Located a 5-minute walk from Kujo Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway, "HOTEL ANTEROOM KYOTO" opened in 2011 and is operated by UDS Corporation (established in 2009, with Tetsuji Kuroda as the representative director and Kokuyo as the parent company). The hotel and apartment were renovated from a student dormitory. The concept rooms are around 22,000 yen, while regular rooms range from around 10,000 yen for a twin to 6,000-7,000 yen for a single, making it quite affordable. The concept of "HOTEL ANTEROOM KYOTO" is "Art & Culture & Japanese", aiming to showcase "Kyoto now" from a contemporary perspective. On the day of the visit, the hotel was exhibiting the work of game character designers and illustrators as part of the current subculture. While not as grand as Benesse House in Naoshima, it is an exciting art hotel. Since it was originally a student dormitory, it's best not to have too high expectations for room facilities, but to focus on enjoying a comfortable stay that matches the price. The breakfast restaurant "ANTEROOM MEALS" is popular for its special terrine, daily sandwiches, pastries, and fresh Kyoto vegetable salad, but I had to skip it as I had lunch reservations. Instead, I enjoyed some drinks at the adjoining "ANTEROOM BAR" while admiring the art pieces. I opted for a whiskey soda, starting with the Alan Sauternes Cask (whiskey from Scotland) which is aged in traditional oak barrels and finished in casks used for sweet French Sauternes wine. The aroma was pleasant, but with an alcohol content of 50%, it was a bit too strong for me. I look forward to trying the breakfast next time. Thank you for the meal.

Hotel Anteroom Kyoto @ Kyoto City ~ A cozy hotel with delicious breakfast in the deep spot of Kujo. I stayed at Hotel Anteroom Kyoto for the first time in a while. This hotel is managed by a company where "Hacchan," whom I met at a "takoyaki party" organized by Kubo-chan, works. The company where "Hacchan" works mainly operates hostels and acquired a building that used to be a Kawai Juku (cram school), renovated it with designers, and turned it into a hotel. The hotel has all the necessary functions, is very user-friendly, and cozy. The bath is also spacious, and the Pelican soap is nice. As for breakfast, the venue is "Anteroom Meals" located at the entrance. First, head to the counter. Previously, you could choose up to 3 main dishes from 4 options in the showcase at the entrance, but due to the pandemic, only two are fixed. Today's options are "Winter melon terrine with fish ceviche and tapenade sauce" and "Keema curry and pickled bitter gourd sandwich with sake lees yogurt." The smoothies include tomato and watermelon. There are three types of dressings and jams for the salad, including traditional sesame-based ones from Kyoto. The "Winter melon terrine with fish ceviche and tapenade sauce" is quite delicious. The "Keema curry and pickled bitter gourd sandwich with sake lees yogurt" is a well-thought-out sandwich. The smoothies include tomato and watermelon. The cost performance was great due to the pandemic. It is a tough time transitioning to a new social system, but hang in there. This is my second time here. I had breakfast here last time and couldn't forget it, so this time I came alone. The check-in process was a bit disappointing, but everything else was just as wonderful as last time. There was a couple playing chess in the lounge in the morning, and a lovey-dovey foreign couple in the lobby, creating a strong sense of being in an extraordinary place! The breakfast was amazing in this atmosphere. I want to stay here every week.

We visited this place as a couple using the GoTo campaign. We were a bit intimidated by how stylish it was, but the staff were kind and attentive, making our stay enjoyable. The art pieces scattered around, the cozy lobby sofas, and the open bar created a unique and relaxed atmosphere. Each room has its own concept, with art pieces and artist introductions available. You can even purchase the art if you like it. The wooden bath and the view from the window were lovely, creating a comfortable environment. It was our anniversary, and we received a welcome drink at the bar, a commemorative postcard with a photo taken for us, making our time special. The breakfast was amazing, with generous portions and delicious food. The atmosphere was so nice that we wanted to stay longer. The fact that the smoothies and granola were homemade was a pleasant surprise. We felt lucky to stay at such a wonderful hotel at such a reasonable price, despite the slightly inconvenient location. Thank you to my wife for finding this place, and thank you to the staff for the thoughtful gestures, especially the message on the postcard.

