This is a tonkatsu specialty restaurant located on the 11th floor restaurant street of Kyoto Station's station building. Whenever I come to Kyoto, I always crave the tonkatsu from Katsukura. Even though they have branches in Tokyo, I still prefer to eat it in Kyoto. I usually eat at the Sanjo area, but I recently found out that they have a shop at Kyoto Station as well. On my way back from Uji, I had an early dinner at this station building shop before it got crowded. The atmosphere was calm and very nice. My favorite menu item at Katsukura is the seasonal vegetable roll. This time, I chose the vegetable roll and pork loin cutlet set! It cost 1,780 yen including tax. I enjoy grinding the sesame seeds myself while waiting, I love the aroma at that time. And the pickles on the table are also very delicious. It makes me feel like I've truly arrived in Kyoto. Once again, I enjoyed delicious tonkatsu in Kyoto. I thought it might be difficult to dine alone at the station building shop, but it was not the case. The seats were spacious and I enjoyed my meal. On the way back, I could pretend to be a Takarazuka actress by descending the grand staircase outside. At night, the staircase is illuminated and it becomes even more like a show review, which was fun for a Takarazuka fan like me. Overall, it was a luxurious experience at the station building shop. Thank you for the meal!

I had the hirekatsu juu (deep-fried pork cutlet on rice) and it was not the typical katsudon taste, but more like sukiyaki flavor (it even had konnyaku noodles, so it was like sukiyaki). The meat was tender and satisfyingly filling, making me feel happy. They offered free cabbage, so I added that, but the portion of the hirekatsu juu was so big that I couldn't finish it (I felt bad about it). The dressing for the cabbage was really delicious. The miso soup was hearty with lots of ingredients, and they even offered free refills, although I didn't take any. The pickles were also tasty, and I saw they had packs for sale to take home, so I thought about buying some to go with the dressing.

I visited the 11th floor restaurant floor directly connected to Isetan in response to a request from overseas customers. Despite it being close to closing time, there was a line of foreign customers. I ordered shrimp cutlets (shrimp fry), which came in a serving of 5 pieces. The batter was a bit thick. You can get refills on vegetables and rice, which was nice. It was delicious.

When it comes to tonkatsu, Katsukura is the best choice! Visited on 23rd March 2023. Overall rating: 5 out of 5. Taste: ★★★★, Presentation: ★★★★, Value for money: ★★★★, Customer service: ★★★★, Ambiance: ★★★★. The location is convenient and you can enjoy high-quality tonkatsu. It is always very delicious. Today, the cabbage seemed less crunchy than usual, but it was still very tasty. Thank you for the meal.

We went to Katsukura during our trip to Kyoto in 2023. Unfortunately, the weather was bad, so we ended up spending a lot of time around Kyoto Station. I had thought Katsukura was in the restaurant area of Isetan, but it was actually in the station building, CUBE. I ordered the 120g Tonkatsu with Ebi Fry, which was delicious. There were many foreign and tourist customers, reflecting the popularity of Katsukura. I also heard that Hirata Bokujou's Three-Element Pork was recommended, but you can only try it in Tokyo Midtown. Despite the crowdedness, I enjoyed my meal at Katsukura in Osaka before heading back to Kyoto via Itami Airport. I should have eaten at the airport branch of Katsukura since I had some spare time there. Thank you for the meal.

It's Kin Kyo-to. The station buildings are all super crowded with long lines. Where can you find a place with shorter lines? I chose tonkatsu. Established in 1930 as a coffee shop and expanded to a tonkatsu restaurant in 1994, this long-standing chain is centered in Kyoto. It was delicious. I ordered oyster fry and a 120g pork fillet for 2,380 yen (including tax). Thank you for the meal.

Fried food, white miso soup, and pickles were all delicious during my visit on January 31, 2023. I would rate it 5 out of 5. The taste was great, the presentation was good, and the cost performance was reasonable. The service, atmosphere, and environment were also good. It was my first visit in a while. The white miso soup was a specialty during this season, and today it was made with white miso. I ordered the famous Katsukura Zen set meal (large shrimp cutlet and pork cutlet) with an additional crab cream croquette. The crispy coating, large shrimp, tender pork, and rich crab cream croquette were all really delicious. I love pickles that go well with barley rice, and I ended up asking for a refill. It was a truly delicious meal. Thank you for the feast.

