I purchased the Uji matcha Kyoto warabimochi while strolling around Kyoto. The gentle flavor and chewy texture are addictive! It's not too sweet, so I could easily eat too much. The matcha flavor is not too bitter and very enjoyable. The box is sturdy, so I could carry it in my bag all day without any issues. I will enjoy it little by little.

On July 5, 2023, Wednesday, at 1:26 PM, I entered the store. Today, I enjoyed a delicious plate and amazing ramen at Shinodaya with my security guard friend, followed by a refreshing Strawberry Frappuccino at Starbucks. Afterwards, I came to this store to buy Kyoto souvenirs for my family. I bought two packs of Yatsuhashi for about 600 yen in total. Thank you for the delicious souvenirs today. Thank you, Atsushi Hamamura. Thank you for reading my silly review until the end. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to comment. I look forward to your continued support. ❤️

I stopped by JTB's resting place to take a break. I was tired from walking and it started raining, so it was a relief. They served tea and snacks, which were delicious. I tried this snack for the first time and it was really good. My mother used to buy Senbei crackers like this. The banana flavor was surprisingly tasty. The Kyoto stroll was also delicious and my nieces loved it. I also purchased some items for delivery but haven't tried them yet. I'm sure they will be delicious as well.

I heard that there is a dessert shop near Gion Shijo Station where you can eat Yatsuhashi, so I decided to visit. I found out that "Yuko" is a product of Iizuka Yatsuhashi, even though I have lived in Kansai for over 20 years (°▽°). Surprisingly, many Kansai people do not eat Yatsuhashi (probably because Kyoto is nearby and it's not something they go out of their way to eat as tourists). So, embarrassingly, I had very little knowledge about Yatsuhashi, and I used to think that the soft side of raw Yatsuhashi was the real Yatsuhashi. LOL. Here, there is an interesting menu where you can eat roasted raw Yatsuhashi. You can top it with red bean paste or dip it in vanilla ice cream. If you roast it until it's almost burnt, you can enjoy a taste of Yatsuhashi that you've never experienced before! It's not raw Yatsuhashi or regular Yatsuhashi... it has a warm and meltingly soft texture. When heated, it becomes soft. I want everyone to try this. It seems like even local people in Kyoto don't know much about this. I felt proud to discover this hidden gem.

I purchased this on my way back to Nagoya from Osaka. It's called "Nama Yatsuhashi Yūko", a collaboration product with Peko-chan from Fujiya. I enjoyed it with a black coffee, but for me, it was too sweet, like really really sweet. It had a milky taste that was recreated well.

Enjoying traditional Japanese sweets for dessert! I tried the Yuzuko Matcha Yatsuhashi from Izutsu Yatsuhashi, which is a matcha-flavored Yatsuhashi with sweet red bean paste inside. The aroma of the Yatsuhashi, the slight bitterness of the matcha, and the elegant sweetness of the red bean paste all come together perfectly. This treat pairs well with Japanese green tea or genmaicha, but also goes nicely with black tea or coffee. Located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, this is a must-try for those who love Japanese sweets!

I bought various Yatsuhashi as souvenirs in Kyoto. I bought the simple cinnamon-flavored raw Yatsuhashi, 18 pieces for 200 yen. It's a popular and affordable snack. The taste is the usual Yatsuhashi flavor with a natural cinnamon aroma, and it has a unique texture. It's been a while since I last had it, but it seems like a good accompaniment to Japanese tea.

When you think of Kyoto, you think of Yatsuhashi. At Ito Yatsuhashi in Gion, there is a cafe on the second floor. Since it's in Gion, there are many tourists depending on the day and time, so it may be difficult to shop leisurely inside the store. In the past, Yatsuhashi was only filled with sweet red bean paste, but now there are collaborations with Milky and other flavors of Yatsuhashi, as well as seasonal limited edition Yatsuhashi. There are also samples available. In addition to Yatsuhashi, there are other sweets like ohagi, dorayaki, and sablé. The sablé looks cute and has a long shelf life, making it a good souvenir. I purchased the Yatsuhashi Crunch and was deeply impressed by its delicious taste when I bought it during a trip to Kyoto in the past.

I went to the 77th National Famous Confectionery Exhibition on the 7th floor of the main building of Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi. I tried a dorayaki from the comparison corner. It was around 3:00 PM on a Friday, and it wasn't too crowded. The dorayaki had a pancake-like texture, not too fluffy but more like a slightly hardened homemade pancake. The dorayaki wasn't as soft as expected, and the red bean paste filling had chopped up nama yatsuhashi (traditional Kyoto sweet). It was a bit lacking in filling and I thought there would be more. I don't plan on buying it again next time.