Visited and stayed at Anteroom Kyoto in Kyoto, Kujo. The facility is a renovated dormitory, stylish, functional, comfortable, with playful touches throughout. Breakfast was the main sandwich of choice, with additional salad options available at the buffet. The sandwich menu for the day included A: Chicken and mushroom sauté with sunny-side-up croissant sandwich B: Chickpea hummus and cheddar cheese with carrot and shiso sandwich. I ordered A, but later discovered there was a toaster next to the sandwich counter. Definitely recommend toasting the sandwich for added flavor. Despite being labeled as a croissant sandwich, it was actually a sesame baguette sandwich, which was delicious. The dressings, sauces, and accompaniments on the buffet board were very Kyoto-inspired. As a light eater, I only tried the rice soup and avocado and watercress smoothie, both of which were delicious. The interior of the restaurant was stylish, and I would definitely consider revisiting. I will provide a separate review for the bar, but it was also stylish, with great value for money and excellent service from the front desk. Overall, a satisfying hotel experience. Thank you for the meal!

During my trip, I used this hotel. It is located about a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station. I had stayed here before during a business trip and decided to visit again because I had a good impression of the breakfast. The breakfast is a buffet style, and everything from the salad to the dressings is homemade. The staff's service was also good, and their warmth was felt. This hotel may not be suitable for those looking for a luxurious hotel stay or buffet, but it is definitely recommended for those looking for a reasonable buffet with a warm homemade feel.

On May 22, 2018 (Tuesday), I stayed at a hotel in Kyoto for a business trip. The hotel seemed interesting, as it was originally a dormitory building converted into a hotel, as mentioned in the brochure. The interior was very stylish, with the lobby resembling an art cafe. Since the rooms did not have keycard locks, it is important to be cautious when going out. The breakfast had a high-quality feel to it, with just the right amount for me personally. However, those looking for a hearty meal might find it lacking. Overall, it was a stylish hotel experience.

During my visit to Kyoto, I stayed at Hotel Anteroom Kyoto. The hotel is located a 7-minute walk from the first station south of Kyoto Station on the Karasuma subway line. It would take nearly 15 minutes to walk directly from Kyoto Station. The hotel is a renovated former student dormitory with an art gallery inside the building. The lobby and other areas are decorated with interesting art pieces like sculptures. The breakfast provided is elaborate and shows attention to detail, making it enjoyable for those who may find typical hotel breakfasts lacking. There were also many foreign guests staying at the hotel. Thank you for your hospitality.

The lobby and bar were stylish and cozy, but the room was average. The famous breakfast was delicious, but it felt more like a nice cafe in the city. The quality of the cafe latte was high, I wonder what kind of machine they used!

I stayed here after a long time. My name was enough to stay as my old records were still there. It's really a hassle to write the address every time (lol). The place has a calm atmosphere as usual, but also has a touch of avant-garde, giving the feeling of staying at a wealthy friend's house. For breakfast, you can choose from pita sandwiches, croissant sandwiches, and more, and you can add more if needed. The salad comes with a variety of dressings, and smoothies are included. All this for only 1000 yen, which is cheap. I'll refresh myself with detox water and head out!

When you walk south on Karasuma Street from Kyoto Station, you will reach the Karasuma-Sujonishi intersection where you will suddenly come across a woman sitting on the roof of the hotel you are looking for (laughs). Feeling a bit surprised, you head towards the front desk, where various art pieces and objects are displayed. It truly feels like an art hotel. The hallways leading to the rooms and the rooms themselves are adorned with stylish art pieces. Not eccentric, but exuding a calm atmosphere, you can't help but be enveloped in its world. The area leading to the front desk includes a retail corner with art items, and the lounge area allows guests to enjoy drinks late into the night. The hotel's concept of providing spaces where guests can spend their time as they please, whether on sofas or at tables, is something I can relate to. It's an artful hotel that further enhances the brand of Kyoto.

It's morning in April 2018. I stayed at a hotel for the first time. The sky in Kyoto is clear (*^▽^*). I'm feeling hungry... Let's go to the breakfast venue!! This hotel has a different atmosphere from typical business hotels or city hotels. The lobby and overall vibe don't feel like a traditional hotel, but the staff is very polite. There are many foreign guests... on this day, I noticed that there were a lot of European and American guests. The breakfast venue at this hotel also has a European and American feel. You choose your main dish and the rest is buffet style. I made a mistake by choosing the white fish fry... it was a bit too oily for my elderly stomach to handle early in the morning. So, I decided to load up on salad instead! I ended up getting a second helping of salad. I don't usually eat salad for breakfast, but maybe it was the choice of dressing that made it taste so good. I didn't go for a third helping, but I feel like the salad helped balance out the oiliness of the fry. Thank you for the meal.

