On a hot Friday, it was finally time for a haircut after 3 months. It was actually supposed to be last month, but I missed the appointment. My hair had grown quite long, and it was so hot! I really wanted to freshen up quickly. I met with a tipsy lady in front of the JR Biwako Line Hieizan Sakamoto Station, and we headed to Key-chan's (pseudonym) beauty salon. Key-chan, a friend of the tipsy lady, is a highly skilled hairdresser. She used to work at a famous hair salon in Kyoto, but now she has her own salon at her home in a rural area overlooking Mount Hiei. The salon is not advertised much, but it is very popular among those in the know. Key-chan only takes 2 appointments a day, so reservations are hard to come by. The reason for her popularity is her exceptional sense of style and technique, as well as her warm personality. I've been a customer for about 10 years, and I always make sure to adjust my work schedule to visit her during business trips. Although it is more expensive than going to a salon in Tokyo, I can't imagine going anywhere else. She is truly an artist. Today, I left my haircut in her hands, and when I opened my eyes after she was done, I saw a stylish middle-aged man with a sharp haircut in the mirror. I was thrilled! Key-chan has a great sense of style, and she always suggests different hairstyles for me. I left the salon feeling excited and refreshed. After the tipsy lady's haircut was done, we returned to the Hieizan Sakamoto Station. It was still early, but it was so hot that I felt like having a beer. I invited the tipsy lady to join me, but she was on a fasting diet and couldn't drink. It was a bit disappointing, but I decided to go to the "Beer Komachi" in Kyoto Station by myself. The tipsy lady's rejection was like a betrayal to the "God of Alcohol" we both deeply believed in. I arrived at the "Furukawa-cho Shotengai" in Higashiyama, and the atmosphere of the arcade was just right. I could understand why David Bowie, who used to live in Kyoto, frequented this place. The warm Kyoto air gently touched my freshly cut hair, and it felt oddly pleasant today. My destination was, of course, the "Beer Komachi." I rushed in as soon as they opened, my body covered in sweat. Oh, I was the first one here! I was so thirsty in this heat! I sat at the counter and immediately ordered a beer. Today, I wanted to drink the Sankt Gallen Pineapple Ale from Kanagawa, my favorite local beer from last time.
