I visited a shop that sells lovely Japanese sweets. I purchased some sweets for gifts as well as some monaka for myself. They all have a long shelf life, making them suitable as souvenirs. The monaka has a shelf life of over six months. Upon trying it, I found the concept of the monaka to be quite unique. It consists of a thin outer shell and a filling that you assemble yourself. However, the shell is quite thin and gives off a somewhat cheap impression. Additionally, the filling is in a paste-like form and lacks strong flavor, also contributing to a somewhat cheap overall impression. It would be better if they focused more on either the shell or the filling. Overall, it was difficult to evaluate the concept of the monaka as both the shell and filling lacked a sense of craftsmanship.

This cute and adorable snack can be bought in Kyoto. I tried the "Chinmari" which comes in a pink box and includes three varieties: rabbit, chick, and bear. It is very sweet because it has a lot of sugar in it.

In a hurry to buy the last souvenir in Kyoto, I came across the cute-looking Takashimaya Sadahiro's "Chimari" that I had been curious about for a while. I bought it as a gift for a girl. It is a cute animal character called "Zuihō," a Japanese-style marshmallow made from egg whites, agar, and water candy. For me, it was very sweet, making me want a drink at the same time. It seems very useful as a souvenir for small children or as a conversation starter. 9 pieces for ¥756.

I bought some sweets for an offering. There were cute animal-shaped sweets, but since it was for a formal offering, I bought normal ones. They were waffle cookies with a wavy pattern from a certain confectionery shop, and they were delicious. I thought I should have bought some animal-shaped sweets for home use.

On the second day of my trip to Kobe and Kyoto in May 2019, I found some cute Japanese sweets at the Kyoto Station underground port. They were bite-sized sweets in the shape of animals like rabbits and tigers, as well as a fruit series with flavors like apple and cherry. They were all so cute that it was hard to choose. I ended up picking 12 pieces for 972 yen, which makes a perfect souvenir. However, they were quite sweet in taste.

Kyoto souvenirs include good sweets that you can choose and pack yourself. When you tell the staff you want to purchase, they will give you a box so you can choose your favorite sweets from the ones displayed in the store. I purchased 15 pieces for 1080 yen without hesitation. It's nice to be able to enjoy the process of choosing based on colors and such.

I had plenty of time to explore the station, so I was looking around at various traditional Japanese sweets in Kyoto. I came across this shop and was captivated by the beautiful colors. There were boxes with a lot of sweets inside, but I ended up buying a small selection of different sweets. Even though they were so beautiful, a box with 8 pieces was around 700 yen. It was fun to choose which one to eat. The taste was also very delicious. I found out that there are shops in Tokyo as well, so I would like to buy these sweets occasionally as souvenirs for my family and friends. I gave half of the box to my daughter when I saw her, and she seemed to enjoy choosing her favorites.

I had a bite-sized jelly that resembled elegant Kyoto-style autumn leaves. The size, just like a single leaf, was incredibly cute and charming. When I cut into it, the beautiful orange gradient was revealed. Although it was a regular jelly coated with granulated sugar, the fact that it was a Kyoto sweet made it a deeply nostalgic experience. It seems like there are many different varieties available throughout the seasons, and I would love to try others as well. ^o^

This is a shop located on the basement floor of the Kyoto Station building "The Cube". They sell incredibly cute animal sweets. I was drawn to their cuteness and decided to buy my Kyoto souvenir here at "Takano-ya Sadahiro". They offer a set where you can choose 15 of your favorite items, but I opted for a box of 3 each of "chinmari". They come in the shapes of rabbits, pigs, and chicks. Among the 15 choices, there are various animals and plants to choose from, aside from the "chinmari" set. When making the purchase, I was told to store them at room temperature as they are marshmallows. When I got home, I enjoyed the cuteness of the "chinmari" before tasting them. They are slightly firmer than marshmallows, with a texture and taste similar to hardened sugar jelly. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the texture and taste, but they were still undeniably cute. It was a soothing Kyoto souvenir!

This is a souvenir from my friend in Kyoto. The container was cute, but when I opened the box, I found even more adorable small sweets lined up inside. They were all different types, with autumn-like colors, and sweets featuring autumn leaves and persimmons. Just looking at them was enjoyable. The mini size is also nice. I think any woman would be happy to receive these. According to my friend, the shop has even more varieties of sweets lined up! It would be fun not only to receive them but also to choose them. Thank you for the treat!

I bought souvenirs at Kyoto Station Building Cube. I plan to give them as a gift to someone coming from Tokyo for a gathering in Ikeda, Osaka this coming Sunday. There are many small sweets lined up at the store and they are so cute! You can choose your own sweets to put in a box, or there are pre-packaged sets with dividers that make the sweets look very neat. When you choose your own sweets to box up, there are no dividers, but you can fit three more sweets for the same price of 1050 yen. The sweets are colorful bite-sized treats made of agar, dried fruits, and bean paste. I actually received these sweets as a gift a while back and thought they were so cute while eating them. This is a great gift for women and I'm sure they will love it.
