Luckily, I was able to secure a seat at the end of the counter. They offer noodles and rice bowl dishes, but they have a wide variety of set meals. The daily special is tonkatsu. The daily special is priced at 980 yen, while the tonkatsu set meal is 1500 yen, making it a good deal. Without hesitation, I ordered the "daily special set meal" for 980 yen. The staff member asked the kitchen, "Do we have any mixed rice left?" You can choose between white rice and mixed rice. The dishes were quickly and skillfully prepared in front of me. The tonkatsu was already fried. It arrived promptly. The set meal was luxurious with a variety of dishes. The simmered mackerel in a small dish was a nice touch. The daily special set meal also came with a chawanmushi. It was warm with a rich broth and plenty of ingredients. The mixed rice had a gentle flavor and was delicious. The main dish of tonkatsu was served on a plate with plenty of salad and vegetables underneath the tonkatsu. A half-boiled egg was also served as a bonus. The tonkatsu, although pre-made, was warm. The crispy coating contrasted nicely with the meat, and the sauce was delicious. Customers kept coming in, and there was a line forming behind me. However, the turnover was fast, and they efficiently served the customers. Despite being in a somewhat remote location, it's clear why this restaurant is popular with its satisfying dishes.

When my daily special set meal arrived, it included mixed rice, three side dishes, miso soup, and the main dish of spicy fried chicken. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and coated in spicy sauce, which looked delicious! I dug in and it was indeed delicious! The side dishes were well-prepared with flavorful taste. Although I chose mixed rice, I thought white rice would have been better with the fried chicken. However, the mixed rice had a simple and good taste too! All of this for under 1,000 yen and you'll be satisfied! When in Kameoka, this place will definitely be my go-to spot!

Today I went on a day trip to Kyoto for the first time in a while. It's a bit tiring to do a day trip, but I visited Kameoka for the first time. After finishing some work in the morning, I had lunch at a nearby teishoku (set meal) restaurant. It's known for being delicious and having generous portions around here. I ordered the daily special (today was chicken tempura) teishoku for 950 yen (tax included). When the teishoku arrived, it looked so luxurious and had a generous amount of food. It's amazing that you can get this much for this price. If this was served in Tokyo, there would definitely be a long line. The chicken tempura was so tender and the batter was fluffy and delicious. It may not be Tanba Jidori chicken, but the chicken around here is still good. The miso soup, chawanmushi, and simmered dish were nostalgic and comforting flavors for someone from Kansai like me. The Kansai-style seasoning, which I haven't had in a while, is truly delicious. I wish this restaurant would move next to my company. Thank you for the meal.
