I visited for breakfast around 9 am and there were quite a few customers, probably because it was a holiday. I ordered the croissant sandwich set. The croissant was crispy and the mayonnaise inside was not too sour, which was perfect for the morning. The filling was egg and bacon. I was worried about the portion size from the photo, but the light texture made it just right. The dressing for the cabbage had sesame and vegetables, allowing for flavor variation. The coffee was also easy to drink. If I could have such a wonderful meal in the morning, I feel motivated to do my best for the day. Thank you for the meal.

There are limited edition menu items at the Kodai-ji Temple store, which are not only delicious but also have a good cost performance! I ordered the limited edition Hayashi Rice. I also had a lunch set with salad and the Kodai-ji Temple limited edition coffee, which was very reasonably priced. After that, I had the limited edition Kodai-ji Temple dessert, Moegi. It was also delicious and unique to Kyoto (*¯꒳¯*). This cafe has a touristy atmosphere that is special to Kyoto.

I used to visit the Uramu Takoyakushi store often, but when I visited after a long time, I found it had closed down. I was disappointed, but then I found this new shop. It is located on a prominent corner on the way to Kodai-ji Temple. The pasta I used to enjoy, Borsena, is still available. I tried it right away. The milk tea I always ordered was also delicious. In the Takoyakushi store, the milk tea used to come with a small biscuit on the saucer, which added a nice touch, but that service is no longer available, which is a bit disappointing. They also have a blend coffee called Nene, which is very easy to drink and delicious. I bought Nene coffee beans to take home.

I visited this popular shop after waiting a bit. I tried the parfait and coffee that I had been curious about. The parfait was so filling that I didn't need anything else, and the coffee helped me relax. The service was just right, not too pushy. Next time, I'll try the matcha parfait.

You can have a satisfying meal from the morning. The restaurant is located halfway down the hill from Kodai-ji Temple, offering a pleasant atmosphere and a nice environment.

Maeda Coffee is a well-known coffee shop with branches in Kyoto and even in Tokyo. I stumbled upon it while taking a walk near Kodai-ji Temple and felt like taking a break. The atmosphere inside the shop was calm and filled with a cozy cafe vibe. I ordered a blend coffee and its warmth spread through my body, especially on that cold day. I would like to visit their main store next time. Thank you for the delicious coffee.

I met a curry restaurant on the way to Kiyomizu Temple, Ninen-zaka, and Yasaka Shrine in the early morning and had their morning set. The power of morning curry is amazing. Maybe because it's morning, I could taste the spices more sensitively. Morning coffee is a must. It was delicious.

On December 28, 2022, I visited Kiyomizu-dera early in the morning and then stumbled upon Maeda Coffee's Kodai-ji Temple store while walking down. I had breakfast there and decided to try their morning curry, which was quite rare. Up until then, the only morning curry I had tried was leftover curry from the previous day at home, so this was my first time having authentic morning curry. It was not too spicy, but had just the right amount of kick to help energize the body. Curry is definitely a great option for breakfast!

Travel meal. Early morning sightseeing in Kyoto. I arrived here after walking down Sannenzaka and Ninnen-zaka. They open from 7 am, which is a great ally for early morning sightseeing. The restaurant has about 10 tables and a few counter seats. It was not too crowded around 8:30 am on a weekday, with about 5 groups of customers throughout.
High Temple Morning Set 1350 yen
First, they serve orange juice, cutlery, and dressing. The morning set that followed had quite a volume. Thick toast, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, a mountain of cabbage salad, and cafe au lait.
I started with the salad. Both dressings, one vegetable-based and the other sesame-based, were delicious, but the vegetable dressing was especially good. The sausages had a classic ketchup flavor that was irresistible. The toast was crispy and thick, giving it a satisfying texture. Finally, I enjoyed the cafe au lait slowly. The illustrations on the cup were cute, with different pictures on each side.
After relaxing in the quiet and calm atmosphere of the restaurant and recharging, it's time to resume sightseeing. Thank you for the meal.

I took a break while strolling around Yasaka Shrine and stopped by this cafe. The smell of curry inside caught my attention, but since I had just eaten okonomiyaki, this time I ordered a cafe au lait and a set of matcha sweets. The set included matcha soft serve and roasted green tea ice cream, both of which were delicious. Personally, I preferred the roasted green tea ice cream. It was a refreshing break!

