I reserved a meal on a houseboat at Arashiyama, where we sailed back and forth between the boat dock near Togetsukyo Bridge and the ryokan Starry Kyoto. The boat was powered by two boatmen. The cost was 4,400 yen, and it included a bento box with yudofu from the restaurant "Kyoryori Minshuku Ikkyu." The wooden boat had a small space with a wooden roof and walls, and aluminum sashes. It was warm enough with just one stove, and it got hot towards the end due to the heat from the yudofu. The yudofu was fluffy and had a smooth texture, and the ponzu sauce was delicious. The bento box included three tiers: rice, simmered dishes (pumpkin, yam, and wheat gluten), and small side dishes (tofu, fish cake, rolled omelette, chestnut, and meat rolls). Alcohol was BYOB only. The cost performance of the food was not great, but the dining experience in such a unique location made up for it.
