I visited 33 temples in the western region and left one in Kyoto's Nakagyo Ward. After visiting the temple, I decided to have lunch at Kagaya, a place I had wanted to try for a while. It took me about 40 minutes to walk to Kyoto Station, where Kagaya is located. Despite not being able to make a reservation, I was seated quickly due to the lower number of tourists that day. The restaurant offered a beautiful view of the bus terminal at Kyoto Station. My husband ordered the Kagayayuzen bento box, while I had the Tofu meal with tempura and sashimi. We also received a drink service with a coupon from the app. The meal included appetizers, main dishes, rice, and dessert. Everything was delicious and we left the restaurant feeling very satisfied. It was a luxurious lunch experience.

We couldn't make a reservation online or over the phone, but decided to try our luck by going to the restaurant around 11 am, just after it opened. There were about three groups ahead of us, so we wrote down our names and waited. Luckily, we were seated in about 15 minutes. We ordered the set meal for 3,300 yen. We also decided to order a small glass of beer, and when asked if we had any coupons or apps, my friend downloaded an app and registered, which resulted in each of us getting a free drink. We enjoyed dishes such as simmered vegetables, tempura, sashimi, steamed egg custard, and mini desserts. We were also offered seconds for miso soup and rice. We spent over 2 hours there, enjoying the meal at a leisurely pace. The staff were all very friendly, and we felt the quality of the food lived up to the reputation of the well-known inn's restaurant. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Kaga-ya, a long-established ryokan in Wakura Onsen, seems to have a shop where you can enjoy Ishikawa Prefecture's local cuisine. I ordered the lowest-priced kaiseki course at night (probably?), which was 7,700 yen (around 10,000 yen with about 2 glasses of alcohol). It was delicious, with a combination of basic Kyoto cuisine and Ishikawa Prefecture's local dishes. The jibu-ni dish was well-prepared with the ingredients shining through. The service was smooth, and the view from the restaurant was excellent. Thank you for the meal.

Today's lunch was at "Kaga-ya Kyoto" Japanese restaurant. Located on the 8th floor of Kyoto Isetan in Shijo-ku, Kyoto. This restaurant is run by Kaga-ya, the top hotel in Wakura Onsen. The entrance is a bit away from the department store area. There are various seats along the window with an open view. We were seated at the counter with only 5 seats facing the window. The cuisine is traditional Japanese, with a focus on Ishikawa's local dish, Jibu-ni. They also specialize in steak, sashimi, and tempura. I really wanted to try the Jibu-ni, so I ordered the "Saigawa" for 2750 yen. The panoramic view of Kyoto city unfolds in front of us. The view of ROHM's building rooftop garden and other sights not usually visible. The view is reflected on the black granite counter. The introduction speech showed their dedication to detail. After a while, a luxurious set meal appeared. The miso soup had a rich dashi flavor. The hijiki seaweed looked high-quality. The chawanmushi exuded a sense of luxury. The sashimi was also luxurious. The tuna was tender, the sea bream had a different texture, and the amberjack was fresh and crunchy. The swordfish was seared. The awaited Jibu-ni was thick and tender with the sauce coating it. The duck was thick but tender. Even the toothpicks were elegantly placed in a lacquered container. The attentive service, offering seconds, and attention to detail were impressive. Despite being in Kyoto Station, we felt enveloped in the special atmosphere of Kaga. It was a special and memorable time.

Located on the upper floor of Isetan at Kyoto Station, this Kaga cuisine restaurant boasts a view from one side. Visited on a weekday afternoon, we were able to enter without waiting. The restaurant was about 60-70% full. We ordered the sashimi set meal for just under 3,000 yen, which included sashimi, simmered duck, pickles, simmered hijiki seaweed, rice, and red miso soup. There was no dessert included. The shrimp sashimi was slightly larger than usual, adding a nice touch to the presentation. The simmered duck was tender with a good texture. The overall taste was average. The service was neither exceptional nor poor, just average. I feel like it could be a bit cheaper, maybe by 500 yen or so. Overall, it was a decent meal.