You can bake Yatsuhashi on the table ♬ With ice cream, red bean paste, and smooth red bean paste as toppings, you can enjoy various flavors and it's the best ♬ Matcha warabimochi ♪ You can feel Kyoto and it has an elegant taste, very delicious. You can also order cotton candy, which you can enjoy at the cafe downstairs. Plus, it's the same price ♪ One order per person system.

Today in Kyoto, I purchased the "Nama Yatsuhashi (with sweet bean filling)" from one of the several makers of Yatsuhashi. Some makers only sell the skin of Yatsuhashi as "Nama Yatsuhashi," but this one includes sweet bean filling. When the air gets chilly, warm tea with sweet bean snacks like Yatsuhashi is delicious. Yatsuhashi is especially good as a tea accompaniment.

Just a 1-minute walk from Keihan Gion Shijo Station. Located very close to Minamiza Theater where Kabuki is performed. This is a long-established shop famous for Kyoto souvenirs, especially the popular "Yatsuhashi". I visited here to use the "Kyoto Support Coupon". On the first floor, there are plenty of options including autumn limited Yatsuhashi and Halloween limited pumpkin Yatsuhashi, making it hard to choose. When I asked the staff for recommendations, they suggested the standard combination of cinnamon and matcha, but I decided to go with the recommended Miyama Milk by Onoe Matsuya. In addition to Yatsuhashi, they also sell various Kyoto-style goods such as folding fans, coasters, hand towels, and cosmetics used by geisha. I purchased Miyama Milk (¥702) and 5 pieces of cinnamon Yatsuhashi (¥300), and they also gave me a complimentary piece of Inzutu Yatsuhashi without red bean paste. The second floor is a spacious cafe where you can enjoy autumn shaved ice and the specialty "Yakiyaki", making it a great rest stop during your Gion exploration. The Miyama Milk comes in a pack of 10 pieces with a shelf life of about 1 week. It is a Yatsuhashi made with Miyama milk from Miyama Town in Kyoto, with a chewy skin that has a hint of cinnamon fragrance and a milk-flavored filling that goes well with coffee. In conclusion, Inzutu Yatsuhashi Honpo has over 200 years of history and has multiple stores in popular tourist spots like Gion Honten, Arashiyama, Kiyomizu, and Shinkyogoku, making it easy to shop. It's recommended to start with the classic cinnamon Yatsuhashi or matcha, and then try seasonal limited editions or rare flavors like chocolate or strawberry. I went to Kyoto for my wife's training program, which had just reopened. Although I was just dropping her off, I decided to have lunch, do some shopping, and have tea before heading back to the parking lot from Shijo Street to Sanjo. On the way, I came across the main store of Yatsuhashi Inazuto, a famous brand of Yatsuhashi. My daughter had asked for some fresh Yatsuhashi as a souvenir, so it was perfect timing. The store is located in a multi-story building, with a café on the premises. Originally, it used to be a tea shop. While Yoko is the most famous, my wife and daughter prefer the fresh Yatsuhashi without any fillings. So, I bought two packs of fresh Yatsuhashi and YUKO's strawberry and chocolate flavors. I also bought two of a Japanese sweet that looks like a type of rice cake with red beans on top (the receipt said "Matcha Minasuki," but I'm not sure of the official name). Fresh Yatsuhashi is not a rare treat, but it's not something we eat often, so I've never compared it with other brands. I always assumed they all tasted the same, but maybe they each have their own unique characteristics when compared side by side. Nevertheless, the fresh Yatsuhashi (Nikki) comes in a small package with 28 pieces for only 378 yen, making it a budget-friendly souvenir. Yoko (5 pieces) is even cheaper at 300 yen. I think it used to be 250 yen not too long ago. It's a delicious and affordable treat that's perfect for souvenirs. The best part is peeling off each piece of fresh Yatsuhashi and savoring it. Thank you for the meal.

