This time, I received a considerable amount of gift vouchers for travel support. Before boarding the Shinkansen, I decided to stop by Isetan to use up the gift vouchers. I visited Nakamurafujikichi, where I tried their chocolates - matcha and hojicha flavors. They were delicious as always! Then, I picked up a matcha jelly dessert (450 yen) to enjoy on the Shinkansen. It had a refreshing and smooth matcha jelly texture, with chewy shiratama and red beans that added a nice sweetness. Mixing the jelly and red beans together made it even more delicious. It was a great dessert experience! Thank you for the meal!

Nakamura Tohkyu is known for their Hojicha jelly. In our home, Hojicha is a favorite, but this year they have a summer limited edition product, which is Nakamura Tohkyu's original blend tea "Nakamura Tea" made into jelly. The jelly has a bitter taste, and the green tea paste served with it is quite sweet, so it's best to eat them together. While eating, I felt like trying the cold "Nakamura Tea" as well. This Hojicha jelly "Nakamura Tea" is only available until August 30th. If you want to try it, hurry to Nakamura Tohkyu! By the way, the limited edition products of Hojicha jelly always come with separate red bean paste and white balls, which makes it difficult to neatly place them on the jelly. Is there no way around this...

This is a tea sweets shop located on the B1F of JR Kyoto Isetan, directly connected to Kyoto Station. The shop is operated by Nakamura Tokichi Hon-ten, a tea merchant established in Uji in the first year of Ansei (1854). They also operate a café on the 3rd floor of Kyoto Isetan. On a scorching hot day in Kyoto, my wife and I sought refuge in the air-conditioned basement and came across this shop. The cool sweets on display caught our eye, and we decided to purchase them to enjoy in our hotel room. We chose the classic "Matcha Green Tea Jelly" (451 yen) and the summer limited edition "Matcha Green Tea Jelly with Summer Fruits" (481 yen). The "Matcha Green Tea Jelly" has red bean paste and shiratama mochi on top of the matcha jelly. The jelly has a rich tea flavor, perfect for adults. On the other hand, the "Matcha Green Tea Jelly with Summer Fruits" has a separate compartment for you to add yuzu paste and shiratama mochi on top. The jelly is more intense than the regular matcha jelly, creating a surprising combination with the sweet and sour yuzu paste. The cold jelly with refreshing yuzu paste is perfect for summer, providing a cool and refreshing experience.

I purchased Matcha and Hojicha jelly. The jelly is not too sweet, but the red bean paste is very sweet. When eaten together, it balances out nicely. I felt that the Hojicha had a stronger and more delicious aroma compared to the Matcha.

The advice was to consume it within 1 hour of purchase to not miss the best timing. I chose the matcha jelly over the hojicha. It was moderately sweet with a rich matcha aroma. The texture was jelly-like with delicious white mochi and red beans.

The daughter and her husband helped with the work of the parents, and their friends also came to help. Even the little children, who were still in kindergarten, sat properly and waited for their mothers while basking in the sun. They seemed to have become smarter! The snacks they brought were mostly spring-themed dumplings, and one of them was a matcha dumpling from a famous shop known for its matcha sweets. I thought it might be too bitter for children, but it was actually sweet, soft, and had a subtle tea flavor. It disappeared in no time as the children enjoyed it. I only had one though. It was a nice sunny day for sunbathing, but I didn't dance like the children did.

Limited time offer "Spring Sakura" features white kidney beans blended with salt-pickled cherry blossom leaves, creating a cherry blossom-colored sweet bean paste. To complement this, the jelly is made denser than usual green tea jelly. The packaging is also cute, with pink and cherry blossom petals.

It's been a while since I had Nakamura Fujikichi's green tea jelly ♡ It's convenient to be able to purchase it at Isetan. At a reasonable price of ¥451 per piece. It has a strong tea aroma and flavor, which is delicious on its own, but it truly elevates when topped with green tea ice cream ✨ I recommend adding Häagen-Dazs green tea ice cream on top.

Nakamura Fujikichi's famous nama-cha jelly. There are often seasonal limited edition versions, but this time I bought the Valentine's Day limited edition "Koisuru Nama-cha Jelly" at the request of my partner. Instead of the usual red bean paste, it comes with raspberry cream, and I wasn't too excited about it at first. However, when I tried it, I found that it surprisingly goes well with the matcha jelly. As expected from Nakamura Fujikichi. I accidentally misjudged the ratio of cream, so towards the end, I was left with just the jelly, but it was still delicious on its own.

I watched a video recommending Kyoto souvenirs on YouTube or something, thought it looked delicious, and bought it. I feel like I could have bought tastier sweets for 540 yen. It's not bad, but the balance between price and taste is off. The portion is large, so it will fill you up.

I purchased the Mont Blanc version. Since it's autumn, the Mont Blanc version was available, so I decided to buy it. It has a nice balance of sweetness, and the jelly here is really delicious. The price is reasonable for this taste. It's a refrigerated product, but my family also enjoys it, so I will continue to purchase it. I will definitely buy it again.

I ate it on the Shinkansen on my way back with a takeout. It cost 450 yen. It had a smooth and slippery texture, different from the typical jelly. I felt a different kind of matcha flavor, not the usual "this is what matcha tastes like" kind of taste. The matcha jelly itself wasn't very sweet, and the sweetness came from the sweet red bean paste. The red bean paste was delicious. It's recommended to eat it within 3 hours, so it's delicate. For those who didn't have time to stop at a cafe, you can still enjoy it on the way back on the Shinkansen. They also sell it at souvenir shops near the Hachijo exit.

