I visited the restaurant Sabrina in the underground shopping area Porta at Kyoto Station. For my first visit lunch, I had the Beef Harami set meal for 1,485 yen and a glass of red wine for 300 yen. I didn't have high expectations since it was the cheapest menu item, but the portion was generous and the meat was tender, making it feel like a good deal. The grilled vegetables had a mild seasoning but were still tasty. However, the onsen egg was served in a difficult-to-eat container and ended up spilling, creating a stain on my pants. It was my own fault, but I couldn't understand why there was an onsen egg with steak.

The underground mall Porta at Kyoto Station has been renovated with new shops, making the lively underground mall come back. I had lunch at Sabrina, a yakitori restaurant, and had the beef tongue set meal. It was delicious and filling, with tender meat that was easy to eat.

Today's lunch was at "Teppan & Kushiyaki Sabrina". It is a teppanyaki restaurant located in the Kyoto Porta Nishi Block in the underground shopping area in front of Kyoto Station. The restaurant is open and has no walls, with signage separating the inside from the outside. The area around Kyoto Station is crowded with tourists and the restaurants are all busy. The menu includes a daily set meal, but it seems to be a fixed menu. The blackboard at the entrance mentions "Moritaya meat". They offer a variety of meats including beef, pork, and chicken, but I chose the "Domestic Beef Kalbi Teishoku" for 1500 yen. You can see the meat being cooked in the open kitchen. The tables and decor have a casual modern feel. The table setting looks more cheap than casual. It takes quite some time for the teppanyaki to be served. The meat is the highlight. The onion soup with wheat gluten seems out of place. The salad consists of asparagus, paprika, okra, and bacon, but the portion is small. A side dish of onsen tamago is included. It is topped with bonito flakes and seaweed, giving it a Japanese touch. The meat is enjoyed with sauce and grated ponzu. The kalbi has a good portion size but is slightly small. It is flavorful with delicious fat, but the sinew is noticeable. This is a convenient place to enjoy meat near Kyoto Station.

For dinner at Kyoto Station, I met up with someone coming from the Shinkansen platform, so we decided to go to Porta. We wanted to try the yakitori place, but unfortunately they didn't have their regular menu available that day. It would have been helpful if they had informed us before we entered. We ended up ordering various items from their different menu, like beef skewers, but the portions were huge! It's better to order in smaller quantities. The restaurant was full of foreign customers, and although the food was good, it didn't quite suit my taste. The bagna cauda was delicious and looked beautiful. I wonder if it would have been different if they had their regular yakitori menu available. Thank you for the meal.

"The 'Lamp Ichibo Steak Set Meal' is a steak where you can truly enjoy the taste of the meat. Not only the main dish, but everything else was also very delicious and satisfying. It's a great meal to have when you're craving meat during lunchtime. Also, the chopstick rest is cute (laughs)."

NEW OPEN on August 26, 2022 (Friday)! SABRINA, which is the first store in Kansai, is a teppanyaki and yakitori bar that focuses on meat. I visited this place with the intention of keeping my carbohydrate intake low at night, and I had high expectations. The atmosphere of the restaurant matches well with alcohol. While meat is the main focus, there are also other options like shabu-shabu, making it a great choice for meat and alcohol lovers. The meat was a bit tough for my liking, but the flavor was good, although the prices are a bit on the higher side. This place has a different vibe compared to Porta, so it might be worth a visit.

Kyoto Station's underground mall Porta Dining underwent a renewal, with the first phase opening on March 25th (12 stores) followed by the second phase on August 26th (12 stores) for a grand opening, totaling 24 stores. However, to put it simply, it felt overpriced and underwhelming. On August 26th, "Teppanyaki & Kushiyaki SABRINA" opened in Kyoto. I ordered the grilled beef harami set for 1,210 yen. The meat arrived quickly, but it was thin and disappointing. In comparison, for my usual lunch budget, I wouldn't pay more than 780 yen. The sample photo showed thicker meat, but the reality was different.

The chicken nanban with a Japanese-style sauce was delicious! My friends ordered the harami set meal and pork set meal, both of which were very satisfying with generous portions!
