Located a 5-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station on the Keihan Electric Railway, I finally got to try the mille-feuille that I've been curious about for a while. The Mille-Feuille Fig Orange (¥821) is a seasonal limited edition dessert with fresh figs. The mille-feuille features a crispy pastry, mascarpone cream, and a refreshing orange flavor, making it a very satisfying sweet treat. The cozy and lovely interior of the shop, with 3 tables on the first floor and 8 tables on the second floor, allows you to enjoy the wonderful sweets in a relaxed atmosphere. While Kyoto can get crowded on weekends, I was able to get a table easily around lunchtime. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Today, I visited Ramonjuan Beau in Gion Shijo. They open at 11 am on Sundays. I had trouble finding the place as I wandered around before finally locating it (laughs). I was the first customer and got to choose my favorite seat, so I sat by the window on the second floor. I ordered the fig mille-feuille cake set. Lately, I seem to have a connection with figs. Maybe they're in season now? (laughs) I pondered how to eat it and ended up just grabbing a bite. If I tried to cut it neatly, it would crumble, so I just took a bite and finished it (laughs). It was delicious! ❤️❤️

Around 3 o'clock on August 12, 2023, I visited the restaurant with another person. We went to the second floor to order a peach parfait, thinking it would be less crowded there. The peach parfait was not very sweet and not very cold. The whipped cream and apple tea were both sour, and overall, it was not worth the high price. I won't be visiting this place again.

I love Juvo-san so much. I usually go to the Kyoto Isetan store, so the Gion store is a bit new to me. I missed out on the strawberry season and the strawberry parfait, so I went early to try the peach parfait! I made a reservation for Sunday at 11:00 and visited.
- Parfait Opeshu (peach parfait) ¥2640
- Granita Peshu & Litchi (peach and lychee) +¥100
- Matcha Canele ¥378
The peach parfait came with a drink for this price, and for an extra ¥100, you could upgrade to the seasonal peach granita drink, which I found to be quite reasonable. I love Juvo's canele, and since they had matcha flavor, I couldn't resist ordering that too.
Now, onto the parfait I came for. It was fun to pour the berry sauce on top before eating. The whipped cream was fluffy, and it paired well with the caramelized sweetness. The peaches were very sweet and there were quite a lot of them! The peach sorbet added a nice refreshing touch. Most of all, I absolutely loved the streusel at the bottom! Eating it with the peaches and sorbet below was just heavenly...! This peach parfait was quite satisfying from start to finish.
The granita was like drinking pure peach, with the chunks adding a nice texture. The refreshing lychee flavor complemented the sweetness well, making it a perfect drink for summer that wasn't too heavy to enjoy alongside the parfait!
The canele was as amazing as always, with its crispy exterior and moist, chewy interior. The matcha powder on top was surprisingly bitter, so it might not be for everyone who doesn't like matcha. But as a matcha lover, I had no issues! I was surprised to find that the matcha flavor extended to the inside of the canele as well. It was a genius touch!

The building has a Kyoto-like atmosphere and is a nice place. The cakes are decently delicious but not cheap. I used it as a place to take a break during a stroll in Gion, so I have no complaints. I don't think it's worth going out of your way to visit.

I arrived 5 minutes before the opening time on Saturday and was second in line. When the store opened, we were allowed in one by one. I was able to choose my favorite seat as it was available, so this time I sat at a table. I placed my order at the table, and payment is made at the counter at the end. This time, I ordered the following:
- Millefeuille Fraises Drink Set (1,573 yen)
I requested a hot Earl Grey for the set drink. The millefeuille is filled with homemade mascarpone cream and fresh strawberries sandwiched between crispy pastry. The seasonal strawberries were delicious, and the pastry was fragrant while the mascarpone cream was rich. It's a bit tricky to eat a millefeuille neatly, but following the recommended method of tilting it sideways before cutting made it delicious and presentable. This is a limited quantity menu item, so if you can't visit early, I recommend making a reservation. The Earl Grey was served in a pot with enough for 3 cups! I'm happy to finally try the millefeuille that I've been curious about every year. It was such a delicious millefeuille that I want to come back for it next year as well!

