(Revisited in June 2015) Tonight, we had a long-awaited gathering. We indulged quite a bit, especially with the alcohol consumption. It ended up being a bit pricey, but the potato salad, grilled beef offal udon, and beef hormone were all delicious. The beef fat was rich and flavorful, whether with sauce or salt. We also had a great time, and I added some photos. (First visit in March 2015) On this day, the main dish was the grilled beef offal udon at Tanaka-san's place. It's about a 30-minute walk from the Kawaramachi area, or you can take the subway to Marutamachi Station and walk from there. It's located behind the prefectural office, a bit further west from the street where Inokura Lumber is. I had made a reservation in advance this time, as the place tends to be crowded. The restaurant has a counter with a shiny iron plate at the back, and table seats in the front, often filled with group customers for banquets. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife, who are humorous and very friendly. The husband and wife occasionally have small arguments, but it adds to the lively atmosphere. We were seated at the counter at the back. The iron plate in front of the counter was sparkling clean! The chef prepares the dishes in the kitchen and then serves them on this shiny iron plate. The menu includes the specialty of the house, the B-class gourmet grilled beef offal udon, as well as other original grilled dishes. We ordered grilled vegetables with bagna cauda, potato salad with cheese, grilled beef fat and onion with salt, dashi roll grilled on the iron plate, honey mustard sauce with Oyama Jidori chicken, recommended grilled beef offal udon, and beef hormone curry rice. The grilled vegetables were perfectly cooked, and the bagna cauda sauce was a great match. The potato salad with cheese had a unique twist and was crispy on the outside and creamy inside. The grilled beef fat and onion with salt was delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors. The dashi roll was soft and flavorful. The Oyama Jidori chicken with honey mustard sauce was tender and paired well with the sauce. The recommended grilled beef offal udon was the highlight, with a mix of yuzu juice, soy sauce, and miso sauce as a dipping sauce for the udon and beef offal. The beef offal was rich and flavorful, especially the abomasum. The beef offal curry rice had a burst of beef offal essence in the Western-style curry. Overall, the grilled beef offal udon was the best I've ever had, and the hospitality of the husband and wife added to the experience. The service was excellent, and they were accommodating with reservations.
