The shop owner, Mr. Guseong Mun, who trained at the famous restaurant "Sakaimachi Rinanko" in Kyoto, and his mother, Ms. Jeong-Ae Jeon, opened this authentic Korean restaurant in 2016. For lunch, they offer Tejikuppa and limited edition Naengmyeon in the summer. In the evenings, they serve their specialty Takkalmaru, as well as various side dishes like Jjim and Namul. The signature dish is the Dejikuppa (1200 yen), a clear and flavorful soup made by simmering pork bones and aromatic vegetables for 7 hours. You can choose from three types of meat - pork belly, shank, or mixed. They also provide somen noodles on the side for added texture. Enjoy the meal until the end with side dishes like chive kimchi, radish kimchi, Korean condiments like tategi, and dried shrimp for flavor variations.

A Korean cuisine specialty restaurant near Kawaramachi Gojo. Despite it being a weekday night, the place was packed. We ordered the seaweed namul for 400 yen, half portion of bossam (boiled pork and wrapped vegetables) for 1300 yen, and half portion of beef tendon pancake for 1600 yen. Each dish had generous portions and we appreciated the option for half portions. Everything tasted delicious.

Whenever I go to Korea, I always make sure to have Tteokguk as my first meal. Honestly, there are not many good Tteokguk restaurants in Kyoto, but this place is still delicious. And it's cheap too. I was also satisfied with the Namul and Bossam besides the Tteokguk. I left with a full stomach. However, it can be a bit slow when the kitchen gets busy with only one person working. But overall, I would definitely want to go back to this restaurant.

I came here on recommendation but unfortunately, the restaurant was fully booked. It's a very popular place with a lot of people dining in pairs. We tried their signature dish called "Deji Kuppa" and it was delicious! It comes with rice, soup, kimchi, and somen noodles. The soup is light and you can add your own toppings like garlic chives. It was really tasty. We also shared the spicy tofu stew which was full of tofu and had a good kick to it. Since the stew doesn't come with rice, I recommend ordering it separately. It was a great recommendation and I would love to come back if I have the chance.

It's amazing. The atmosphere is great, especially with the kindness of the mother. Every dish was delicious! The chijimi is a must-try! It's crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, like takoyaki. A dish you could eat forever. And the kimchi with persimmon in the photo was unforgettable. I want to eat it again. The tteokbokki was also rich and flavorful, and the chicken in the tteokbokki was tender. I will definitely go back soon.

In Kyoto, the owner of my favorite izakaya recommended a restaurant that specializes in Korean cuisine. My friend K and I love food and enjoy trying new places, but we haven't explored Korean cuisine much beyond the occasional bibimbap or Korean BBQ. The owner said that the concept of "jeon" (Korean pancake) would change for us after trying this place, so we were excited to check it out.
When we arrived, the counter seats were already taken, so we were seated at a table. All the other tables had reserved signs, indicating that this was a popular spot. The family-run restaurant had a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with the owner's wife and son providing friendly service. We started our meal with a toast of makgeolli and enjoyed some appetizers like fried tofu and simmered radish.
We ordered a variety of dishes, including a mixed namul plate, chapchae, and oyster jeon. The namul was fresh and colorful, although the portion was quite large for just the two of us. The chapchae was well-prepared with a generous amount of ingredients. However, the highlight of the meal was the oyster jeon - crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a flavorful batter that left us speechless.
Overall, we had a great time at the restaurant and felt like we were dining with friends. The excellent service and delicious food made this a memorable experience, and we can't wait to come back to try more dishes like deji kukbap, dakhanmari, and kimbap. It would be even better to visit with a larger group next time!

This is a revisit. This time, we ordered Takkalmaari because there were a lot of people. We also ordered a Kimchi assortment, Namul assortment, Japchae, Negi Jeon, Seafood Cheese Jeon, Kimbap, and Hotteok! Everything was delicious ♡ We ordered all of this, had about 2 drinks each, and it came out to about 3000 yen per person. It's still a wonderful restaurant that is cheap and delicious!

