The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and the yuba (tofu skin) was delicious. The cost performance is also good. The soba had a Kyoto-like taste and was on the softer side. Personally, I prefer noodles with a stronger texture, so I felt it was too gentle, but this may be characteristic of Kyoto-style soba. I visited around 1 pm during the consecutive holidays and had to wait for an hour. If I have the chance to go again, I will try the fresh yuba rice bowl next time.

My spouse and I visited the restaurant and ordered "Stage Soba" and "Kyoto Limited Seiryu Beer (Alt type)". Personally, I didn't like the Alt beer very much. The view and atmosphere inside the restaurant were great, and despite being full, we were able to enjoy our meal in a relaxed manner. The food was delicious, the portion size was just right, and we were in the perfect condition to explore the area around Kiyomizu-dera. When I visit Kyoto again, I will definitely come back to this restaurant.

Saturday 9:30 at Ocha-ryou in Oto. The pottery shop opens at 9:30, but here opens at 10, so I decided to visit the pottery shop first and then wait. The weather was neither hot nor cold, so it was perfect for a break. I entered at 9:58 and was directed to my favorite seat, a sofa in the back. The sofa seats quickly filled up with other customers. I ordered the Matcha Set for 1,300 yen at 10:04 and it arrived promptly. The lineup of matcha sweets would be irresistible for those who love sweet matcha treats. I wished I had brought my daughter who loves Japanese sweets with me. The door to the terrace was slightly open, letting in a cool breeze. If you order sweets at a tea shop where they make tea, you get a complimentary cup of delicious tea, but here they serve cold water, so if you want tea, be sure to order separately. I thought it was a great place for a break when you're tired from walking. Lunch service starts at 11, so be mindful of that. Thank you for the meal.

I had herring soba and matcha at "Oniwa Charyo" in Kiyomizu, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto. The tofu skin dish I was looking forward to was sold out. The clientele consisted entirely of foreign visitors. The area around Kiyomizu Temple was filled with either foreign tourists or school trip students.

Hidden spot right next to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Otoha Saryo offers a wide range of dishes from soba and udon to desserts. After much deliberation, I decided to try the "Eel Tempura Cha-zuke." I didn't see many reviews mentioning this dish, but let me tell you, it was amazing! The eel tempura was crispy and delicious, with the eel retaining its original flavor despite being deep-fried. The thick eel piece was so satisfying that one bite wasn't enough. I first tried a piece without dipping it in tea, and it brought out the true deliciousness of the eel. The eel was fluffy, tender, and warm, truly impressive. When dipped in tea, the tempura coating softened slightly, and a different kind of goodness emerged with the dashi flavor. Although Otoha Saryo is a hidden gem in the back streets near Kiyomizu Temple, it's still a tourist spot, so it gets crowded quickly. While the soba and udon might be delicious, I highly recommend trying this dish!

This is a cafe with a Japanese taste located on the way up to Kiyomizuzaka. During the tourist season, there is often a long line outside. There is nothing special to say about the food and drinks, but the location is definitely the best feature here. You can enjoy a beautiful sunset sinking into Kyoto in the evening. The menu includes typical cafe items as well as soba and Kyoto cuisine. It may be a bit touristy, but it's worth visiting for the location alone.

It has been many years since I visited Kiyomizu-dera. However, there were so many school trip students that it gave me a headache (cries). So, I made a quick escape! If you go down a side street from the souvenir shops, there are no kids (laughs). I ended up at this shop. It was still before lunchtime, so I only ordered drinks. I had the limited edition Kiyomizu beer for 700 yen, a hot coffee for 500 yen, and a white bean paste and mochi dessert for 850 yen. The limited edition beer was just okay. The dessert was decent, but it still felt expensive. Well, the view and atmosphere are nice, and there are no noisy kids, so I guess that's the price you pay (laughs).

There is a cafe at the foot of Kiyomizu-dera where you can enjoy a stunning view ☕️ From the window seats, you can overlook the cityscape of Kyoto! The atmosphere is like a traditional restaurant, and I felt a bit nervous when I visited haha. The smooth noodles were refreshing, perfect for summer, in the cold kitsune udon with fresh yuba and Kujo green onions. It was my first time trying fresh yuba, and it was delicious! They also have a variety of desserts like parfaits and shaved ice, making it a great place to relax and enjoy the view ☺️✨ ◼️Ordered items (tax included) Cold kitsune udon with fresh yuba and Kujo green onions - 1,350 yen ◼️No account for the shop #OniwaSaryo #KiyomizuGojo #KiyomizuGojoGourmet #KiyomizuGojoLunch #Soba #Udon #FreshYuba #KujoGreenOnions #Kyoto #KyotoGourmet #Lunch #Cafe #Dinner #Foodie #Rice #Tabelog #Gourmet #Gourmetstagram #Foodies #FoodieGirls

As you walk along the middle of Shimizuzaka, you'll come across a sign for Asahi-zaka. Passing through a narrow alley with pottery displayed, you'll find Otoha Saryo. I ordered the "Stage Soba," which is served in a dish modeled after the stage of Kiyomizu. The small dishes offer a variety of flavors, including 9 different tastes like yuba. You can enjoy unique Kyoto flavors and savor the view while dining leisurely. The ingredients may vary depending on the season.

