I received a mango jelly. The wrapping paper looked like a mango, so I was excited to open it. When I opened it, familiar-looking jelly appeared. It had a strong mango flavor, and I wanted to eat all three at once. I heard that in a cafe restaurant in Ginza, fruits are used in all the menu items, so I want to go there! Thank you for the meal!

On a certain holiday, I stopped by a Japanese confectionery shop at Sapporo Mitsukoshi on my way home. The shop was located in a good spot in the Japanese confectionery section, and I was surprised by how long the sales floor was when I paid attention to it. Although there were some overlapping products, the shop consisted of showcases and display shelves. That day, I found a single item corner from the Motoi display shelf, which was a convenient service for someone like me who is alone. I chose a few items that caught my eye in terms of price. The "Orimono Kin" (195 yen) was a perfect-looking manju that exuded a sense of history. When I took a bite, I found that the skin was thin, and the sweet bean paste inside, with chestnuts, was well-balanced. The "Kuri Fukusa" (238 yen) was a half-moon dorayaki-like confection with a white, moon-like crater-like appearance. It had a sweet bean paste with a good balance of sweetness, and the presence of diced chestnuts added an elegant touch. The "Ma no Hana" (249 yen) was a moist and sweet three-layered confection that resembled a Japanese-style pound cake. The green color indicated matcha, the light yellow was a moist castella-like cake, and the brown was black sugar. Inside, you could see beans and chestnuts, making it a suitable match for a bitter green tea. The "Dacquoise Kinsha" (195 yen) had a light and soft texture similar to a macaron, with an almond flavor. The milky cream inside, with raisins, was surprisingly delicious, and I would like to purchase it again considering the price. The "Fukuwatarisenbei Kuri" (184 yen) was a round, wavy, hard cookie-like senbei with a cream filling containing chestnuts, which was delightful. I didn't plan to buy chestnut-themed items, but I ended up trying various things, which was great. Thank you for the meal.

There is a restaurant called "Genkichoan," but which one is it? However, I am convinced that "Genkichoan" is correct because there are no registered users who enter spaces without meaning. The problem is that I have an acquaintance named "Genji" but not "Genkichi," and even more so, there is no one named "Genkichi." So, I was not at home during the distribution this time, but I think I might have received a set of mizu-yokan, which I dislike. Mizu-yokan was included in the assortment, I believe. In the past, I couldn't eat yokan, but since I started using a food log, I can put it in my mouth, so I will try the taste. I cooled it down because I thought it would be better than heating it up. That's my experience talking, right? I took it out and ate it without making a weird face. The weird face was just a normal expression. While eating something different, it became lukewarm, so I put it back in the refrigerator. I took it out, put it back, and then took it out again. Eat it quickly! It's jiggly. It has a red bean paste filling, which is obvious. It has a strong bean flavor, smooth but with a slightly gritty texture, which is the origin of the bean flavor. This is delicious. I thought it would be similar to yokan, but no, it's a delicious item close to beans.

Well, I came to Sapporo and headed to Daimaru Sapporo Mitsukoshi for the first time. I went to Genkichi Chouan and tried their Fukuwataru Senbei, which has a nice name. It costs 140 yen including tax. The senbei has a firm texture, and the cream mixes well with it. It uses margarine, but it is moist and delicious. Thank you for the meal! Release November 2015. Mitsukoshi Sapporo Store is in a prime location at the intersection of Nishi 3-chome in Chuo-ku, Sapporo. Please check the exact location of the store on Tabelog. Genkikyochoan opened a directly operated store in Maruyama, Sapporo in 1998. It is a stylish and elegant store. In Sapporo, it's hard to say which came first, this store or the other one. Genkikyochoan has its main store with an art museum in Okayama City. It was founded in 1947, starting as a privately owned confectionery store, and has a 64-year history. In 1969, the predecessor of Genkikyochoan, Momono-ya Honpo, was established. In 1977, Genkikyochoan was founded. Since then, it has grown into a large chain with 135 stores in Japan and 16 stores overseas in 34 years. It is a store that I like for its stylish and sophisticated atmosphere. Its main stores are directly operated stores and stores in famous department stores. One of those stores is Mitsukoshi Sapporo Store. On that day, the "Limited Time Offer: Chestnut Kintsuba" was the highlight of the store. Compared to other stores, Genkikyochoan seems to have many seasonal limited edition products. It's a store that limited edition enthusiasts can't resist.■ Limited Time Offer: Chestnut KintsubaUnlike the chestnut kintsuba often found in osechi, this is something different. It's chestnut itself. The store's description says, "Each chestnut kintsuba is carefully handcrafted, with each chestnut having a different expression. The moment you put it in your mouth, the sweetness of the chestnut itself spreads deliciously." The chestnuts are boiled and squeezed with a tea towel, so they melt in your mouth immediately. The sweet chestnut aroma and umami spread in your mouth. Truly a traditional Japanese sweet typical of Genkikyochoan. Since only chestnuts are used, it is free from 25 allergens. A body-friendly Japanese sweet. It is available for sale from early September to early November. It may not be cheap, but it is a satisfying masterpiece. A traditional Japanese sweet that is the essence of autumn. In early October, snow bugs are already flying in Sapporo. Snow shoveling will start soon. Thank you for the feast as we feel the passing autumn.

