On a Sunday that felt like autumn, after neglecting ramen activities for a few months due to being busy with daily life, I finally visited "Tonkotsu Ramen Kaoru" in Kameoka. Kameoka has few ramen shops, so it was nice to find a place with a parking lot that can accommodate 3-4 cars. I ride a motorcycle, and in Osaka, I usually have to find a place to park my bike before looking for a ramen shop, so having a place with parking in the outskirts was a relief. - Arrival time: 12:35 PM - Crowdedness: 80% The interior is narrow with only a counter, but it has a cozy atmosphere with just the right amount of light. The friendly young owner and a girl, maybe a part-timer, made the place comfortable. --- - Ordered the Kumamoto-style tonkotsu ramen with fried chicken set - Serving time: 7 minutes They offer Kumamoto-style tonkotsu ramen with a base of milky pork bone soup, as well as tonkotsu ramen with ma-yu (garlic oil) and garlic chips, and spicy miso tonkotsu ramen. The visually striking bowl with ma-yu and fat has a bold flavor that doesn't disappoint from the first bite. Those who love ma-yu will surely enjoy it. The saltiness level was lower than expected, but personally, I prefer a bit more saltiness to bring out individual flavors without being too overpowering. The ultra-thin noodles allow you to enjoy the wheat flavor easily. The set comes with three large pieces of fried chicken and white rice. The moment you bite into the fried chicken, you can taste the richness of the ginger. The coating is slightly thick with a crispy texture. --- After a long time of dining out and having ramen, it was a good experience. Thank you for the meal. Now, I will ride from Kameoka City to Nantan City, visit Rurikei, and head to Nose Town.

"When I asked the owner of the Kumamoto-style tonkotsu ramen "Tonkotsu Ramen Kaoru," he said that the Kumamoto style involves adding ma-yu and garlic to the tonkotsu ramen. I was torn between ordering extra noodles or rice to put in the soup, but ended up just having the regular ramen. It was delicious and really settled my stomach. The Kumamoto-style tonkotsu ramen had tasty, tender chashu. However, without the ma-yu and garlic, it felt a bit light. I had trouble finding the restaurant as it faces Route 9, so I ended up passing it."

I visited a ramen restaurant called "Tonkotsu Ramen Kaoru" near JR Chiyogawa Station in Kameoka City. The restaurant opened on January 12, 2023, and has a typical ramen shop interior with only counter seats. The sight of the owner filtering a large amount of pork bones in the back of the shop was impressive. The menu includes three types of ramen based on tonkotsu soup: "Tonkotsu Ramen (830 yen)," "Kumamoto-style Tonkotsu Ramen (930 yen)," and "Spicy Miso Tonkotsu Ramen (880 yen)." There are also set meals that include rice dishes with ramen. The recommended dish by the manager is the "Kumamoto-style Tonkotsu Ramen." The noodles are cooked quickly, so the time from ordering to serving the ramen is short. The Kumamoto-style Tonkotsu Ramen has a creamy pork bone soup with seared chashu, wood ear mushrooms, and bean sprouts on top. It is topped with plenty of garlic-infused oil, giving it a flavorful punch. The straight thin noodles blend well with the garlic oil and garlic chips. The crunchy texture of the wood ear mushrooms adds to the deliciousness. The melt-in-your-mouth fatty chashu was also delicious. The soup was so tasty that I couldn't resist ordering an extra serving of noodles (+120 yen). It was quite a generous portion. After finishing the extra serving, I was pleasantly full. It felt like I was tasting Kumamoto ramen in Kyoto after a long time. The strong garlic punch was to my liking.

