boiled white balls were still slightly warm and chewy. The red bean paste had a gentle sweetness, reminding me of Taiwan. The tea was served in a pot with plenty to enjoy. It was a fragrant oolong tea. I almost felt like it was too luxurious for free. Maybe it was because I was alone, but I had a great conversation with the very friendly shop owner. When we talked about dogs and cats, the conversation never seemed to end. I look forward to visiting again to meet the shop owner, Lola, and the yet-to-be-met Adam.

I went to a specialty store for Shiratama Anmitsu. The basic option is Shiratama (rice flour dumplings) + red bean paste + tapioca, and you can choose the syrup to go with it. No matter what you choose, it's 750 yen (tax included). I chose "Biidoro" = a slightly apricot-flavored jelly with kiwi sugar syrup. The freshly made Shiratama was delicious! ☆

I walked from Design Kay to Nijo Castle. I stopped by Tai Fu Ka Nichi, where I visited the other day. "Hello! Is Alan here?" "Oh, welcome back. You're the one who took pictures of Laura, right? She'll be coming down soon." The owner remembered me. Soon enough, Alan appeared, followed by Laura. I was petting Alan and Laura when I realized I had forgotten to place my order. The owner seemed to understand. So, I ordered the White Ozenzai (¥750). It was a slightly sweet, clear, hot syrup with white beans, sweet potatoes, and freshly made white rice cakes. Well, this is how it's done. They really know how to do it. I managed to capture Alan, who I missed last time, perfectly. He may look intimidating, but he's very gentle (due to his Maine Coon blood). I'll definitely come back to see the two cats again.

I tried the white azuki bean zenzai after seeing it introduced on SNS. It was refreshing compared to the zenzai I usually eat. It's delicious on its own, but it also includes sweet potatoes. The moist and rich sweetness of the sweet potatoes adds a nice touch to the taste. The white mochi balls are chewy and plentiful. They are definitely the star of the dish. I ended the meal with homemade pickles and roasted green tea, feeling warm and content. The owner even went to get the cats for me since they weren't around when I visited (one was sleeping). There are many things here that can help you relax. If you love white mochi, you should definitely visit this place.

Located on the west side of Nijo Castle, between Shujaku High School and Chuokyo Middle School, is Taifukaibi. I stopped by before dinner. The simple exterior leads into a cozy space where the owner immediately asks, "Sorry, is it okay if there's a cat here?" Meet the gentle Maine Coon mix, Alan, and the cool beauty, Ragdoll, named Lola. Of course, it's more than okay - these fluffy cats make me want to visit again. The interior is filled with cat-themed items, creating a gentle and loving atmosphere. Instead of a wide range of menu options, they offer customizable sweets based on shiratama, red bean paste, and tapioca (¥750 with hojicha). There is also a seasonal menu item available. I opted for the Taiwanese tofu dessert, douhua, with a choice of two syrups. The freshly made shiratama was delightfully chewy, complementing the tapioca. The red bean paste was perfectly balanced in sweetness, and adding kinako brought a unique twist. The dessert was served with a pot of hojicha from Kitagawa Hanbei Shouten. Despite its generous portion, it was satisfying without feeling heavy. I enjoyed chatting with the owner and discussing cats. Unfortunately, I didn't get many photos of Alan this time, so I look forward to visiting again to see him.

