Oden party. A friend who knows Kyoto better than me, even though I live in Tokyo, came to Tokyo. He chose the restaurant, and even made a reservation from Tokyo, which is amazing. This place is an interesting combination of yakitori and oden. In other words, it's an izakaya without fresh fish dishes. The oden here is very lightly seasoned and elegant. The yakitori, cooked over an open flame, is all delicious. The portions are a bit small, which is a shame. Overall, the servings are quite modest. We started drinking local sake halfway through, which was cost-effective, but it came out to around 6,500 yen per person. By the way, I recently learned that buying a lot of oden is very comfortable. You can order a variety of 5 items for the number of people and enjoy it without holding back. It's great♪

The yakitori was plump and delicious, and the oden had a gentle flavor with a Kyoto-like dashi that was satisfying. There weren't many customers yet. The oden and yakitori were both delicious. The staff at the restaurant were also friendly. It would be nice if they had grilled vegetables as well.

Tonight, my family and I went to a restaurant where we had reserved a table on the second floor through Tabelog in advance. The table had a name tag with our name on it. The interior of the restaurant had a nostalgic retro decoration. We were served an appetizer, and we ordered drinks like draft beer and Daruma highball mega, as well as various yakitori such as thigh, wings, chicken leeks, heart, gizzard, liver, and tail, along with tsukune, raw egg yolk, potato fries, assorted oden, and fried chicken. The yakitori ranged from 220 yen to 300 yen per skewer, but they were all delicious with plenty of chicken and perfectly cooked. The oden we had included daikon, ganmo, and chikuwa, and the daikon was surprisingly large and satisfying. The light and flavorful broth complemented the ingredients well. We also ordered additional oysters, which were delicious with a light broth and the umami of the oysters. We left the restaurant feeling full after ordering more yakitori. What stood out to me this time was the perfect grilling of the yakitori and the deliciousness of the oysters, which my wife also agreed with. While not extremely cheap, I believe the prices were fair considering the deliciousness of the food.

Located a convenient 5-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station, this popular yakitori restaurant recently started serving oyakodon lunches. The exterior and interior have a typical izakaya feel, with a small space that includes counter seats on the first floor and table seats on the second floor. I was seated at the counter on the first floor and ordered the oyakodon for 1200 yen, which came with a detailed explanation of the carefully selected ingredients and preparation method. The dish featured charcoal-grilled Kyoto jidori chicken marinated in salt koji, topped with a Kyoto brand egg, and served with a double broth of chicken and dashi. The rice used was a premium brand chosen specifically for the oyakodon. The dish was served in a small pan with the ingredients and rice separated. Overall, the oyakodon was decent, although the egg portion was significantly larger than the chicken, which was slightly tough due to the salt koji marinade. While it didn't quite meet my high expectations, it was still a satisfying oyakodon experience.

Recently, the existence of "oyakodon" has been buzzing on Instagram and Twitter, so I couldn't resist and went to try it out. This place had just started serving "oyakodon," so it wasn't on my own "Kyoto Oyakodon List" yet. However, when I found out that the famous Yagyuuemon was somewhat involved, I came with high expectations. The restaurant is located in the former location of a place I had visited before, called Charcoal Grill Hibachi, and it seems like they are using some of the same interior items. I sat at the end seat of the counter, checked the menu, and took some photos. Since I already knew what I wanted to order, I waited until I finished looking at the menu before calling the server to place my order. I ordered the "Charcoal-Grilled Oyakodon Set." The set includes rice, miso soup, a shallow pot with the ingredients for the oyakodon being cooked over solid fuel, a small side dish, and pickles. The rice served is called "Nikomaru," selected by Yagyuuemon. The miso soup contains hand-kneaded fu and young seaweed. The side dish is eggplant and ginger tempura, and the pickles are daikon and kelp with sansho pepper. The server explained that you can adjust the firmness of the egg to your liking and to cover it with a lid and let it cook until you think it's good. The chicken was grilled over charcoal, giving it a fragrant and firm texture. There were additional options like extra egg yolk or quail eggs to satisfy your egg cravings. However, I prefer my rice a bit softer, so I was a little disappointed this time. Despite that, the way they serve the oyakodon is similar to Yagyuuemon's, giving customers quite a bit of freedom in how they enjoy it. Since the rice portion was small, I ended up with leftover ingredients in the pot, so I ended up eating just the ingredients with a spoon. I considered getting more rice, but since it wasn't clearly stated and there was no verbal explanation, I gave up, thinking, "Maybe it's not possible?" I wish I had asked because it would have been great to have the option for additional eggs.

In Kyoto at night. I wanted to eat yakitori, so I wandered around Kyoto Station area. It took me a while to decide on a restaurant. Finally, I settled on this place! I had Akia beer in a bottle and hot sake. They also had oden, so it was the ideal restaurant for me. Thank you for the meal.

It's not just a regular izakaya, they also have craft beer like And Now. I started with my favorite Garisawa. The pickled ginger makes a great snack after drinking, so it's really cost-effective. Choosing obanzai dishes to accompany your drinks is also a good idea. The yakitori and oden are average, tasty but nothing special. I like the atmosphere of slowly grilling the urume iwashi, there are plenty to enjoy. Sake goes well with everything.

Today, I went to drink with my junior near Kyoto Station, and we decided to go to a casual restaurant called "Yakitori Tsujiya". We were seated at a table on the second floor of the bright and cozy restaurant. We started with a toast with draft beer and ordered "Dashimaki" and "Takowasa" as appetizers. The "Dashimaki" was fluffy and delicious. We also added a platter of 5 kinds of oden. As it is a yakitori restaurant, we ordered a platter of 5 kinds of yakitori when we felt like having more drinks. The yakitori, cooked slowly until tender and fragrant, was a delight. It takes time to cook the yakitori thoroughly, so it's better to order early, as the waiter suggested. We also added "Tsukune" and "Kawa" to enjoy the juicy and flavorful yakitori. However, the prices were a bit on the higher side. This restaurant may not be ideal for heavy drinkers.

I came here after work on June 4, 2020. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is great. I ordered enoki mushrooms, chicken tenderloin, chicken meatballs, chicken liver, chicken gizzard, chicken skin, and chicken tail. The way they cook them is amazing and incredibly delicious. I love Tsujiya because the portions are generous and the grilling is top-notch. It's the best yakitori restaurant in the universe. Thank you for the delicious meal. I will definitely come back. I will appreciate all the ingredients in this world. I'm calling for delicious food♪ The more I eat, the more power overflows♪

Came on the night of Saturday, November 16, 2019. It seems they just opened today. Ordered a variety of dishes. The fried horse mackerel was crispy and delicious. The oden had a comforting taste and was excellent. The grilled chicken skewers were cooked perfectly and incredibly tasty, it was impressive. I am grateful that there are such wonderful restaurants in Japan. Thank you for the delicious meal. I will definitely go again. I will savor every ingredient in this world with gratitude. The taste is neither outstanding nor disappointing, just average. I think the yakitori is delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, but the service is disappointing. There seems to be a lack of coordination between those in charge and those taking instructions. Drinks were slow to come as well...

It was a beautiful restaurant. They have a wide variety of drinks. The alcoholic drinks like chu-hi were delicious without being too strong. The food portions were a bit small. It seemed like there were a lot of tourists. The only thing I didn't like was being asked to say my reservation name in full.