On the 8th floor of Isetan at Kyoto Station, I decided to go to a Kaga cuisine restaurant called Kagaya as I didn't know any reasonably priced Kyoto cuisine restaurants nearby. It's convenient if you're using Kyoto Station. The restaurant area at Isetan has great views on sunny days, with sights like Kyoto Tower and the Higashiyama mountains visible from the large windows. I ordered the "Tempura and Sashimi Set Meal". The specialty dish is the regional dish of Ishikawa Prefecture, Jibu-ni. The set meal includes sashimi, tempura, small side dishes, all served together on one tray, making it a slightly luxurious lunch. The duck Jibu-ni with wasabi was delicious with a nice kick. I finished with dessert. Thank you for the meal.

"Kaga-ryori and Kyoto-ryori" can be enjoyed at the delicious restaurant 'Kagaya Kyoto Store', where a collaboration of the two cuisines can be savored in a grand panoramic space. The dishes are elegant and very tasty, allowing guests to enjoy their meal in a traditional Japanese setting. I particularly enjoyed the seasonal dish of cloud ear mushrooms. The menu for January includes turnip sushi, crab soup, sashimi, grilled blackthroat seaperch with sake kasu, grilled beef fillet with herbs, tempura of cloud ear mushrooms, rice with assorted fish, and Kaga-style stick tea pudding with black beans and gold leaf. I visited for a business dinner, but I felt a bit disappointed by the service, which seemed to follow a strict manual. The location, directly connected to the station, has a calm interior and delicious food, making it perfect for business dinners. However, I wish the staff would pay more attention to the customers rather than just following a manual. While I understand the importance of following guidelines, I believe that a more personalized approach would be more suitable for a restaurant that attracts guests who value hospitality. Overall, I hope that they can improve the service to match the charm of their delicious cuisine. 'Kagaya Kyoto Store' has a Google rating of 4.1 (86 reviews), a 4.42 rating on One Michelin Star (31 reviews), and a 3.15 rating on Tabelog (76 reviews). Price range: dinner ¥8,000-¥9,999, lunch ¥3,000-¥3,999."

Recently, it has become a regular thing for me to go to this restaurant with my father after attending a funeral. However, the location is in the popular tourist destination of Kyoto, and being conveniently located above a train station, we have to be prepared to wait depending on the time. Today, it took us 20 minutes to get into the parking lot, and another 30 minutes to get into the restaurant. Finally, we were able to get in. We have been here many times, and the layout allows us to look out over the north side of Kyoto Station from the window. This makes it easier for us to spend time together without needing to talk much. We usually order the "Asanogawa" set meal, which comes with tempura. It also includes dishes like Chirinabe and Chawanmushi, making it a good deal. We rely on this restaurant for its consistently good meals.

In a relaxed atmosphere, the staff's calm demeanor creates a soothing experience. Engaging in conversation, the dishes are brought out at the perfect timing. The food is not only visually appealing and elegant, but also rich in flavor and depth. The drinks may be on the pricier side, but it is understandable. Truly a delightful dining experience.

I went to the 8th floor open view restaurant / Japanese restaurant Kaga-ya with a special New Year's lunch voucher for the third time. This time it was a 2200 yen voucher. We had the "Miyako" course. Normally, this course is 3300 yen for lunch, so it's a 1000 yen discount. The meal includes sashimi, tempura, simmered dish, and other seasonal delicacies. The view from the seat was great, with a view of Kyoto Tower and the snow-covered Higashiyama. The seats were spacious, allowing us to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace. The menu included a sashimi platter (tuna, sea bream, amberjack), tempura platter, duck simmered dish, small side dishes, steamed rice, soup, pickles, and a sweet (warabi mochi). Every dish was delicious and satisfying. We could also have seconds of rice and miso soup. It was a very reasonable deal.

I visited the famous Kaga-ya restaurant in Ishikawa Prefecture for dinner at the Granvia Kyoto, directly connected to Kyoto Station. I ordered the course meal (Yuki Kaiseki) and every dish was delicious. The service was excellent and the drinks kept coming. I would like to visit again on a special occasion.

I never expected to have Kaga cuisine at Kyoto Station ISETAN. For those who love Kaga cuisine, it is a cozy and atmospheric restaurant hidden in ISETAN with a nice view. However, as someone who is not a fan of the strong flavors of Kaga cuisine, it was a bit tough for me. This was my second experience with Kaga cuisine in a week... The nodoguro was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Asano-gawa: 2,640 yen, Miyako: 3,300 yen, Children's meal: 1,650 yen. I chose strawberry ice cream for dessert (other option was vanilla). I also ordered hot honey juice separately, which was incredibly delicious!! They have private rooms, so you can enjoy your meal without worrying even if you have small children. The children's meal is so good that adults might want to try it too. Parking: Isetan parking lot, 2 hours free with a purchase of 5,000 yen.

