After enjoying a delicious Italian meal at the restaurant SCALAE in Hotel The Thousand Kyoto, we took a stroll in front of Kyoto Station at night. We went shopping at Seijo Ishii in Kotchika Kyoto inside Kyoto Station. We bought a pack of strawberries (Amaou) for 1,190 yen plus tax, Kyoto Brewing One Meeting One Season can for 579 yen plus tax, and Kyoto Brewing One Mind IPA can for 629 yen plus tax. Seijo Ishii caters to both the request of a woman who always needs fruits nearby and a man who always needs beer nearby. "That beer is expensive." "...Even if you combine two, it's still cheaper than your strawberries. (chuckles)" After exchanging some unnecessary banter, we headed back to our hotel room. When in Kyoto, you must try Kyoto craft beer. Kyoto Brewing was established in 2015, specializing in Belgian and American style craft beer. "One Meeting One Season" is their classic Saison style beer, a combination of Belgian yeast and American and New Zealand hops, with a light and easy-to-drink flavor. "One Mind IPA" is an IPA made with Belgian yeast and American hops, with a citrusy and vibrant taste, and a mild bitterness. Oh wait, when I calculated it, the beer is actually more expensive than the strawberries? =͟͟͞͞(꒪ᗜ꒪ ‧̣̥̇)Oops.

I'm doing some light shopping at Seijo Ishii. How about buying some sweets to take home? The sweets at Seijo Ishii are really nice, with many homemade options. Let's see what to get this time. Oh, the coffee jelly looks delicious. It seems to be a coffee jelly in the style of affogato, an Italian dessert where espresso is poured over ice cream. It's topped with anglaise sauce and cream. It must be delicious. And indeed, it was delicious. As expected from Seijo Ishii.

The store shelves are lined with various food items such as crispy crepes, salted butter caramel galettes, pies, slightly walnut scones, fermented butter croissants... and others. I purchased the 10 times extra spicy ginger ale. 10 times the ginger flavor! Spicy! Super rich! My head is filled with ginger, uuuhhh! The next time, I plan to purchase the 10 times extra spicy ginger ale again.

I was curious about the taste of the Basque cheesecake from Seijo Ishii, so I stopped by Kotchika Kyoto. As the name suggests, it is located underground at JR Kyoto Station, making it convenient to visit. This time, I purchased one Basque cheesecake. I made the payment using electronic money. I immediately tried the Basque cheesecake. Just like the popular premium cheesecake from Seijo Ishii, it was rich and quite delicious. I would like to try something different next time.

I happened to stop by Seijo Ishii and found a delicious premium cheesecake, so I bought it. The rich cheesecake with streusel, almonds, and raisins mixed together perfectly. I never expected to encounter such a delicious cheesecake.

Early January 2020. I revisited Seijo Ishii in Kyoto Station's underground shopping area, Kotochika. The store was filled with foreigners carrying suitcases, and I bought two types of cheese, sparkling apple juice, and soy chips. The cheeses were Cheddar for 517 yen and Mozzarella for 495 yen. The Cheddar had a reddish color, possibly from paprika, and was easy to eat. The Mozzarella was slightly softer. The sparkling apple juice cost 430 yen and had a fizzy sensation that was enjoyable. Opening the bottle was a bit thrilling. The soy chips in Aosa vinegar flavor cost 620 yen and were from Bioclub. They came in small bags and had a crunchy texture like a snack. Although a bit pricey, I hope the price will decrease with mass production. The store is conveniently located near the station and accepts gift cards, but it can get very crowded. Overall, it was a good dining experience. Thank you. Seijo Ishii Kotochika Kyoto Store 075-353-3305 Kyoto City, Shimogyo-ku, Higashi-shiokoji-cho, near the Kyoto Station Central Exit 1.

In late December 2019, the day before the Nara Marathon, I revisited Seijo Ishii at Kyoto Station. The store was somewhat crowded even though it was night. I bought a slice of Gouda cheese as an energy source, hoping it would help me avoid fatigue during the marathon. Here is a food report from the Nara Marathon: I did not get tired during the race thanks to the Gouda cheese. Thank you for the meal.

In late October 2019, I revisited Seijo Ishii located in the underground area of Kyoto Station from the morning. I bought two bottles of pressed juice and enjoyed them on the train during my journey to avoid dehydration in the still hot weather. The flavors were Watermelon and Guava Berry Soy, costing around 800 yen in total. The Watermelon juice had a strong watermelon flavor with a sweeter taste, while the Guava Berry Soy had a color reminiscent of acai and a fruity aroma with a soy milk base. It helped quench my thirst during the trip. Thank you for the meal.

Here at Narajo Ishii in Narajo, there are so many different ingredients and foods that I can't help but stop by. From the premium cheesecake featured on TV to all the other products that I have never seen before. Today, I tried the Fukui Mizuyokan that I had once before and it was delicious. It has a smooth and elegant texture that I crave even in the winter. It's not too sweet and comes in a small box, perfect for enjoying alone. And since I was already here, I also got some wine snacks. Don't you ever feel like eating smoked foods for no reason? Quail eggs are particularly like that! There were also various smoked foods available, so I'll try them next time.

This time, at Nozomi's banquet, we enjoyed a Japanese-style theme. We had an abundance of mackerel sushi from Kaki Sen, paired with Tamano Hikari's junmai sake from Fushimi, Kyoto. The mackerel sushi included Kaki Sen's signature stick sushi, grilled mackerel sushi, and mackerel sushi wrapped in persimmon leaves, providing a satisfying amount. The junmai sake, even though it was in a paper pack, contained 2.5 cups worth, and by the time we passed Nagoya, our excitement had increased. To fully enjoy the Japanese theme next time, it might be a good idea to prepare a masu. All purchases were made at Seijo Ishii Kyoto Kotochika store.

