I went for lunch on a regular day. The place is facing Marutamachi Street. Inside the restaurant, there are table seats. They have udon and rice bowl menus. I ordered the nabe-yaki udon with a small rice. It's a small restaurant with a nostalgic Showa era vibe. The nabe-yaki udon arrived. It has tempura, chicken, kamaboko, and more. The broth is delicious with a strong bonito flavor. It has a half-cooked egg which goes well with the udon when you mix it. The udon noodles are medium thickness. The tasty broth makes me want to come back again next time.

I stopped by in the middle of my business trip. The greenery along the walls of the shop looks cool, and the inside is well air-conditioned. It's quite comfortable. I had the herring soba for ¥650 and a small bowl of rice for ¥170. The taste is quite ordinary. Having a normal meal in this old-fashioned dining room makes me feel nostalgic and grateful in my everyday life. If I don't ask for anything extravagant, I'm perfectly satisfied with this. But if I were to be picky, I wish they had a lunch set menu with a special offer. I'd like the soba noodles to be more chewy. And the broth could use a bit more flavor to liven up the whole atmosphere of the shop...but maybe it's wise not to think too much about unnecessary things.

At lunchtime, the entrance to the restaurant I casually visited was reminiscent of a Western movie set, similar to Shinoda-ya near Keihan Sanjo Station. The interior of the restaurant was small with only table seating, and the decor felt old-fashioned, giving off a sense of history. I noticed various items placed around, creating a cluttered atmosphere. Upon sitting down and asking for the menu, I was told it was posted on the wall. I scrutinized the slightly tilted menu board to confirm my order: "Chuka Soba" for 500 yen and a small bowl of rice for 170 yen. While watching the TV playing in the background, my food arrived. The ramen had thin straight noodles in a simple soup base, with well-seasoned slices of tender char siu, sliced fish cake, bamboo shoots, and green onions. The small bowl of rice was a bit firm, served with pickled radish. The customers and the owner were chatting amiably, and it was clear that this restaurant was beloved by the locals.
