I went to have lunch in the early afternoon. There were few customers and the side dishes were a bit lacking. This time, I had rice, miso soup, grated daikon with dried baby sardines, potato salad, and simmered mackerel in miso. The rice goes well with the flavorful dishes. My partner had rice, a bite-sized somen noodle, chicken and potato stew, teriyaki chicken, and simmered mackerel in miso. The mackerel in miso has a delicious glaze that makes the rice taste even better. The grated daikon and potato salad are nutritious. The furikake rice topping is also delicious. The teriyaki chicken and potato stew my partner had were well-seasoned, making the rice very enjoyable. It's great to be able to choose as many side dishes as you like.

This is a restaurant that I often use on my way back from qualification training. Today, I ordered the mixed rice which I had been curious about for a while. The deep-fried eggplant in broth is a must-order menu item haha. Although I didn't have it today, the udon noodles at this restaurant are also cheap and delicious.

The rice is not tasty.

Today's lunch was at Maido Ookini Shokudo along Fukuchiyama Route 9. I visited last weekend and today. I ordered the same dish at the same restaurant, but the portion size of the rice was different. I wonder why. Today, I forgot my wallet and only had a coin purse in my pocket with about 2000 yen in it, so I decided to save money. I had kake udon and a large portion of rice for 380 yen. The rice had a lot of furikake on top. The udon was frozen but surprisingly delicious. The tamagoyaki, which costs only 150 yen, was freshly made after ordering, so it was hot and tasty. Next time, I'll try ordering the tamagoyaki as well.

It had been about 5 years since I last visited, but I suddenly felt like going back. I went around 6 pm in the evening and there weren't many customers. I was surprised to see that the shelves with side dishes were gone, making it difficult to find what I liked. The prices had also gone up, which was disappointing because I thought the low prices were a selling point. I chose salt-marinated pork and bean sprouts, deep-fried eggplant, vinegar-marinated whitebait and seaweed, miso soup, and a medium-sized bowl of rice, totaling 766 yen. The taste was quite good. I regretted forgetting to order the rolled omelette, but it was too late to do so. It's a good place to have casual Japanese food, but I hope they reconsider their display setup. I left the restaurant with mixed feelings.

I often use this place during the day. I go with my colleagues from work or by myself. I always order the "kake udon" (I think it was 140 yen or 160 yen?). With kake udon as a soup substitute, one side dish, and rice, I can get quite full for around 500 yen. I have also tried the gyudon, but the taste is not as good as Yoshinoya (although the price is cheaper). The menu is quite extensive, with options like fried chicken, tonkatsu, fried fish, salad, and more. They also have curry, but it's a bit pricey for this place (I think it was around 450 yen). It's a great option for getting full on a budget, and I recommend it to salarymen.