I visited the restaurant around 8 pm on a weekday and was able to get in right away without waiting in line. The place was almost full, mostly with Chinese customers, probably due to the Chinese New Year. I usually go to Katsukura in Tokyo or Kanagawa, but the taste is definitely better in Kyoto. I had the pork cutlet set meal, and the cabbage dressing was a must-try with yuzu dressing. There were two types of sauces for the tonkatsu, so I mixed them together. The tonkatsu was tender, and the rice was healthy brown rice. The highlight was the Kyoto-style miso soup with white miso, fu, carrots, taro, and burdock. It was creamy with a nice kick from the fu, and really delicious. You could have unlimited cabbage, miso soup, and rice. Thank you for the meal!

The restaurant is directly connected to Kyoto Station, making it easily accessible. It stays open late, which is convenient. When I went, there was a bit of a line but we were able to get in relatively quickly. The tonkatsu is light and refreshing, typical of Kyoto, and doesn't leave you feeling heavy. The miso soup also has a Kyoto flair with a hint of spiciness, and was really delicious.

I went to the famous Katsukura in Kyoto before heading back on the Shinkansen. It was quite crowded during lunchtime. After some deliberation, I decided on the set with fillet and cream croquette. It was delicious, but a bit on the expensive side. I probably won't come back. The exterior design is by Ke Yan, which represents Kyoto.

I was a little late for lunch today, but I felt like having tonkatsu because I wanted to treat myself after a busy year. The pork fillet was tender and delicious. You can have unlimited refills of rice, miso soup, and cabbage, which is perfect for men. The pickles were tasty, and I especially liked the spicy mustard in the miso soup. It was consistently delicious as always!

I really wanted to eat the beef cutlet sandwich at Inoda Coffee on the first floor of Kyoto Station. I thought I had checked properly and went there, but it was already closed an hour earlier than the information on Tabelog. So, I became a dinner refugee. I wandered around the station building looking for a restaurant. Since I had come all the way to Kyoto, I wanted to try lining up at a Kyoto ramen shop like Menya Musashi. But when I reached the ticket machine, most of the items were sold out and there was nothing left. There was another ramen shop with some menu items left, but I wanted to try Kyoto ramen, so I gave up. Still in cutlet mode, I headed to Katsukura, a tonkatsu restaurant in Kyoto. We had to wait a bit due to dinner time, but once we entered and placed our order, a small mortar with sesame seeds and a pestle were brought to us. While grinding, I waited for the cutlet. I had the 120g fillet of premium pork, which was delicious with a crispy coating. I wanted to have the 160g one, but I was already thinking about dessert later! My husband tried the oyster fry and fillet cutlet to compare with the premium pork, and he felt that the meat had a different aroma. In terms of texture, the premium pork had a finer consistency. At this restaurant, you can have unlimited refills of cabbage, barley rice, and miso soup. The miso soup with eggplant and nameko mushrooms was so delicious that we both had seconds! Also, the pickles with a shiba-zuke flavor were so tasty that we bought some as souvenirs. In the end, we were very satisfied. The beef cutlet sandwich will have to wait until next time!

Around 8:00 pm, I visited with one other person. It is located on the restaurant floor of The Cube 11th floor in Kyoto Station Building. The operation is managed by Fukunaga Co., Ltd., founded in 1930, a company that also operates Lipton. It is a tonkatsu chain originating in Kyoto, with stores in the Kansai region, Kanto region, and overseas. They aim to infuse Kyoto's traditional cuisine and techniques into their tonkatsu, creating a unique Kyoto-style tonkatsu. The interior is carefully designed, incorporating decorations inspired by Kyoto's seasonal events such as Gion Festival and Aoi Festival, as well as items like Hotei-san, Zhong Kui, Saga masks, and Kiyomizu-yaki pottery, reflecting the elegance of Kyoto. They use their own coarse bread crumbs for a crispy texture, and the cabbage is carefully selected from various regions across Japan depending on the season. The sauce is characterized by its smoothness, made with red wine, apple, and palm sugar. They also offer a rich sauce, which is blended with spices in a balanced manner. Depending on the store and season, they may offer brand-name pork from all over Japan. Here are some of the brand-name pork they have provided in the past: - Hirata Ranch Kinshu Pork from Yamagata Prefecture - Higo Asobi Pork from Kumamoto Prefecture - Iwachu Pork from Iwate Prefecture - To-no-Takumi Pork SPF from Chiba Prefecture - Kirishima Sanroku SPF Pork from Miyazaki Prefecture - Takumi-no-Sato Black Pork from Kagoshima Prefecture - Yonezawa Sangen Pork from Miyagi Prefecture - Takumi no Buta Sachiku Mugio from Hokkaido - Kyoto's Mochi Pork Sangen Pork from Kyoto Prefecture - Yoro Sanroku Pork from Japan - Hirata Ranch Sangen Pork among others, they also had Kyoto-style aged pork using Sangen Pork from Kagoshima Prefecture. [Dishes Received] ★ Yonezawa Sangen Pork Loin 160g (tax included 2,400 yen) I chose the Yonezawa Sangen Pork Loin, upgrading from the regular loin. Sangen Pork refers to a crossbreed of 3 varieties, so it is not a registered brand pork, but it has the advantage of maintaining a high level of quality. It has a moderate amount of fat and tastes relatively light. Grind some sesame, mix it with the sauce, dip the tonkatsu generously, and when you put it in your mouth, the fragrant flavor of sesame blends with the sweetness of the fat. [Overall Impression] Depending on the store, the interior design seems slightly more luxurious than KYK or Wako. You can enjoy your meal in a relaxed and elegant atmosphere. Thank you for the feast.

