千本桜はんひち
I went on a solo outing to Kameoka to buy a cake and ended up going to a nearby market, which is not a Michi-no-Eki but a direct sales store for agricultural and livestock products by JA Kyoto. I had passed by it many times before without paying much attention, but I was surprised when I finally went in! The store was huge, with vegetable stands stretching endlessly. They had flowers, meat, fish, rice, bento boxes, and sweets all over the place. I was wandering around, looking at everything, but I already had plenty of vegetables at home. I ended up buying cabbage, garlic chives, oyster mushrooms, trefoil, papaya, and cut flowers. Everything was very cheap and fresh. The flowers were 400 yen, oyster mushrooms were 100 yen, papaya was 210 yen, and the honey, which was pure and bottled directly from the hive, was 2700 yen. It's made from the nectar of flowers blooming in the Satoyama area like soyogo, mochinoki, renge, and cherry blossoms, as well as the nectar from the autumn equinox mountain. It's a great deal. I cooked the oyster mushrooms with ham from Kawakita-ya, had it as a whiskey snack, and finished with maki sushi from Soba Fuji-san and oyster mushroom and egg soup. I also added the trefoil that I bought here. The papaya is still in the fridge, waiting to be eaten. This place seems like it will become a regular stop for my solo outings in Kameoka.
