On a regular evening, we met up with our company members at Kyoto Station and headed to our accommodation for the night in a rental car. We checked into a hotel in Kyoto city, dropped off our luggage in the room, and went out for dinner. We decided to visit "Masumi," a okonomiyaki and teppanyaki restaurant located near the Jujo-Karasuma intersection that caught our attention. When we arrived at 6:00, we were the first customers. The interior matched the charming exterior, creating a cozy atmosphere. Initially, the owner, an older gentleman, served us, but later a young lady, presumably his daughter, joined to assist with service. We ordered: - Draft beer x3 (550 yen each) - Dashimaki (450 yen), a recommended dish from the owner, which paired well with the beer - Yakisoba Mix (900 yen), cooked on the teppan and served to us hot and delicious - Okonomiyaki with beef tendon (700 yen), with options to add egg, oil scraps, or udon noodles - Nasu-zuke (350 yen), a refreshing side dish - Seseri (650 yen), chicken neck meat cooked with shimeji mushrooms and onions - Urute (650 yen), soft cartilage from beef - Imo shochu (400 yen), served with hot water. It was a great experience to try delicious flour-based dishes in Kyoto. Thank you for the meal!

On Friday night around 9pm, three of us visited without a reservation. It was almost full despite heavy rain! We just managed to get seats. We ordered pork okonomiyaki, cheese-filled dashimaki, pork kimchi, stir-fried eggplant, stir-fried nagaimo, yakisoba, 3 draft beers, 4 bottled beers, and 4 non-alcoholic beers, totaling just over 10,000 yen. The okonomiyaki sauce was on the richer side, and all dishes had moderate portions. The cheese-filled dashimaki might be my favorite at Masumi. I will definitely visit again!

There are many interesting restaurants that I want to visit but haven't had the chance to. One of them is Masumi-san's place. Inside, there are tatami seating on both sides and counter seats at the back. The menu is quite extensive. I tried the tako (octopus) dish since they didn't have ika (squid). I ordered the suji betayaki (grilled with fat) with oil residue. It was delicious and the restaurant was clean and had a sense of cleanliness. Thank you for the meal.

I had pork and kimchi okonomiyaki with dashimaki. My friend had pilaf. There aren't many food places around here, so it was a lifesaver. Thank you for the meal.

Located about 10 meters north of the Karasuma intersection, this restaurant is run by the master and his wife. The master, who has become quite round now, used to easily get into arguments with customers. Despite his rough language, he always speaks the truth. The menu includes a variety of teppanyaki dishes. I often order the dashimaki, beef tendon, bean sprout stir-fry, potato cheese, and ham and egg. Depending on the group, we also enjoy the hormone and chive liver. The dashimaki is exceptionally delicious, and once you try it here, you won't want it anywhere else. The okonomiyaki is great whether you prefer it plain or mixed. If you ask for spicy sauce, they will bring you a hot one. The mix of tempura scraps and egg is amazing. The yakisoba with swallow sauce is also very tasty. The "Aveck," which is half udon and half yakisoba, is a must-try (even though it's quite filling). They offer beer, shochu, chuhai, and plum wine, but the grapefruit chuhai is especially delicious as they use a whole large grapefruit to make it. Another specialty is the "Aka" drink, which I also enjoy.

This is a shop located near the large crossroads to the north of Jujo Station on the Kyoto subway. The menu includes okonomiyaki, or rather, many teppanyaki dishes as well. There are about six tables with teppan. You have to take off your shoes and sit in a simple tatami-like style. It's relatively small, so if a group of men visit, it can get quite cramped (laughs). The owner and his wife run the place, and the beer server is next to the customer's table, giving it a homely feel. There are many dishes that go well with beer, and they are all delicious. It's a good place to have a beer after work. They are open late, so be careful not to drink too much (laughs).