Visited around 12:00 on June 12th (Sunday). Although it was stated that there was a 30-minute wait outside, it took about 30 minutes until the food arrived, as indicated on the waiting list. The location may be a bit hard to find, but it is in a calm place with great views and atmosphere. I was torn between soba and decided to order the yuba rice bowl. The combination of yuba and sauce was excellent and very delicious. It may be considered a tourist spot, but I thought 1700 yen for lunch was a bit expensive. By the time I left, there was quite a line.

After the Golden Week holiday, I went sightseeing in Kyoto. After visiting Sanjusangendo, I headed to my main destination of the day, Kiyomizu-dera. However, I got stuck in traffic on the way to Kiyomizu-dera, so I decided to get off at the bottom of the hill and walk up. Along the way, I found this Japanese restaurant on Asahi-zaka side street. But when I arrived, it was exactly 12 o'clock noon, and I was surprised to find a 2-hour wait. So, I wrote my name on the reservation sheet and decided to go visit Kiyomizu-dera first. However, even taking my time, I returned in just 1 hour. Thankfully, there was a lovely waiting room, so I patiently waited there. It took 1 hour and 30 minutes before I was finally seated. Unfortunately, I wasn't seated by the window, which would have offered a fantastic view of Kyoto city below. I ordered two sets of soba noodles for 1350 yen each and, since there was nothing that caught my eye on the menu, I also ordered a vanilla ice cream for 500 yen. The food was served after a 26-minute wait. The soba set included soba noodles, tempura, and sesame tofu. The soba noodles were made from locally sourced soba flour from Fukuchiyama Yakuono. The noodles had a firm texture and were quite flavorful, although I prefer a more elastic and supple texture. The soba broth had a good dashi flavor and was not too sweet. The tempura shrimp was slightly undercooked, but the batter was crispy. The vegetable tempura was average. Overall, the soba set was decent in terms of taste and value for money, considering it was a tourist spot. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant. Thank you for the meal!

On a regular day around 3:30 pm, it was bustling. Located a little off the main path of Kyoto's Kiyomizu Temple, this Japanese cafe has a charming exterior and interior. The spacious interior only has table seating, allowing for a relaxed atmosphere. The ceiling is low, adding to the cozy feel. Situated on a slightly elevated spot with half of the walls made of glass, the view is excellent. Tables by the window allow you to enjoy the scenery. The menu consists of both meals and cafe items, with a good balance. This time, I opted for the cafe menu. I tried the White Dumplings with Sweet Red Bean and Matcha Ice Cream priced at 850 yen. Taste: 3.4, Visual: 3.2. It was simply delicious. The red bean paste and matcha ice cream were not too sweet, and the agar jelly added a refreshing touch. There was a bit too much agar jelly, and the prices might be a bit high due to the touristy location. The taste was average, but the great view, quiet ambiance, and leisurely experience made it very enjoyable. Thank you for the meal.

Near Kiyomizu Temple, I wanted to do some shopping and take a break, but all the cafes seemed to be full and it was hard to find a good time for a snack from afternoon to evening. However, I discovered a hidden gem that is surprisingly close to Kiyomizu Temple. The entrance is shared with a pottery store, so if you don't know, you might not realize there is a cafe inside. I found out about it when I bought some small plates at the pottery store during a previous visit. Since it was already late and the cafe was closed, I didn't go in at that time. My mother wanted to see more plates, so we visited the store and then took a break before dinner. Luckily, a window seat with a great view was available. Even though we weren't very hungry and had dinner later, when you're traveling, you tend to overeat because you think "it's just this once." So, I had the nama-fu zenzai, and my mother, as usual, had a beer. We each went our own way. The nama-fu zenzai was as expected, neither good nor bad. But the location was great. I was grateful for the opportunity to relax in a comfortable sofa seat with a nice view. My mother enjoyed her beer with a good view and was satisfied. Overall, there might not be a standout menu item that is exceptional, but as a rest stop, it's a great place. [Bill] Kolsch @700, Nama-fu zenzai @950, Total @1650 (including tax)

I visited Onshicharyo at the approach to Kiyomizu-dera around 10:45. It's located near the entrance to Kiyomizu-dera, halfway up Asahi-zaka, and offers a lovely view of downtown Kyoto. You can enjoy a meal and tea with a fantastic view. I used to hesitate to enter this crowded place, but this time I was able to enter easily and enjoy the wonderful hospitality, scenery, and atmosphere. The terrace seating is spaced out for your safety. It may be a bit cold now, but they provide knee blankets and cushions, so it's worth visiting on a sunny day. We tried the Matcha Zenzai for 850 yen and Hojicha Latte for 600 yen. The relaxed atmosphere is truly luxurious. We had a wonderful time and will definitely visit again.