Shop along the national highway, with about 3 parking spaces in front. Visited after 1pm, waited for over 20 minutes with 4 people. Only 8 counter seats and 2 staff, so it's understandable. Ordered tonkotsu ramen for 830 yen. Tonkotsu broth was not too distinctive, noodles were medium-thin. Easy to eat, but I personally prefer a stronger flavor. Overall, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is a ramen restaurant called "Tonkotsu Ramen Kaoru" in Kameoka City. I visited during the early evening on a weekday, and there were no waiting customers so I was able to enter smoothly. The restaurant is located along Route 9, near JR Chiyokawa Station. It has a traditional Japanese house-like exterior with a red lantern as a sign. There is parking space for a few cars. The interior has a calm and clean atmosphere with only counter seats, and it is managed by the owner and a male staff member. The service was earnest and likable. The menu offers three types of ramen: Kumamoto-style tonkotsu, tonkotsu, and spicy miso tonkotsu, with prices varying depending on toppings. You can also add extra noodles for 120 yen. There are side dishes like fried chicken, gyoza, and chashu, as well as set menus combining these with ramen. On this day, I ordered the Kumamoto-style tonkotsu ramen for 930 yen with an additional chashu topping for 280 yen. The ramen arrived with a blackish soup with visible ma-yu oil, topped with chashu, wood ear mushrooms, green onions, bean sprouts, and sesame seeds. The soup had a strong aroma of ma-yu oil and a thick, rich flavor with a noticeable pork bone base. It was rich but easy to drink, with a strong and clear taste. The noodles were thin straight noodles with a slightly firm texture, cooked al dente. When combined with the wood ear mushrooms and bean sprouts, you could enjoy a variety of textures. The chashu had a bold seasoning that complemented the strong soup well, with a good balance of lean and fatty meat and a generous portion. Overall, I thought it was a rich and flavorful tonkotsu ramen with plenty of umami from the ma-yu oil. I believe the regular tonkotsu soup would also be delicious. I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

A new tonkotsu ramen restaurant opened last month in Chiyogawa, Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture. I found out about it on a website for exploring new restaurants. Chiyogawa is located in the northern part of Kameoka, which is adjacent to the northwest of Kyoto City. Along National Route 9, there are various shops lined up, making it lively. There is parking space for four cars alongside the building, which is renovated from a private house. The interior of the restaurant has about 7-8 counter seats, arranged in an L-shape. It was around 1 pm, and there were customers coming in and out constantly. The basic ramen comes in two types: Kumamoto-style tonkotsu with garlic ma oil, which is more flavorful and costs 100 yen more than the regular version. Let's go with the Kumamoto-style. The aroma of garlic is irresistible, stimulating the appetite. The soup is thick, possibly from the melted collagen, giving it a rich and creamy texture that coats the thin straight noodles well. It's also nice that there are plenty of toppings like chashu and wood ear mushrooms. This level of authenticity in tonkotsu ramen is quite rare, so I'm sure many people will be pleased with it.

I visited the restaurant a little after 1:00 PM and had to wait for about 20 minutes outside before being seated at the counter. I ordered the recommended "Kumamoto-style tonkotsu" ramen (930 yen) from the menu, which had three types of noodle dishes. The bowl came with chashu pork, wood ear mushrooms, chopped green onions, and garlic chips, with a drizzle of ma-yu oil on the soup. The soup had a rich and creamy tonkotsu flavor, with a hint of garlic chips enhancing the taste. The noodles were firm and had a good chew, complementing the soup well along with the mushrooms and green onions. The chashu pork was tender and fatty, making it even more delicious when combined with the soup. In addition to ramen, they also offer set menus like fried chicken, tulip (fried pork cutlet), and spicy cod roe rice bowl, which would be great for those looking for a hearty meal. The restaurant opened on January 12th and has already become quite popular, with lines forming and selling out before 7:00 PM. If you want to make sure to try their food, I recommend visiting during lunchtime.

I heard that the owner of this shop opened a ramen restaurant in Chiyogawa, so I visited a few times. There is always a long line, but Mr. Kaoru's spicy miso ramen is amazing!! It's seriously addictive! The tonkotsu ramen is also delicious, but personally, I got hooked on the spicy miso ramen. It's by far the best miso ramen I've had recently. And the chashu is so tender and tasty.