I infiltrated the wagashi (Japanese sweets) section of Isetan directly connected to Kyoto Station to look for souvenirs! When it comes to refreshing desserts in Kyoto, the top choice is... Houjicha (roasted green tea) jelly. I chose houjicha, while my wife chose matcha. We had them packed with ice packs and enjoyed them at home in the evening! The houjicha jelly had a mild sweetness with a cool and smooth texture that stood out. It was a delight to find two pieces of shiratama (rice flour dumplings) included. We also tried a bit of the matcha jelly, which had a stronger tea flavor with a clear "sweet bitterness". (Side note) I love shiratama so much that I end up calling them "shiratama-chan" (little shiratama) unintentionally. Am I the only one? (laughs) Thank you for the meal.

Solo diner recommended rating: ★★★★☆
This is a takeout-only shop. The famous matcha jelly can only be taken out for up to 2 hours, so it may not make it home in time. I purchased it as a dessert for the return Shinkansen ride.
- Matcha Jelly: 390 yen
The jelly has a chewy and bouncy texture that is exquisite. The matcha flavor is rich and you can also taste a slight bitterness. It is amazing when eaten with sweet red bean paste! The white mochi is also chewy and adds to the deliciousness. If only the carrying time could be extended a bit longer, I would definitely want to bring it home. It would also be a great dessert to enjoy in the hotel during your stay in Kyoto!

I ate a parfait at Nakamurafujikichi on the 3rd floor of Eito Paradise, and then I checked out the takeout store attached to it. I wanted to see other sweet shops, so I moved to the basement floor of Isetan. After looking around, I ended up buying jelly at Nakamurafujikichi on the B1 floor ♬ Matcha jelly 362, Hojicha jelly 362, excluding tax. The tea jellies are made soft, with sweet bean paste and mochi, covered in a clear, slightly firm, stretchy jelly. The sweet bean paste is delicious~♡ It really goes well with the jelly. The jelly is refreshing and cool ♬ I was surprised that the price was so low. I thought it would be about 100 yen more. I later found out that they also have a branch in Hankyu Umeda. I didn't know because I usually go to Tennoji and Namba.

This is Mr. Fujikichi's matcha castella. The bottom has a crunchy texture of zaramé, which goes well with the matcha flavor. The castella has a strong matcha taste and pairs well with warm tea. It has a dense texture, more like a gâteau au matcha than a castella. Truly the hallmark of Fujikichi. The matcha flavor is enchanting. The color is also beautiful, creating an exciting feeling. Thank you for the meal.

Mr. Nakamura Fujikichi has visited the main store and Ginza store, and I really like it. I purchased the following items to eat in my hotel room. What I had was as follows: ・Matcha Green Tea Jelly 391 yen Since it was already evening, the Hojicha flavor was sold out. The matcha jelly is smooth and not too sweet, and the combination of red beans, white mochi, and the clear jelly is delicious no matter how you eat it. The large plastic spoon provided was easy to scoop with and seemed like a well-thought-out size. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I truly appreciate that they opened a store in Ginza. It was so delicious that I will probably purchase it in Ginza again soon.

I'm at Kyoto Station about to catch the Shinkansen, but as usual, I have some time to spare. If I had an hour, I would think about it, but instead, I decide to go to the Isetan store in the station building. This time, I choose to purchase financiers from Nakamura Fujikichi. I didn't know that Nakamura Fujikichi, a renowned shop established in 1854, was located inside Isetan. I bought the "Financier Assortment" (3 pieces) (2 matcha, 1 hojicha) (881 yen). The matcha flavor is very rich, with a strong taste of almonds and butter giving it a rich depth. The texture is moist and delightful. The hojicha has a slight bitterness, but the sweetness and buttery goodness are still exquisite. This is really delicious. Next time, I want to sit down at the shop and leisurely enjoy these sweet treats. Thank you for the meal.

I finally bought a product that I had been interested in for a long time. There was a cafe on the upper floor, but there was also a shop in the basement of Isetan. They had matcha, seasonal limited edition items, and hojicha. The hojicha had a shelf life of 3 days. It was light and had a smooth texture with chewy white balls. Hojicha jelly for 362 yen + tax.

On Thursday at 7:00 PM, while walking in the basement of Isetan, I came across a showcase with delicious-looking jelly. When I looked up, I saw the words "Nakamura Fujikichi". Oh, I've never tried that before, I thought. So, I decided to take some home. I bought the following items: Green Tea Jelly [Matcha] for 391 yen and Green Tea Jelly [Hojicha] for 391 yen. Next to the matcha flavor, there was a limited edition sweet potato matcha flavor, and the staff mentioned, "The regular matcha has red beans in it, but the limited edition has sweet potatoes." Ah, that sounds interesting too. However, since it was my first time, I chose the regular one deliberately. I was given a free ice pack that lasts for an hour. The detailed explanation and customer service were excellent, as expected from a long-established store in a department store. When I tried it, it was much less sweet than I had expected, with the true flavor of tea coming through. Wow, it's delicious with an adult taste. The texture of the jelly was also good, and I feel like I could get addicted to it. It's quite a substantial dessert, so too much sweetness can be overwhelming, but I could easily finish this one. The basic two flavors were so tasty that now I'm curious about the limited sweet potato one. If I come across it again, I'll definitely stop by. Thank you for the meal.
