Hello Dolly in Kyoto's Pontocho district is a great spot for Jazz Night! The retro interior and cute sign outside caught my eye as I walked through Pontocho. I sat at the counter and enjoyed the jazz music playing from the records. They even take requests! It was nice to listen to records again, with that vintage sound. This Jazz Bar has been visited by the famous singer Ed Sheeran! The cocktails were also delicious.

Salty Dog Ram Bar in Pontocho, where I had a Martini Glass and a Grasshopper for about 6,000 yen. The seat at the back by the window offered a slight view of the Kamo River. The atmosphere was dark and cozy, with jazz music playing softly, making it a relaxing place to hang out. It was unclear if there was a cover charge, and they did not offer any snacks.

Bar hopping. A bar with a unique feature of jazz in Ponto-cho, which has been around since ancient times. I sat in a position where I could see the Kamo River, but now there is a floor and the view is not that great. I was thinking of going with a Colton Blue Martell, but since it's a whiskey bar, I went with a Macallan on the rocks. It's delicious, a whiskey after a long time with no food to go with it, just alcohol. This pattern is not really my thing. But, it's delicious!

A jazz bar located about 300m into Pontocho. Moody jazz plays in the background, creating a different atmosphere from the bustling outside. The dimly lit interior makes time feel like it's passing slowly. Visited in March and ordered a small bottle of Heineken for 650 yen. There's a music charge of around 900 yen starting from 8 pm. Whiskey options include Old Forester, Double Harper, etc. for 800 yen, and cocktails range from 950 yen. I'd like to visit again for a live performance once the stay-at-home period is over.

Weekend day trip to Pontocho for a night of drinking. Finished work at 3pm and arrived at Kyoto Station around 5pm. Wandered through Pontocho via Keihan Gion-Shijo Station and planned to catch the last Shinkansen back. Started with delicious meat and wine at Mimasuya Italiano, then stumbled upon a jazz bar while walking south. Decided to just have a light drink for the third stop. The bar had live jazz music playing, with live performances every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Ordered Johnny Walker Black (on the rocks), Apple Teaser, and Raisin Butter, totaling 6,600 yen. There was no detailed receipt, but I assume the cover charge was a few thousand yen. About half of the customers were Westerners, creating a global atmosphere. The dim lighting added to the cozy ambiance. Enjoyed whiskey while listening to jazz – a fantastic spot for jazz enthusiasts. Thank you for the delicious meal!

In the district of Pontocho, there is a JAZZ Bar where live performances take place three times between 8:00 PM and midnight. If you want to enjoy live music up close, you can request in advance to wait inside while enjoying drinks. The atmosphere at the counter and nearby table seats is excellent, and you can still enjoy the music. Keep in mind that there is a seating charge, but considering the quality of the performance and drinks, it's not too expensive.

Jazz is amazing and the seasonal fruit cocktails are the best.

I'm disappointed that live jazz performances have been suspended recently. I wonder if it's because of the coronavirus. I hope they can resume soon! The atmosphere is fantastic and it's a great spot for a date. The only side options are chocolate or nuts.
