On May 4th, I boarded a boat at Fushimi, Kyoto's Togetsu-kyo. Before that, I had lunch at a restaurant on the street lined with eateries near the boarding area. Most places were almost full, with a waiting time of about 1 hour. I found a lunch menu outside the restaurant, which was priced at 1000 yen per person, totaling 3000 yen for three people. We decided on the lunch menu and waited for about 30 minutes before finally being seated. We had ordered tempura, Japanese-style pizza, and sashimi set. When the food arrived after a 5-minute wait, I was surprised to see thick slices of sashimi - buri, buri tataki, and maguro - all fresh and delicious. Additionally, we were served egg tofu, side dishes, salad, miso soup, and rice with unlimited refills. The tempura set included two shrimp, sweet potato, bamboo shoots, eggplant, shishito pepper, egg tofu, side dishes, salad, miso soup, and rice with unlimited refills. Lastly, we enjoyed a Japanese-style pizza with generous portions of fried chicken, egg tofu, side dishes, salad, miso soup. Every dish was delicious, and the value for the 1000 yen set meal was exceptional. My family of three left the restaurant with full and satisfied stomachs. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Sake from Kyoto is always available with over 60 different brands. They mainly offer local sake from Fushimi and Tango, allowing you to fully enjoy the local flavors. In addition to sake, they also have shochu, fruit wine, and more. Their wine selection includes over 15 types of Japanese wine carefully selected from all over the country. I felt that they have a good selection of wines that pair well with food. I was surprised to see that they have Tono wine, which I personally recommend as it goes well with charcoal-grilled dishes. Their dishes mainly focus on charcoal-grilled using domestic Bincho charcoal. From seafood to meat and vegetables, you grill them yourself on a shichirin (charcoal grill). The crispy outer layer and juicy inside are amazing! The charcoal-grilled dishes not only look delicious but also create various sensations like smell and sizzling sound while they cook, enhancing the overall dining experience. It was really fun to grill our own food. We started with oden, which was perfect for this season! Enjoying it with hot sake was a blissful moment. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, and it was fully packed. We sat at the counter today, and it was a wonderful experience.

The food and drinks were delicious. The sashimi platter was great! We ordered a la carte, so it overlapped with a banquet, and the restaurant seemed busy. There is a wide variety of dishes to enjoy! The large plate of fried oysters at the neighboring table looked tempting! I will definitely come back!!

In Fushimi, it's surprisingly rare to find a shop that offers local sake. This place, however, has a variety of sake from Fushimi and other areas in Kyoto. This time, I decided not to try their charcoal-grilled dishes (I'm a bit of a contrarian customer), and instead opted for sashimi, small dishes, and fried foods. Everything was well-prepared and paired nicely with the sake. Surprisingly, they also serve pizza, which I highly recommend. The atmosphere of the restaurant is calm and sophisticated, catering to an "adult" crowd. It's a convenient spot for those looking to enjoy a variety of sake. After visiting a few times, I'm eager to try more of their menu offerings.

I used it for a retirement celebration for an older gentleman! The main focus was Japanese food and there were many types of sake to go with it, which made the older gentleman very happy. I will definitely come back with the next generation of members!

The gathering was calm and we were able to have a friendly party. We were not rushed even when the time went over, and we are grateful.

Fujimaru in Fushimi: Kyoto's famous sake and charcoal-grilled dishes. Strolling through Fushimi, like a grown-up field trip. The perfect way to end the day is with some local sake. However, it seems everyone had the same idea as Torisei was packed. Without any prior research, we decided to try Fujimaru nearby. The modern Japanese-style restaurant was quite stylish. The appetizer was squid marinated in vinegar miso. It was tender and delicious, getting us excited right from the start. The charcoal-grilled dishes were recommended, so we ordered thick tofu and dried horse mackerel. It was fun grilling them ourselves. The simple flavors paired well with the sake. We also added some fried oysters. Since we were sitting at the counter, we could see the kitchen well. We watched as our oysters were being fried, sending good vibes for them to turn out delicious. And they did, crispy and tasty! There were many varieties of Kyoto's local sake available, although I forgot their names... I should have recorded them. We had to leave for Osaka, so we left after a moderate amount of food and drink. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant. If I ever find myself in Fushimi again, I will definitely visit Fujimaru.

It had been quite a while since I visited the restaurant since its opening, and it felt like a different place. The scallop soy butter grill (¥800) consisted of small scallops sliced in half... Wait, only half? (~_~;) I wish they had specified it as "half scallops" on the menu. The diced steak was too tough for me to chew, possibly due to the excessive amount of sinew. (~_~;)

During a visit to Fushimi sake breweries for sightseeing, my friend and I were there for the sake. The highlight here is definitely the variety of sake available. Just from a quick look at the menu, I felt like there were about 40 different kinds. Not only are there the local sakes of Fushimi in Kyoto, but also various sakes from different regions. For premium brands like daiginjo, they even offer small tasting glasses for comparison, making it perfect for trying out different sakes. The atmosphere of the izakaya is quite stylish, with mainly creative dishes, but they also offer dishes that are designed to be enjoyed with sake. You can also enjoy specialty dishes like grilled vegetables on a charcoal grill. It seems like a place where you could casually drop by just for a meal at the counter. This is a highly recommended place for sake lovers. For those who are unfamiliar with Fushimi, there seems to be a tendency to flock to the super famous shops nearby, but for those who want to enjoy sake in a mature and quiet atmosphere in Fushimi, I definitely recommend this place.

Although they do not usually open for lunch, you can enjoy Fushimi Bar on certain days during the day. The sashimi and sake were delicious. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to enjoy autumn pike conger as well! The interior of the restaurant is stylish and cozy, making it a comfortable space to relax for a while. I would like to make an opportunity to visit during their regular evening hours as well.
