During my trip to Kyoto, I took a tram and ended up in Kameoka. I couldn't find many places to eat, so I was thinking of going back to Kyoto when I stumbled upon this restaurant. They had signs outside advertising a lunch set for 1000 yen, tonkatsu for 800 yen, and buri daikon for 700 yen, which seemed like local prices. I decided to go in and ordered the lunch set. It included sashimi, tonkatsu, tamagoyaki, and various simmered dishes. The tonkatsu was surprisingly hot, not cold as I had expected. Maybe I should have ordered the tonkatsu set instead. The miso soup had a lot of ingredients and tasted like a hearty pork and konjac stew. They even served coffee after the meal. The mother who ran the restaurant was very polite and attentive.

Visited during the day on 13th May, located about a 5-minute walk from Kameoka Station, on the north side of Nango Park. We found this restaurant near Kameoka Castle when looking for a place to have lunch. Inside the restaurant, there is a counter with about 7 seats right as you enter, as well as a raised tatami seating area. We ordered the daily Matsukado bento box and a bottle of beer (^u^) While enjoying our beer, the bento box arrived in a relatively short amount of time - it was about 20cm square and contained 14 different items. Grilled fish, Nanban-zuke, vinegared dish, mixed dish, simmered dish, rolled omelette, steamed pork, simmered chicken wings, potato salad, miso soup, rice, coffee, and even dessert, all for 1050 yen! It was a surprisingly great value! Some of the dishes were slightly spicy. The simmered dish was a bit on the rich side. The chicken wings were so tender that the meat fell off the bone, very delicious (≧∇≦) It's also nice that it's a daily special. You can have unlimited rice refills. But with so many side dishes, just this alone is enough to fill you up (*^.^*) When we visited around 1 o'clock, there were only female customers. Women tend to be greedy, so it's no wonder they like Matsukado bento (lol) The service from the staff was also great. Thank you for the meal.

On a rainy day at noon, I entered the restaurant at around 11 o'clock. There were no other customers yet, so I sat in the tatami room and ordered a bento box. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I noticed a strange smell, but I decided to stay. After waiting for about five minutes, my meal arrived. It looked delicious with a variety of side dishes. There wasn't much fish for a sushi place, only salted salmon. The shrimp tempura was a bit soggy. However, the simmered chicken wings were really tasty, tender and delicious. The other side dishes were so-so. Overall, the flavors were a bit strong. But considering the portion size, coffee, and dessert included for 1000 yen, it might be a good deal. The value for money is great, but I may not visit again.