The inn where I stayed on the second day did not have their dining area reopened due to the impact of the coronavirus, so we had the option of either getting a boxed breakfast or going to a nearby café for breakfast. We decided to go to the café to accommodate my husband who prefers bread for breakfast. Upon checking in, the front desk advised us that Maeda Coffee usually has a line forming 30 minutes after opening. Following their advice, we arrived at the café five minutes before opening, and were allowed inside even though there were no other customers yet. The café had a long interior layout, and we sat at a table in the back to look at the morning menu. My husband ordered the toast set, and I ordered the BLT sandwich set. Each set came with orange juice and a drink – my husband chose coffee, and I chose café au lait. The breakfast was quite filling, with a plate of toast served with shredded cabbage, potato salad, tomato, scrambled eggs, bacon, and two types of dressing. The BLT sandwich was made with a panini-like bread, thick slices of bacon, crispy lettuce, and a mayonnaise-based sauce. It was quite substantial and satisfying. We also enjoyed the strong coffee and mild café au lait. Overall, we had a delicious breakfast at Maeda Coffee in Higashiyama, although we found that the breakfast menu at their branch we visited in December was different and not to our liking, which made us realize that the menu can vary depending on the location. Thank you for the meal!

On Wednesday at 7:19, I was worried that Maeda Coffee Kodai-ji store might be temporarily closed or have changed their operating hours, but I decided to go anyway since there was no announcement on social media. There were three groups of customers already inside, more than I expected. I ordered the Kodai-ji Morning Set for 1,300 yen, with an iced coffee. I noticed that Maeda Coffee seems to have slightly different menu items (like limited editions) at each store when I checked their Instagram. The service was polite and I could relax. It seems like the Kodai-ji store is popular among tourists compared to the main store. The sausages had a generous amount of ketchup, making the flavor quite strong. I ended up feeling very full. On my way back, I was able to take photos at the unmanned Yasaka Koshindo temple. Morning activities like this are quite enjoyable. Thank you for the meal.

At a quaint inn in Kyoto, I forgot to order a morning set, but the innkeeper kindly recommended a nearby spot where I could enjoy a special breakfast. I ended up at a place known as the official supplier to Kodai-ji Temple, where I ordered the "Ryunosuke" special blend coffee and thick toast. The toast could have been crispier, but it still hit the spot. I usually enjoy convenience store coffee, but the high-quality Ryunosuke blend did not disappoint. Now, it's time to visit my father's grave.

I went to Maeda Coffee in Kyoto today for lunch. Maeda Coffee is a popular cafe in Kyoto, located on the street facing the Nanmon Gate of Kodai-ji Temple. The atmosphere inside the cafe is nice, with coffee cups and glasses lined up behind the counter. The menu includes classic dishes like Neapolitan spaghetti that have been popular since the cafe's founding. The limited menu at the Kodai-ji Temple branch includes dishes like Omurice and Hayashi rice. I ordered the Omurice set, which came with a salad. The dish was beautifully presented with a generous amount of rice, egg, and Hayashi sauce. The soft-boiled egg added richness to the dish, and the tender meat, large mushrooms, and onions provided a satisfying texture. The salad was fresh and served with a vegetable dressing, making it a nice contrast to the flavorful Hayashi rice. The portion size was generous, and the set menu was filling on its own.

Maeda Coffee is located in a Kyoto-like location. I enjoyed a morning with my beloved dog on the terrace. We shared a croissant sandwich set. The egg was fluffy, and the bacon had just the right amount of saltiness, making the croissant nice and crispy. The coffee was delicious as always! It was a pleasant morning.

I visited this shop by chance while wandering back to the parking lot after sightseeing at Kiyomizu-dera. The shop looked delicious, so I was drawn in. I had the Uji matcha and kinako parfait. It was packed with the goodness of matcha ice cream, kinako powder, and the richness of black sesame, all perfectly balanced. It was incredibly delicious and I didn't get tired of it. I heard they also serve morning meals, so I definitely want to visit early in the morning next time I come to Kyoto for sightseeing. Thank you for the meal!!

Maeda Coffee, located in Koudaiji, offers a morning menu on their terrace seats. Their premium blend "Tomiku" is delicious. Made with specialty coffee from around the world, this luxurious blend has a smooth texture, a sweet and long finish, and a rich flavor with a crisp aftertaste. With a rich and fruity flavor similar to red wine, this medium-roasted blend has no acidity, and stands out with its richness and sweetness. It is an excellent blend.

Maeda Coffee, a branch in Kyoto, is located about 100m west of Kodai-ji Temple. I thought they opened at 7 am, so I peeked in around 6:50 am. They were already done with the opening preparations. That's early! I was hungry, so it was very convenient. The basic morning set is 700 yen, with various other options priced at 1400 yen, so be careful. The basic set includes coffee, toast, and two types of salad with two dressings, which is quite satisfying. A great spot for when you're in a touristy area and want to start your day with a nice breakfast.