The staff's service was excellent! They informed me about the approximate waiting time at the restaurant, reserved sweets for me, and even called me when a table was ready. I had a delightful experience at the cafe, enjoying a crispy pastry with a perfect balance of strawberry acidity and sweet cream. They had a wide variety of tea options with detailed descriptions, making my cafe time very satisfying!

Kyoto sweets shops were all crowded with long lines, so I randomly chose one to enter. It turns out this shop specializes in cakes from southern France, with only three locations in Japan - Hiroo, Nagoya, and here. The cake that caught my eye was priced at 2200 yen, so I opted for a Mont Blanc instead. It had a nice almond flavor, not too sweet, and was delicious. My friend ordered a lemon cake, which I wouldn't have chosen myself, but it was surprisingly fresh, tasty, and impressive. We enjoyed our treats on the second floor, and on the first floor, there were cakes, macarons, baked goods, bread, and more, all looking delicious for souvenirs. It was a great memory to cherish.

The sun was setting around 5pm when I arrived, and the restaurant was full with last order in 30 minutes. I was about to give up, but they said they would let me know if a seat became available before last order. So, I ordered a take-out cake first and went for a walk. Surprisingly, a seat opened up quickly and I was able to eat at the restaurant! The chestnut mousse cake had a nice tangy apricot accent. The chocolate cake was rich. They had run out of the limited edition cakes by the time I arrived, but I would like to try them if I have the chance. The cakes I took home were all delicious, especially the éclair Mont Blanc was the best! The chestnut cream inside and the crispy baked goods were also delicious.

I found this place near Gion Shijo Station when I was looking for a Mont Blanc to eat! They serve a freshly squeezed Mont Blanc made with one of Japan's three great chestnuts, the Aizumidori chestnut from Ehime Prefecture. It was so delicious with its rich and creamy chestnut cream, diced chestnuts, and meringue on top! The high ratio of chestnut cream made me incredibly happy. I usually prefer meringue that is baked into the base of the cake, but the meringue here was also tasty!

I also knew that there is a L'Occitane at Nagoya Station, but I discovered it while wandering aimlessly in the north of onomatopoeia. The "L'Occitane Noir" is famous, right? It costs 432 yen and is a limited-time flavor. The bitter chocolate cookie goes well with the sweet L'Occitane. I was surprised that it was actually good.

Last time I ordered a chocolate cake, so this time I went for a fruit-based one! Peach Tart for 715 yen. It was delicious with a generous amount of peach compote, but I felt it was a bit overpriced. It seems like this shop is better at chocolate cakes!

La Maison Juve is a popular patisserie in southern France. The Gion store in Kyoto has a charming exterior, renovated from a traditional townhouse. Upon entering, you will be greeted by a display of delicious sweets. There is seating available on the first floor and second floor for dining in. The showcase is filled with beautiful cakes, chocolates, baked goods, croissants, quiches, and more. The Millefeuille Praline Citron (756 yen) is a summer-inspired dessert made with almond and lemon. The flaky pastry made with fermented butter is crispy, while the refreshing lemon cream adds a cool touch to your palate.

La Maison Juve Gion Kyoto store. I didn't plan on buying anything after lunch, but my kids love Juve's sweets so much that I couldn't just walk by without stopping. I ended up buying some snacks. Strawberry mille-feuille for 778 yen, canelé for 378 yen, canelé chocolat for 432 yen. My daughter, who is currently into canelés, got two of them. My son, who loves cream, got the mille-feuille. I wasn't in the mood for sweets, so I passed. We enjoyed them at tea time at home. The cakes paired well with tea and were quite elegant. Both kids shared a piece of their cakes with me, so I got to taste them too. You can also buy them at Kyoto Station, making them quite accessible. Both the wagashi and baked goods are of high quality and delicious. I'll definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