I got an unexpected seasonal sweet in Sapporo. It's called Rikuno Hoju from Genkikochian. This sweet is only available at limited stores and in limited quantities, and it seems they only sell it until September. It's a whole piece of the finest Okayama-grown Muscat of Alexandria wrapped in sweet bean paste. The surface is coated with granulated sugar, giving it a light green color just like the Muscat itself. The taste of Rikuno Hoju is mostly Muscat with the sweet bean paste not overpowering. However, there are grape seeds inside. It's a bit of a hassle to remove the seeds, but if you do, the shape of the sweet might get ruined. It's a refreshing summer sweet and would make a great gift.

When you think of "Genkizouan," the first thing that comes to mind is the shop in Okayama known for its wagashi sweets with muscat grapes and peaches. Personally, I find their other sweets to be quite ordinary, so I don't visit very often. However, the yokan I tried this time was quite delicious. The name "Tsuki" (moon) with plenty of chestnuts, resembling the moon in the night sky or on the water's surface, is elegant and charming. Compared to the chestnut yokan from "Toyokuniya," the texture and quality of the chestnuts may be slightly inferior, but the sweetness is more subdued and to my liking.

It is a traditional Kyoto confectionery shop located near the entrance of Mitsukoshi B2, filled with a luxurious atmosphere and beautiful Japanese sweets. I went there to buy some sweets for Respect for the Aged Day, and I bought a seasonal grape-themed confectionery. It was so popular that it was even sold in boxes for a limited time. The confectionery called "Rikuno Houseki" was a whole grape wrapped in a thin layer of mochi and coated with sugar. The mochi was quite thin and didn't fully cover the grape, but it had a nice chewy texture. The grape was sweet, and I thought it would taste even better if chilled. Although each item is quite expensive, I think it's because it's a famous shop.

While shopping, I found a very summery snack at the Gekkadoan in Mitsukoshi underground. My companion wanted to eat it right away, but I had planned to save it for a café later. However, I ended up giving in and we ate it while walking through the underground passage. It felt like being at a festival stall. The snack was a whole Muscat Alexandria grape wrapped in mochi and coated with sugar, priced at a whopping 252 yen per piece. Unfortunately, it's meant to be eaten chilled, so it didn't taste as good at room temperature. Plus, it has seeds in it, making it quite challenging to eat while walking! The shop's website describes it as having a soft mochi texture, a sugar-coated finish, a bursting fruit peel, and a refreshing taste. It warns about the seeds and advises caution when eating. I wonder how one is supposed to remove the seeds elegantly without ruining the experience. Perhaps cutting it and using a toothpick? But that might cause the juice to spill out and ruin the texture. It's probably best to enjoy it at home and discreetly spit out the seeds. The shop was bustling with people buying snacks for summer gifts and the selection of cool summer treats was impressive. Perfect for gift-giving. (…As it's a seasonal item, it may be ending soon)

My mother loves chestnut sweets, and my cousin sent some to her knowing that. I am the youngest cousin among my mother's siblings.
