Today, on a regular day, I had dinner in Kinshicho. I visited this restaurant, Futamen, which I had been curious about. This establishment is operated by DOT EIGHT COMPANY. There is also Fu Fu Restaurant nearby. It is about a 3-minute walk from the north exit of Kinshicho Station, so it's very close to the station. I arrived at the restaurant around 7:30 PM, and there were 5 customers already there. I chose my menu using the ticket machine. The default option is Futamen Ramen, but since it was hot today, I decided to try the thick flat noodles with plum and bonito broth for 950 yen. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the noodles arrived! The noodles have a unique texture, like thick irregularly cut noodles. First, I tried the noodles by themselves. The noodles seem to have a slightly higher water content than usual, and you can taste the flavor of the wheat. The dipping broth is a light broth made from dried fish, bonito flakes, and animal broth, with a hint of umami. The addition of plum adds a sour and sweet flavor, making it delicious. Inside the dipping broth, there were slices of pork and bamboo shoots, which were decent. The noodle portion was around 150-180g, and I finished it in no time. I asked for a soup refill, and they added chopped onions before serving. It was delicious! After finishing my meal and leaving the restaurant, the staff saw me off, which was a nice touch. If I have the chance next time, I would like to try the default Futamen Ramen.