La Maison Jouvaud in Gion, Kyoto, offers delicious French pastries. The Petit Délice au Chocolat was a delightful combination of chocolate ganache mousse and vanilla cream, perfect for chocolate lovers. The Baba au Rhum Orange Sablé had a rum-soaked charm that added a nice touch, with the option to adjust the rum flavor in the dough. The verrines and canelés were also delicious, and the croissants, quiches, and baked goods all looked promising. Although I haven't tried the Langue de Chat yet, I'm sure it will be delicious too. Overall, a delightful experience with plenty of tasty treats to enjoy. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I was lucky to find a seat on the first floor, but it quickly filled up afterward. I ordered the strawberry pie and Darjeeling tea set. The pie was delicious, but as is often the case with these types of shops, the Darjeeling tea was not very tasty and lukewarm, which was disappointing when paired with the pie. However, the atmosphere was nice, and it's a shop that's sure to appeal to women. Thank you for the meal.

If you walk on the cobblestone streets lined with traditional townhouses in Kyoto, you may suddenly come across a cake shop. The entrance is not very wide, so please be careful to find the shop! Despite the tiled roof exterior, the inside is stylishly Western. There were only about 6 types of cakes left around 4 pm. Unfortunately, the popular chocolate dome was not available as it required time for preparation. It is recommended to visit the shop more than an hour before closing if you want to try it. There are seats for about 6 people on the first and second floors. You order on the first floor and once your order is ready, you will be guided to an available seat. They offer cakes, meringue pastries, cookies, bread, chocolates, as well as bags and other merchandise. I ordered a citrus lemon cake and Darjeeling tea. It was a great choice! The cake with peel on top was light and delicious. Although it was small, it was so tasty that I didn't want to finish it too quickly. The moist cake had a rich flavor, not just a plain sponge, and the fork went in heavily. It is recommended for those who like tangy cheesecakes. I will definitely visit this shop again.

I discovered a sweets shop in the neighborhood I visited! It was a French sweets shop with a variety of colorful sweets. My daughter and wife were having a hard time deciding which one to choose. I went for the canelé. The sweets were delicious, with a moderate level of sweetness. The canelé felt like it was missing something! I found out that this shop is run by Imuraya. Thank you for the meal.

Located in Gion Shimbashi, this popular sweets shop is housed in a renovated traditional Kyoto townhouse, giving it a very Kyoto-esque atmosphere. I decided to get some desserts for takeout this time. Inside the shop, there is a wide variety of fresh sweets, baked goods, and chocolates to choose from. I ended up ordering two items:
- Soleil Cud (627 yen): A tart with brulee and apricot, topped with custard brulee. The tart had a strong apricot flavor, with a substantial crust that paired perfectly with the subtly sweet caramelized custard brulee on top. They caramelize the brulee after you order, so it takes a bit of time, but the flavor is outstanding.
- Baba Tiramisu (735 yen): A light and fluffy baba cake with a coffee liqueur syringe that you inject into the cake, allowing the coffee flavor to spread throughout. When you cut into it, the cake oozes with deliciousness. Beneath the whipped cream, there is custard and syrup-soaked raisins. The perfect balance of coffee bitterness and aroma, combined with the smooth sweetness of the cream and custard, creates an addictive taste. These desserts have a sophisticated, adult feel to them, with just the right amount of sweetness that makes them easy to enjoy. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is fantastic, and I already have my eye on other items to try next time. I will definitely be coming back!

Visiting Gion in Kyoto for gourmet delights. La Maison Juveur is located along the charming Shinbashi Street, near Gion Shijo Station on the Keihan Railway. Gion Shinbashi is said to be the birthplace of Gion. This area along Shinbashi Street and the south side of Shirakawa, with its narrow streets, has been designated as an "Important Traditional Building Preservation District." The main store of La Maison Juveur, known for its elegant atmosphere, is actually located in Hiroo, Tokyo. But the Gion branch is equally lovely, blending the old with the new beautifully. The interior is also charming, with a mix of traditional and modern elements. The menu is delightful too. I ordered a set with strawberry cream puff and hot coffee (1100 yen including tax). The custard filling in the cream puff is rich and moist, perfectly balanced with the light whipped cream. The almonds sprinkled on top add a nice crunchy texture and aroma. Overall, it's a delicious experience, both in terms of taste and ambiance.