It was a morning with vegetables and high carbohydrate content. There was a review on a certain travel website saying "the breakfast portion is large and really good! A must-eat", so I had high expectations. However, it was not particularly impressive. The hotel has a designer, artsy atmosphere throughout, so the food is also very stylish. The staff are stylish and wonderful. It feels like coming to a cafe in Omotesando. For the main dish, you can choose up to three out of four options. On this day, there were pita sandwiches, wiener sandwiches, granola, and sweet-looking Danish bread. It came with a smoothie made of cabbage and lettuce. There was also a salad and yogurt buffet. So, I thought it would be good for beauty with all the vegetables. But if you get greedy and order three main dishes, it can be a lot of carbohydrates! So, I only had the pita sandwich. The review mentioning "full of volume" probably had all three. I was hoping to eat a lot of protein like eggs and sausages since it was mentioned as a buffet. Please think of the menu as a stylish, healthy lunch for trendy girls. There's no grilled fish or rice here.

I stayed at the cozy Hotel Anteroom Kyoto, a deep spot in Kyoto, on my way from Yamato Road to Hokuriku. The hotel is owned by a company where my friend Hacchan works. The company mainly operates hostels and renovated a building that used to be a cram school into a designer hotel. The hotel has all the necessary functions, is very convenient to use, and has a cozy atmosphere. The bath is spacious and the Pelican soap provided is nice. For breakfast, I went to Anteroom Meals located at the entrance. You can also use the bar space in the morning. You can choose up to three main dishes from the four options displayed in the showcase at the entrance. I chose dried radish and tuna dill baguette sandwich, fried egg and chili con carne and lettuce pita sandwich today. The salad dressings and jams are elaborate, with three traditional Kyoto sesame options. I chose the onion dressing today. It was a very cost-effective hotel. I would like to stay here again for further research. Hotel Anteroom Kyoto, Kyoto, Kyoto City, Minami-ku, Higashi-Kujo Myoden-cho 7, Phone 075-681-5656

Introducing the cozy hotel located in a deep spot in Kyoto, where today, the "food and beverage study proxy" Daikubo Kazuhiko, who recently studied grass cuisine, was taken care of at the hotel "Hotel Anteroom Kyoto". This hotel is owned by a company where 'Hacchan', whom Kazu-chan met at the "takoyaki party" he planned, is employed. The company where 'Hacchan' works mainly operates hostels (guest houses), and recently acquired a property, renovated it with a designer, and turned it into a hotel. First, from the entrance... Near the entrance of the hotel, it looks like a construction site at first glance, but it seems to be art. There is a gallery space at the entrance. The rooms are simple yet spacious for a single room in Kyoto, at 17 square meters. They have all the necessary functions, are very user-friendly, and cozy. The bath is also spacious, and the Pelican soap provided is nice. As for breakfast, the venue is "Anteroom Meals" located at the entrance. The bar space in front can also be used in the morning. The first floor is very luxurious and stylishly designed. For meals, you can choose up to three mains from four options displayed in the showcase at the entrance. This time, there were filling sandwiches, pita sandwiches, granola, etc. I ate too much during yesterday's study, so I focused only on the fish and chips. There is a buffet with salads, soups, etc., on the central island. The dressings for the salads were elaborate, including traditional sesame dressings from Kyoto. It was a very cost-effective hotel. I would like to stay here again for further research. Hotel Anteroom Kyoto Kyoto, Kyoto City, Minami-ku, Higashi-Kujo Aketa-cho 7 Tel: 075-681-5656

I stayed at the Anteroom, a designer hotel, on a weekday in July 2016. The location is about a 5-minute walk from Kujo Subway Station and within walking distance from Kyoto Station. This hotel was converted from a university dormitory into a hotel. The lobby is used for exhibitions, with art pieces displayed throughout. The breakfast is stylish and healthy, popular among women. You can choose 3 out of 4 main dishes, while salad and drinks are buffet style. On this day, the options were 1) Potato Gratin Pita Sandwich, 2) Tomato and Cucumber Open Sandwich, 3) Lemon Yogurt Cake, and 4) Granola. I chose the Pita Sandwich, Open Sandwich, and Granola, all of which were delicious. I wanted to try the Lemon Cake too. It would be nice if you could choose all four. The salad and drinks were average. The Pita and Open Sandwiches were indeed healthy and tasty. Even if you don't stay overnight, you can enjoy breakfast for 1000 yen. It's recommended as it's close to Kyoto Station.

I made a reservation in advance and went to have breakfast at Anteroom. Luckily, even non-guests were allowed to enter today. It seems that sometimes they may refuse entry if there are many guests staying at the hotel. As soon as you step inside the entrance of this hotel, you are amazed by the gallery and art that make it feel like a different world. I bought a ticket at the front desk and went to the restaurant "ANTEROOM MEALS". The restaurant space here is nice, with large tables, high ceilings, and big windows. The quality and variety of the buffet have improved since my last visit, but I was surprised that the price was still the same at 1320 yen. I will definitely visit again.
