I went to Kyoto towards the end of summer and this article is about my experience. This time, I planned to visit some shops in Kyoto. For lunch, I went to "Iidaya Souhei" near Kyoto Station, and in the evening, I visited "Akagakiya" along the Kamo River, where I had a light drink at these two long-standing izakayas. Then, near Shijo Omiya, I went to "Tera" and "Shomin", which are rare standing bars in Kyoto. When I thought I had enough to drink and was heading back to my accommodation, I stumbled upon a standing bar called "Tomariki" with lanterns outside. It's a new shop that didn't exist when I searched for standing bars on Tabelog. Let's stop by and check it out! Upon checking to write this article, I found out that this new shop opened on June 27, 2016. Inside the shop, there is a long L-shaped counter. There are two women working, including a stylish mama-san. Large plates of side dishes are displayed on top of the sushi case. The food looks delicious and the place seems wonderful! First, let's start with a drink... They have bottled Kirin Lager and Super Dry, and you can also keep a bottle of shochu or whiskey. Plain chu-hai is simple and I opted for that. They also offer options like tomato, ginger, and turmeric. The menu is written on a whiteboard with various delicious side dishes available. You can enjoy home-cooked side dishes made by the mama-san. The mushroom kinpira, a large plate of side dish, looked healthy. This "small dish" costs 250 yen. They also have a selection of monthly sake, such as Fukunaga Autumn Cherry Blossom Ginjo Hiyaoroshi from Hiroshima, Tanigawadake Junmai Hiyaoroshi from Gunma, Eetokodori Nanoe Junmai from Shiga, and Atagonomatsu Senretsu Karakuchi from Miyagi. Each glass costs 500 yen. I felt like having another drink, but considering my intoxication level, I decided to pass this time. Thank you for the meal.