I visited here because I had a discount coupon! The seat was great with a view of Kyoto Tower! The most delicious dishes were the throat black salt-grilled fish and the duck and island vegetable udon! The throat black fish had a good amount of fat and was delicious, and the island vegetable udon had a smooth and refreshing taste! Thank you for the meal.

I had lunch at Kaga-ya in JR Kyoto Isetan. I had Kaga Yuzen for 3850 yen and Kaga-ya original Junmai Ginjo for 1650 yen. The dishes were all served together and they were all delicious! The Jibu-ni that arrived a little late was also delicious! I am full now. Thank you for the meal.

Visited in September 2020 for my maternal grandmother's third memorial service. This was my second visit, as I had also used this restaurant for the forty-ninth day memorial. Despite the crowded city due to Silver Week, we were running late for our 12:30 reservation. When we contacted our relatives, they assured us that our table was ready and to take our time. We arrived around 1:00, but were warmly welcomed. At the entrance, they conducted temperature checks and provided hand sanitizers for COVID-19 prevention. Instead of the traditional kaiseki course, they now served the meal in bento boxes as a safety measure. We were allowed to place small photos and a past register on the table, and the staff kindly prepared a small altar. The meal included dishes like simmered fish, tempura, sashimi, yuba, pickled radish, simmered vegetables, chawanmushi, rice, miso soup, and pickles. The food was elegant and delicious, especially the simmered fish, a local dish from Ishikawa Prefecture where Kagaya's headquarters are located. The staff, dressed in kimono, provided excellent service, allowing us to savor the meal at a leisurely pace. Despite the small gathering due to the current situation, it reminded me of the importance of coming together to share a meal.

I used it for a night dinner with friends. The location is good as it is located inside Isetan next to the station building. I was looking forward to trying Kaga-ya's cuisine in Kyoto. We ordered the Shimozuki kaiseki course, which included ingredients such as Echizen crab and sea urchin. The local Kaga dish called Jibuni was delicious, and the duck had a good flavor. For the main dish, beef was served, which had a slightly Western feel to it. Overall, it was satisfying.

Kagaya in Osaka has closed down. However, Kagaya in JR Kyoto Isetan is still open on the 8th floor, in the back of the gift section. I had the Seafood Meal Set for lunch, which included small dishes, mentaiko (spicy cod roe), seafood bowl, tempura, and miso soup. The bowl had sweet shrimp, sea bream, sea urchin, salmon roe, tuna, squid, and amberjack. It was delicious and a great deal. You can also get a refill of miso soup.

A friend who lives in Aichi, Shiga, and Hyogo prefectures gathered at Kyoto Station for the last year-end party of the year! We chose "Kagaya Kyoto Store" on the 8th floor of Isetan. We were seated with a view of Kyoto Tower in front of us and the Daimonji in the distance. The serving staff, a beautiful woman in a kimono, was perfect, and the setting couldn't be better. We chose the "Shiwasu Getsusen" course for 7000 yen. We started with a toast with beer. The dishes were all elegant and delicious. The standout was the "grilled fugu." I've had grilled fugu ovaries before, but this was my first time trying the white meat. I asked about the grilling method and the serving staff quickly checked with the chef, who said they marinate it in soy sauce before grilling. It was a delicious dish that I'd like to try making at home. We ended the meal with a small dessert in a beautiful dish. Each dish was delicious, but as someone who is 175cm tall, weighs 69kg, and has a basal metabolic rate of 1550kcal, I left feeling a bit unsatisfied. "Eat until you are 80% full to stay healthy" - Japanese cuisine is the best. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.

The restaurant had a great view of Kyoto Tower and a nice atmosphere. The dishes were lightly seasoned and the grilled nodoguro was very delicious. The specialty dish, Chibu-ni, was also excellent with the duck meat and broth blending well together.

I could only order one course for dinner, but I really wanted to eat it! The food was delicious. I hesitated to take a photo and missed the chance. It's funny that I live in Ishikawa Prefecture but ended up eating Ishikawa's local cuisine in Kyoto.
