とととあん
When looking for a different restaurant with my wife, we stumbled upon this place and were drawn in by the menu displayed outside. Despite the old and cramped appearance from the outside, with an elderly man in the kitchen, we hesitated to enter at first. However, once we stepped inside, we were warmly greeted by everyone, making us feel at ease. The cozy atmosphere, with regular customers chatting happily with the staff, created a relaxed vibe that made us feel comfortable. We both ordered the tempura set meal that caught our eye. The set included five types of tempura (shrimp, smelt fish, shiitake mushroom, pumpkin, long green pepper, eggplant), red miso soup, steamed egg custard, sashimi, rice, and pickles, all for only 1100 yen. This price was incredibly reasonable for a restaurant in the heart of Kyoto. And everything was delicious! The tempura, sashimi, and steamed egg custard were all excellent. Plus, you could get free refills of rice, so we left feeling very satisfied. Families with young children, foreigners, locals - everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. It's a wonderful restaurant.
