General of the Great Shrine, a shopping street that stretches for about 400m from Nishioji-dori on Ichijo-dori to Nakamokuji-dori in front of the gate of the General of the Great Shrine. It is a quaint corner with a lingering atmosphere of the Showa era. Every autumn, the Yokai Costume Parade, known as the Ichijo Hyakki Yako, is held on this street, which is also called the "Ichijo Yokai Street." Walking along this street from the General of the Great Shrine towards Senbon-dori, you will come across a traditional mochi confectionery shop called "Nakamura Mochi." The storefront features a fox-faced yokai! Unable to resist, I ended up buying two types of ohagi (130 yen each) and yomogi mochi (130 yen each). Back home, I enjoyed them with green tea. The yomogi mochi had a herbal aroma that was reminiscent of traditional Chinese medicine. Both the ohagi and yomogi mochi were delicious.

Located near Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, in a local shopping street in Kyoto called Daishogun Shopping Street, there is a mochi shop. This shopping street is known as "Yokai Street". In front of the shop, there are unique yokai dolls displayed, which is quite fun. I was thinking of getting some traditional Japanese sweets, but the round mochi looked so delicious. I was hesitating because I thought you needed to grill it before eating, but the shop owner told me that I could eat it as it is. I tried it with some doubts, but it was still soft and the natural flavor was really good. It felt like I rediscovered the deliciousness of mochi after a long time. Thank you very much.