From Osaka to Nara to Kyoto. When it comes to Kyoto, it's all about Yatsuhashi. I love Yatsuhashi, although I think it might be too spicy for those who don't like cinnamon. There are dry Yatsuhashi, like traditional senbei, and also fresh Yatsuhashi with sweet red bean paste inside, and I prefer the fresh ones. While browsing for souvenirs on the approach to Kiyomizu Temple, we visited "Honke Nishio" recommended by child① and also "Ganso Nishio" which had high ratings on Tabelog. I will review each place, but I realized there are various types of fresh Yatsuhashi available. This one from Izutsu Yatsuhashi was bought by my husband without my knowledge. Since I'm not sure where he bought it, I will review it at the main store, please forgive me. The fresh Yatsuhashi from Izutsu Yatsuhashi had the most delicious red bean paste. It was a set of cinnamon and matcha flavors, and both stood out with the deliciousness of the red bean paste. It was a triangular fresh Yatsuhashi. The seams of the triangle were slightly off (I'm at an age where I notice small details). I thought the cinnamon flavor was mild! When you visit Kyoto, make sure to visit Izutsu Yatsuhashi. By the way, the product name for Yatsuhashi is "Yuko." Thank you for the meal!

On weekends around 4:00 PM, it was not crowded. Located right near Gion Shijo Station on the Keihan line, this is a well-known traditional store for Yatsuhashi. The store also has a café. When you think of Kyoto, you think of Yatsuhashi. There are many varieties, but this time I chose the "Traditional Fresh Yatsuhashi." It was delicious as always. It seems to have a stronger cinnamon scent compared to the current Yatsuhashi. The sweetness also feels more subdued. It was easy to eat, and I finished it in no time. I might prefer this over the regular Yatsuhashi. Thank you for the meal.

The saba sushi and soba lunch set came with Yatsuhashi. The saba sushi was delicious, but the soba was just okay. It seemed like the soba was hand-made. It was a rare opportunity to try this place. The customers seemed to be regulars. It was delicious! It's been a while since I had Yatsuhashi, so it was a nice treat.

After a New Year's party at my dad's hometown for the first time in 2 years, I took a walk alone in the snowy streets of Kyoto, feeling refreshed and invigorated. I bought some Idzutsu Yatsuhashi at a souvenir shop in front of the Golden Pavilion that was open on New Year's Day. I've bought Idzutsu Yatsuhashi a few times before, but this time I noticed it said "Cinnamon Cookies" on the package... (laughs) Personally, I prefer the baked Yatsuhashi over the raw one. It's crispy, chewy, and consistently delicious! No matter how many times I eat it, I never get tired of its deliciousness. The first Kyoto souvenir after the New Year break for me is always Idzutsu Yatsuhashi. Thank you for the meal.

As a typical middle-aged man, when it comes to Kyoto souvenirs, all I can think of is Yatsuhashi. My wife seems to prefer matcha sweets, but it's unimaginable for me to buy anything other than Yatsuhashi at Itoh Yatsuhashi store. Lately, Kyoto-style warabimochi shops have been trending in Tokyo, but hmm...

The requested souvenir from my daughter #1 turned out to be a red bean paste-free nama-yatsuhashi. I had never even heard of it before ( ̄▽ ̄;) I bought two each of the red bean paste-free nama-yatsuhashi Nikki and matcha flavors, as well as two of the collaboration product Milky. Additionally, I purchased the standard assortment of nama-yatsuhashi Yūko for my younger sister and her husband. The red bean paste-free nama-yatsuhashi has a chewy texture that is enjoyable. Since it's red bean paste-free, even women can eat it without feeling guilty. This is a good choice! Personally, I preferred the matcha flavor. The nama-yatsuhashi Yūko (Milky) is like a taste of home. It might be good for children or Milky lovers. Overall, nama-yatsuhashi is a classic Kyoto souvenir, but recently, matcha-flavored sweets seem to be popular. Keep it up, nama-yatsuhashi!

In Gion Shijo, there is a shop that sells Yatsuhashi. Intrigued by the photo of zenzai outside, I went inside and found a tea house on the second floor. Looking at the menu, they had a zenzai with chestnuts called "Kurama" and one without chestnuts called "Koganehiko Kameyama," and they also had a cold version. I thought the only difference was whether there were chestnuts or not, but the appearance is quite different as well. From the photo on the menu, it looks like the Kameyama has more distinct whole azuki beans. I chose the Kameyama as it seemed to suit my taste. When I tried it, the appearance matched my expectations with each bean being relatively firm. The soup was not too watery, and in terms of sweetness, it was a bit on the strong side. Due to the impact of COVID-19, tourism is not an option right now, but this place seems perfect for a break during a stroll in Kyoto.