I went to a Korean restaurant for lunch today. "Korean House Gus-san" is a Korean restaurant located up the street from Gojo Tomikoji. They offer authentic Korean dishes like Tejikuppa, Bibimbap, and Jjigae for lunch. It's a place I visit occasionally. At the counter, there were various ingredients lined up. The salad that came with the lunch set had spicy seasoning on the tofu. The Naengmyeon had plenty of noodles in the broth, topped with cucumber, pork, and kimchi. The ice seemed to be frozen broth. The noodles were thin and had a chewy texture. I was able to enjoy the flavor of the broth and the texture of the noodles. It seemed like you could also drink the broth. It was a delightful lunch for this still hot season. I was able to enjoy authentic Korean Naengmyeon.

The Korean cuisine at this restaurant is delicious with great customer service. The friendly wife welcomes you with a lovely smile and greeting. Every dish is tasty, especially the sweet sauce for sashimi. The fragrant perilla leaves wrap is fresh and flavorful. The beef tendon pancake is fluffy and delicious. The Korean hot pot is excellent with a light salt flavor and a rich broth. Finishing with ramen or porridge is very satisfying.

Today's lunch was at a Korean restaurant called "Gussan Toko" in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto. The name itself is unique and funny. The restaurant is run by a mother and son, and it has a cozy and homey atmosphere. It's a small place, so it fills up quickly with just 10 people. The chairs are hard, like school chairs, but they have cushions which adds a nostalgic touch. I ordered the classic Bibimbap, which came with seaweed soup and kimchi. The Bibimbap was well-balanced with rice and ingredients, and the soup had plenty of seaweed which I liked. They also gave me some Gochujang as an accent. Instead of eating the kimchi separately, I mixed it into the Bibimbap. It felt like I was eating authentic Korean Bibimbap, although I've never been to Korea. Overall, it was a delicious meal for a reasonable price of 750 yen. Thank you for the meal, I will definitely visit again.

I was told that this is the best place for chijimi, and I ordered it. The chijimi had a thick dough with a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior. It was the most delicious chijimi I have ever had! The menu is limited, but the classic items are filling. They also offer lunch, so I would like to come back for that too.

On a Saturday at 12:10, I snuck out of the office with a colleague to visit this place. There was one group already seated. I always noticed this place on my way home at night, thinking it seemed quite busy, and I finally got the chance to visit. There were three lunch options available: Tejikuppa for 950 yen, Bijichige for 850 yen, and Bibimbap for 750 yen. My colleague and I decided to try the Tejikuppa. Inside the restaurant, there were instructions on how to eat the food posted, and the owner also gave us a verbal explanation after serving the food. The chopsticks and spoons were made of metal, giving it an authentic feel. The tea seemed to be corn tea. The seasoning for the hot pot (dried shrimp, perilla seeds, miso) was served on a shared plate for the two of us, so I felt a bit bad for my companion as I had a cold. It would have been better if there were separate spoons for dividing the seasoning. The food was piping hot, and we got plenty of vegetables, warming our bodies. It was fun to be able to season the food ourselves. The meal came with side dishes like rapeseed blossoms in soy sauce, pickled vegetables, and Korean-style chilled tofu. After eating, I blew my nose with a pocket tissue, and the owner kindly brought me a box of tissues, saying "I'm sorry for not thinking ahead." The atmosphere was very homey. We made it back to the office just in time for lunch, but it might be difficult to come during peak hours when it's crowded. Still, I would love to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

It was an at-home feel kind of place. Even though it's not in a busy location, customers kept coming in during lunchtime. Some people were turned away because the number of seats was limited. The lunch menu only had cold noodles or deji kukpa.

I prefer the spicier kookpa over the mild one for my first time trying Tejikookpa.