People in Kyoto supposedly prefer strong flavors, but that's beside the point - tonkatsu. I wasn't sure where else to go, so I decided to grab a bite before heading to the Kyoto Art Museum. The tonkatsu was delicious, and the chawanmushi was surprisingly large and interesting.

I went to Katsuraku, a famous tonkatsu restaurant located on the 11th floor of The Cube in Kyoto Station. The restaurant was clean and I was looking forward to trying their tonkatsu after not having it for a long time. It was lunchtime and the restaurant was not too crowded. I sat at a table with a nice view outside. The staff explained how to grind sesame seeds and mix them with sauce in a mortar, which brought back memories. The combination of sesame seeds and sauce was delicious. I ordered the following: ★I had the lunch set with a 160g pork cutlet (1820 yen including tax). The cutlet had a thin coating and the meat was tender and tasty. ★My wife had the vegetable and tofu skin roll with a 40g pork cutlet (1380 yen including tax), which included chestnuts, pumpkin, carrots, burdock, and mitsuba. We also had cabbage, rice, and miso soup. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied. It was so delicious!

I had a great deal with a set that came with Kyoto vegetables yuba roll cutlet and regular cutlet. Even though it's a chain restaurant, it's nice to feel the regional influence in the menu. I thought to myself that I wouldn't make fried food like this at home as I enjoyed it. It was my first time at this chain, and I found the system of grinding sesame seeds yourself quite interesting. The staff seemed well-trained and had a good attitude, even checking if I needed a refill. It seems like a family-friendly place with a wide variety of menu options. Using the regional coupon this time was the best choice. I will definitely come back again with a smile.

[Katsukura Kyoto Station Building The Cube Store] Located on the 11th floor of Kyoto Station, this tonkatsu restaurant "Katsukura Kyoto Station Building The Cube Store" is known for its strict standards and refined pursuit of tonkatsu in Kyoto. The seasonal vegetable-filled Yuba Maki Katsu and Hire Katsu are limited-time offerings that include edamame, baby corn, red bell pepper, green beans, and hijiki. The "Seasonal Soy Milk Cream Croquette and Hire Katsu" features three different textures of soy milk cream croquette that are moist and delicious. In addition to the crispy and juicy tonkatsu, there are two types of sauces available: an original sauce made with red wine and fruits, and a rich sauce blended with 11 spices. The meal comes with free refills of barley rice, domestic cabbage, and a hearty miso soup. I ordered the three-layered pork loin cutlet. It was delicious, but I personally thought it was a bit overpriced. It was my first time trying pork cutlet with grated wasabi and sweet soy sauce, and I felt that the sweetness of the pork fat stood out. I found that eating it with this condiment made the rice go down easier than with tonkatsu sauce. Thank you for the meal.

When I went to Kyoto Station, my niece and I had lunch here. We ordered the Joshu Takumi Pork Loin Cutlet Set 120g (1940 yen) and the Loin Cutlet Set 80g (1420 yen). The lunch rush was over, so we left early. The sesame seeds were freshly ground and the cutlets were delicious as always. We had extra rice and cabbage (you can also have extra miso soup) and had a satisfying lunch!

You can choose from a variety of famous and standard restaurants in the dining area of Kyoto Station Building. There are many foreigners here. This time, I opted for shrimp fry instead of tonkatsu, as I don't eat much meat. It was light and crispy, with five pieces that were cooked through perfectly, making it great for sharing. The large chawanmushi was decent, nothing special. As usual, I had seconds of cabbage. The miso soup was also delicious. Thank you for the meal.