After leaving Nishiki Market, I took a bus and arrived near Nijo Castle♪︎ヽ(*´∀︎`)ノ Thanks to the review from Mairebi-san who lives in Kyoto, I have been interested in this shop since October and finally had the chance to visit! It's a small shop with a cute appearance, and the elegant and kind shop owner greeted us warmly(*゚v゚*) Mairebi-san mentioned that there might be a cat if we're lucky, so I looked around as soon as I entered, but couldn't find it. Oh well, let's focus on placing our order!!(b゚v`*) ---------------------------------------------------------- This time, I ordered... ⚫︎Shiratama + Anko + Tapioca + Douhua (Tofu Flower) Syrup: Brown Sugar (Tanegashima) 750 yen (tax included) ⚫︎Shiratama + Anko + Tapioca + Hojicha Jelly Syrup: Black Sugar (Tarama) 750 yen (tax included) ---------------------------------------------------------- I ordered two types to share with my friend(b゚v`*) The menu says "Shiratama is handmade upon order. Please relax and wait."( ˶ˆ꒳ˆ˵ ) It's nice that they serve a pot of hojicha tea from Kitagawa Hanbei Shoten for 750 yen per person, making me feel a bit guilty for enjoying it so much!(^^;; ) ---------------------------------------------------------- ◆ Shiratama + Anko + Tapioca + Douhua (Tofu Flower) Syrup: Brown Sugar (Tanegashima) The freshly made Shiratama is still slightly warm... ( ⸝⸝⸝⁼̴́◡︎⁼̴̀⸝⸝⸝) It has a soft texture like a baby's cheek, and the Brown Sugar syrup adds an elegant sweetness that enhances the flavors of each ingredient(b゚v`*) Eating Shiratama with Anko, Tapioca, or Douhua is fun with various combinations(๑˃͈꒵˂͈๑) This was my first time trying Douhua at this shop, and it tastes like tofu! Interesting, right?(๑❛︎ڡ❛︎๑)☆︎ ◆ Shiratama + Anko + Tapioca + Hojicha Jelly Syrup: Black Sugar (Tarama) Now, this one has Black Sugar syrup, which has a stronger presence compared to Brown Sugar(b゚v`*) The Hojicha jelly has a refreshing texture, and it pairs well with the Black Sugar syrup(*゚v゚*) I personally prefer the Black Sugar syrup for its bold flavor. They also provide Kinako powder, which adds another delicious element to the dish٩̋(๑˃́ꇴ˂̀๑) ---------------------------------------------------------- Both dishes were quite filling, and I left the shop very satisfied‹‹\(´ω` )/›› But... I still hadn't seen the cat I was hoping for. Just when I was about to give up on seeing the cat, I noticed another group of customers, a woman with elementary school children, talking to the shop owner about the cat. It turned out that the kids also wanted to see the cat but were too shy to ask because they thought we might not like cats!|・ω・*)チラ When I mentioned that I love cats and was looking for them, the shop owner opened a door near the entrance and brought out the cute and beautiful Laura and Alan!(=^ω^=)(=^x^=) "Aww, they're so cute!" Laura, the brown-colored cat, was actually a former stray! It's amazing to see such a beautiful former stray cat(*´艸*) Both cats were very active and playful, and I got to interact with them along with the elementary school kids, making the experience even more enjoyable.

I found a post on social media about a new shop that serves white balls, red bean paste, and tapioca, and I decided to go there immediately. It was conveniently located near a parking lot where I usually park, close to Nijo Castle. The shop had a cute white curtain and a fresh wooden scent. The seating area had a view of the castle's stone walls and pine trees. It was amusing to see people passing by the shop with curious looks. I ordered a dessert called Douhua, a Taiwanese soy milk dessert, with white balls, red bean paste, tapioca, and various jellies. I chose brown sugar syrup and it came with kinako (soybean flour). The dessert was served in a large bowl with plenty of Douhua, red bean paste, tapioca, and 10 freshly made white balls. The warm white balls were soft and chewy, even though the dessert was cold. The atmosphere of the shop made the dessert taste even better. I mixed everything together, enjoying the combination of flavors. The dessert was delicious and I finished it all, savoring every bite. I also had a generous serving of tea from a teapot. As a bonus, I tried a transparent apricot jelly called Biidoro, which was also tasty. I'm already thinking about what to try next time, maybe adding apricot, matcha, hojicha, chocolate pudding, brown sugar, or more Biidoro. The shop offers options that are wheat, egg, and dairy-free, which would make my daughter happy. It's a fun place to visit!

A follower on SNS sent me a DM, so I went to check it out. The location is outstanding, with a view of the moat of Nijo Castle right in front of you. Surprisingly, there weren't many dining options in the area, but this place had just opened. The curtain in the shape of a white ball and the door with the initials of the shop name in the design were impressive. I was seated by the window overlooking the moat. You can choose your dessert by adding shiratama, anko, and tapioca. I was tempted by the black sugar agar and chocolate pudding, but this time I went for the standard "hojicha jelly." You can also choose from two types of syrup, and although black sugar is the classic choice, I opted for the refreshing kibi sugar. By the way, the kibi sugar is from Tanegashima. Actually, this was my first time trying tapioca (lol), but I quite liked the chewy texture. The anko was in small pieces, with just the right amount of sweetness. The main shiratama was plentiful! They make it after you order, and though it's a common expression, it was truly chewy. The quality of the ingredients is so good that you could eat endless amounts of it. Choosing the refreshing kibi sugar was the right decision. I found it strange that there was no drink menu, but I was pleasantly surprised when they served hojicha in a pot as a service. They also provided kinako and the smiling madam with great customer service. If you're lucky, you might even see a cat. If you love shiratama, you should definitely check this place out.

On this day, I had Taiwanese Roselle tea with ripe plum syrup, and a rich matcha jelly with tapioca, shiratama, and sweet red beans. I chose black honey as the sweetener. The jelly was deliciously bouncy.