Today's menu consisted of cocktail shrimp, marinated olives, smoked beef tongue, and JACOBSCREEK Shiraz Cabernet wine from Australia. I initially thought about pairing the cocktail shrimp with red wine, but found that the marinated olives and sun-dried tomatoes went better with the red wine. As usual, I hopped on from Kyoto and by the time I arrived in Nagoya, I was in a good mood, enjoying a leisurely dinner while speeding towards Tokyo. I purchased the items from my usual store, Seijo Ishii, at the Kotchika Kyoto store.

Okonomiyaki is a dish where you can consume half of your daily vegetables in one serving. It's not just delicious, but also a great way to get your veggies in.

I haven't found a solution for the wine glass yet, so today's main items are Belgian beer, Hugarten, and fresh spring rolls. I purchased them all at Seijo Ishii Kotchika Kyoto store. Continuing from last week, I am challenging myself with carefully selected ingredients to create a bar-like atmosphere on the Nozomi train. I have been hooked on recreating home drinking on the Shinkansen train lately. Let's definitely solve the wine glass solution.

In April 2018, I visited "Seijo Ishii Kotochika Kyoto Store" for the first time, located in Porta near Kyoto Station. They offer a variety of bento boxes, side dishes, dairy products, beer, wine, and more. I purchased some Sata Andagi (400 yen) from Agitakeya in Kagoshima, and the "Saba-zukushi" sushi set (around 700 yen) from Kakisen. Both were delicious. The Sata Andagi was sweet in flavor, which may appeal to many, but personally I prefer a more subtle taste with a stronger fish flavor. The "Saba-zukushi" sushi set was excellent, with a variety of mackerel sushi options to enjoy. I would definitely consider buying this again.

Once again, I found myself drawn to Seijo Ishii as usual. The location is convenient, right in front of the subway station, making it easy to stop by. As a result, there was a long line at the checkout counter! This time, I added some snacks to go with my beer and also bought some tea. I got the 24-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano, which has a crunchy texture and rich flavor that pairs well with alcohol. Thanks to this, my beer went down smoothly. I also purchased Paradise Tea, which I see in many places.

My rating is 4.0 [Food/Taste 4.0, Service -, Atmosphere -, Value for Money 4.0, Drinks -]. Kotochika is a small underground shopping area in Karasuma Shijo, with a somewhat common name. Inside, you'll find Seijo Ishii, which has been there since opening. The store area is very small, making it a bit difficult to shop comfortably. However, the variety of products is still interesting, and it seems like smaller stores put more thought into their selection. Today, I bought cheese (Stilton from England) and bread (walnut bread) for just over 1000 yen. I enjoyed them at home, and the quality was good.

I bought some alcohol here on my way back from Kyoto. The shrimp cocktail in the photo is delicious and the shells are already peeled, making it easy to eat. I like it a lot! The red sauce is salsa sauce, and when I eat at home, I mix it with mayonnaise, which is also delicious! When I get a little hungry, I sometimes stop by the Subway near this store, but Seijo Ishii has a lot of side dishes and bento boxes. On this day, Subway was crowded, so I bought a variety of things here instead! Alcohol, shrimp cocktail, rice balls, prosciutto, etc.! Sometimes I get tired and fall asleep on the way back on the Shinkansen, but I also like to enjoy a mini party (quietly cheers) with this.

After exiting the underground east side exit of JR Kyoto Station, you will come across a chain supermarket that gives off a distinctly out-of-place "just arrived from Tokyo" vibe. It made me feel a bit sentimental about finally reaching Kyoto. I wondered if they had brought anything from Tokyo, so I decided to stop by. The main display at the store was persimmon leaf mackerel sushi... Well, I was a bit peckish so I got the 3-piece pack for 333 yen and tried it. It was just regular persimmon leaf mackerel sushi. Nothing special. It made me feel like, "Wait, is this really 100 yen per piece?" Overall, I don't think it's a must-visit spot just because you're in Kyoto, unless you're a fan of Seijo Ishii's brand.

I had been curious about it for a while, so I decided to visit the Cotica store of Seijo Ishii after seeing it introduced on TV. There are several stores in Kyoto, but I visited this store. The store's feature, as introduced on TV, is that they have a wide variety of products, use top-quality ingredients, and have chefs who are former cooks. They seem to be putting a lot of effort into it. I bought their most popular item, the Premium Cheesecake. Honestly, I underestimated it until I tasted it, but it turned out to be incredibly rich and delicious with a strong cheese flavor. I can understand why it is the top seller, as it doesn't lose to existing cheesecake stores in terms of taste.

I visited this shop located in front of the ticket gates of Kyoto Municipal Subway on my way back from Kyoto in late May 2015. I passed by at lunchtime and saw many cheap and delicious-looking bento boxes lined up, which caught my attention. I was looking for side dishes for dinner. Mackerel sushi for 899 yen was made with thick mackerel from Ishinomaki Port, and although the vinegar rice was slightly sour, the quality of the mackerel passed the test at this price. Nutty Yangnyeom chicken (sweet and spicy fried chicken) for 499 yen had a crispy texture with nuts and just the right amount of spiciness, making it perfect as a beer snack. The two-nut and fried pumpkin salad for 380 yen also had a crispy texture from the nuts and the sweet pumpkin went well with the tangy dressing. In the evening, when I was feeling lazy to cook dinner or couldn't decide what to eat, I think this place is convenient. The items were packed with ice packs and the checkout was quick and polite. They also have other products that have been featured on TV (such as cakes) and delicious-looking ham. It seems that regular convenience stores and supermarkets can also be used, making Kyoto Station quite convenient.