A shop located at the top of Asahi Hill near Kiyomizu-dera. They have terrace seating with a nice view. Menu includes Tempura Assortment (2 vegetables + 3 shrimp), Kyoto-style Nabeyaki Udon, and Matcha-themed desserts. The shrimp in the Tempura Assortment is plump and delicious. The Kyoto-style Nabeyaki Udon is topped with egg, yuba, shrimp tempura, shiitake mushrooms, aburaage, and flavorful fu. It's very tasty and warms you up. The Matcha-themed desserts, especially the Matcha Daifuku with strawberry filling, are incredibly delicious. The cakes and warabi mochi are also tasty, but the matcha flavor may be a bit subtle. Overall, very satisfied and would love to visit again.

In the hot summer, I believe that Otowa-yama suits well, which is my personal theory. Nowadays, this area has become like Harajuku. In the past, it was all about Otowa, but I was surprised to see that there are fewer Otowa shops now. I remember there used to be multiple tapioca drink shops competing. So, these kinds of shops are like a new force. I sought refuge from the heat. I gazed at Asahi-zaka from Kiyomizu-zaka to Chawan-zaka, which seems to be operated under that name. The shaved ice served here was on the verge of collapse when it was brought out, maybe due to the heat. Visually, it shouldn't be served like that! The taste, however, was delicious.

Good evening! From Fushimi Inari to Kiyomizu-dera, we wandered around the tourist spots in the area, and decided to explore around Yasaka as well. While strolling along Kiyomizu-zaka, we stumbled upon a lovely shop called "Onjyo Charyo" on Asahi-zaka, which connects Kiyomizu-zaka and Chawan-zaka. This historic slope houses about 6 shops including an art gallery, dining establishments, pottery workshops, and cafes. One of them is the shop we visited this time, Onjyo Charyo. Although the sake tasting room "Tasting 336" was closed, it seemed like a nice place for sake lovers. We entered from Kiyomizu-zaka this time. The entrance is grand and exudes a sense of luxury. The interior of the shop is very charming. We were guided to a sofa seat with a view of the side-by-side buildings, but it seemed a bit difficult to eat, so we opted for a table. The shop had a nice atmosphere, and we decided to try their soba. The menu offers a variety of options, including set meals and drinks. We ordered soba sets and a bottle of beer. While waiting for our food, we went out to the terrace seat. The view from there overlooking the Higashiyama (outside of Kyoto) to Nakagyo and Sakyo (inside Kyoto) was amazing. The soba dishes arrived, and they were beautifully presented. The stage soba was a limited quantity item and it was delicious. The soba, tempura, and side dishes were all well-prepared and tasty. The broth was a bit strong but overall, it was a satisfying meal. With 9 side dishes, tempura, and soba at this price, it felt like a good deal. Moreover, being able to enjoy this meal with a view of Kyoto's scenery was wonderful. The male and female staff were very polite and provided excellent service. It was a great experience dining at this Kyoto tourist spot. Thank you for the meal, we will definitely visit again.

It's a very calm space☆ It may be a rare opportunity to relax so elegantly like this. It's been a long time since I've seen so few people around Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto. (It used to be like this in the past) ・Shiratama Zenzai @850 I thought the terrace seats looked nice, but the wind was strong today so we ate inside. It was an elegant zenzai that wasn't too sweet. I would like to visit again, thank you for the meal!

Whether you agree or not, it is important to prevent the collapse of the medical system. It is also important to protect the front lines of healthcare. However, it is a fact that service industries, food and beverage, and non-essential businesses are also important for protecting Japan's industries, employment, economy, and overall economic situation. The quiet and deserted Kyoto tourism scene presents an opportunity! I visited because I thought Kyoto would be too crowded, but now you can enjoy it at a leisurely pace. However, it was very hot and humid ('A`). Maybe it's better to have some soba for dinner? I stumbled upon this restaurant while wandering around, and it has a nice atmosphere. The soba dipping sauce has a strong flavor of kelp. I thought it would be a light soy sauce since we are in the Kansai region, but the sauce is actually quite rich. The soba noodles were satisfying! I wonder if they serve soba-yu (hot water used to dilute remaining sauce)? I didn't ask, and none of the other customers ordered it. There are various toppings and condiments, so it doesn't get boring, but the soba noodles themselves seem to take a back seat. It's a double-edged sword. However, I left feeling satisfied and my hunger was satisfied. Thank you for the meal! If couples or young couples enjoy the scenery and stylish interior, this place is perfect! Thank you for the meal!
