The area near the Keihan station was full of students. When I visited a little late for lunch, there was one group of regular customers in the restaurant. I ordered the daily lunch special for 790 yen. The soup with ham that stood out with its smoky flavor was delicious. The chicken cutlet with cheese and tomato sauce showed off the chef's skills. The macaroni salad looked a bit fancy. Although it was hidden by lettuce, the cucumber pickled in vinegar and soy sauce went well with the rice. I thought it was a good restaurant, especially for those who enjoy spending time with tea after their meal.

Today's lunch was at "DINING BAR ORANGE HOUSE," a restaurant located on a narrow street just east of the Takeda Kubocho intersection in Fushimi-ku, near Ryukoku University. Despite being tucked away in a narrow alley, it is a clean and beautiful restaurant. While they offer daily specials, their signature dish is the hamburger. The menu also includes Western dishes and pasta. I decided to try the "Simmered Hamburger Lunch" for 790 yen. First, they served a soup with a gentle flavor of vegetables and sausage. The main dish arrived shortly after, featuring a generous salad and a large, surprisingly tender hamburger with a mild taste and delicious demiglace sauce. I was pleasantly surprised to find such delicious Western cuisine in a student town.

Hamburg Steak Lunch Special for 790 yen ⭐︎ This restaurant is located in a small alley near Ryudai. It has a cozy café-like atmosphere with a relaxed and comfortable interior. During lunchtime, there are many students around due to the nearby university. If you come at a different time, you might find local ladies enjoying their time there. This time, I chose the recommended Hamburg Steak Lunch special. Soon enough, the Hamburg Steak lunch arrived! The plate came with the Hamburg Steak, vegetables, potato salad, soup, and rice. The Hamburg Steak was bigger than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. I tried the Hamburg Steak first. It was quite fluffy and juicy, not the dripping type, but still well-made! The sauce seemed to be a homemade demi-glace, cooked slowly with red wine and vegetables. It had a slightly tangy flavor, but it blended well with the meat and was satisfying. The salad and soup that came with it were a bit bland for my taste, which was a bit disappointing. The price was reasonable, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, so overall, it was a good experience! #Kyoto #KyotoGourmet #HannariGourmet #KyotoLunch #Fushimi #Fukakusa #Gourmet #Lunch #DeliciousFood #Foodie #HamburgSteak #MeatLovers #Satisfied #FoodCrawl #LoveFoodCrawls #Throwback #OldPost #TooOld? #LongTimeNoPost

From the Taketa Kubocho intersection towards Ryukoku University, there is an orange sign for "ORANGE HOUSE" just before the university grounds, on the left side of the flashing signal. The slogan is "Creative dishes with plenty of volume based on Southern French cuisine and homemade sweets." The parking lot is in the empty space A in front of the shop. I was torn between the daily lunch special for 780 yen and the number one menu item, the "Stewed Hamburg Lunch" for 780 yen, but decided on the latter after seeing a big board in front of the shop. The interior of the restaurant is spacious, with 9 seats at the counter and 7 tables, and the decor is quite nice. There were many bottles displayed, suggesting that the restaurant may also be popular for dinner. After about 10 minutes, the food arrived. The Hamburg steak was served with a simple salad, onion soup, and rice. The demi-glace sauce, made with red wine, was homemade but didn't have a particularly special taste. The Hamburg steak was a bit firm and meaty, lacking in juiciness, more like meatballs. It was not to my liking, so I was a bit disappointed. The piping hot onion soup was delicious, but the rice was a bit undercooked, like leftover rice from the day before. The customers seemed to be mainly local housewives and office workers, with surprisingly few students. While the lunch left something to be desired, the restaurant seemed suitable for parties and events in the evening, accommodating groups of 4 to 35 people, and even hosting live music events on some days.

The restaurant is located a little north of Ryudai Street, which might be a bit hard to find. The service lunch offers Chicken Katsu Don for 650 yen, while the daily special lunch was Nasi Goreng for 780 yen. I ordered the simmered hamburger lunch with iced coffee for 790 yen plus 100 yen. First, I tried the soup... it was delicious! The spoon was too big for the soup bowl, so I ended up drinking it directly. The salad dressing was not that great, and the potato salad was okay. The rice portion was on the smaller side. The hamburger was just delicious. The restaurant had a clean and calming atmosphere, and the sofa was comfortable to sit on.

I went with a friend. We had lunch. My friend ordered the hamburger set, so I had the loco moco. Either way, I'm satisfied because they both come with a hamburger. It was delicious. However, I didn't find the curry-flavored macaroni side dish very tasty. The dessert seems to change daily, but on this day it was chiffon cake. I'm full. It's cheap, so if I have the chance, I would like to go again.

When I visited my friend's place, they recommended a great restaurant nearby called ORANGE HOUSE. It's located a little west of Ryukoku University Fukakusa Campus, down a narrow alley just around the corner from a chiropractic clinic. The interior of the restaurant isn't very spacious, but it has a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. There were quite a few students inside, probably because it's near the university, but also some office workers in suits. My friend ordered the simmered hamburger set, while I went for the hamburger gratin. After a 10-minute wait, our dishes arrived! My friend's simmered hamburger set came with a large barrel-shaped hamburger, a potato salad in a cocotte, and a mountain of green salad, which was more filling than expected. My hamburger gratin had tomato slices on top, looked cute, stayed hot on the iron plate until the end, and was delicious with melty cheese. The hamburger was fluffy inside, and paired perfectly with the white sauce. We also ordered a chocolate parfait for dessert! The whipped cream wasn't too sweet, and with yogurt in it, it felt light and easy to eat even after the meal. We only chatted a little with the manager during payment, who was friendly, making the whole experience satisfying until the end! Being close to the university, they offer a student discount of 15% off on set menus. Even though we went over 1000 yen this time due to the parfait, a regular meal can easily be enjoyed for under 1000 yen. They also host live music events like JAZZ or pop, so it's recommended for music lovers too.

I saw a picture of a hamburger in a local flyer and was able to visit the restaurant because I had some errands nearby. When I entered the restaurant, I was alone and was welcomed with a "please take your time" and was seated at a four-person table. I remembered the delicious-looking "stewed hamburger" from the photo outside, so I ordered the "stewed hamburger lunch." After a while, a "bean sprout soup" arrived. It contained minced meat, bean sprouts, and clams, but the taste was disappointing. Then, the hamburger arrived! When I looked at it, I realized that the soft-boiled egg from the photo was missing. However, the taste of the hamburger was delicious, so I ate it with high expectations. But it was tough. Moreover, there were some parts that were hard, like the ones that form when you overheat something in the microwave. The side salad of sunny lettuce was discolored and the rice was hard and discolored like leftovers. It was a low-quality restaurant experience. I will not go there again.

This is a shop where live events, such as acoustic performances, are sometimes held. I visited for the live event this time. The entrance fee for the live performance and lunch together was 3000 yen prepaid. The atmosphere as a live house was very nice, and the space was relaxing and lovely. The food was generous in portion and had a home-cooked taste. The portions are quite large, so it might be a bit challenging for women. The taste was neither good nor bad, just average. This place is recommended for those who want to eat a lot. In addition to what is shown in the photos, rice, soup, and a drink were also included.
