I stayed at Yunohana Onsen Keisankaku and had dinner at a nearby restaurant. The sashimi, steamed dish, abalone, and other dishes were all delicious and carefully prepared. The main course was a comparison of different types of beef, such as Kameoka beef, Tanba beef, and Kyoto beef, each with its own unique characteristics. The dessert was a nightingale manju. I enjoyed trying a variety of dishes in small portions, and the meal lasted about 1 hour. I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I visited "Keisankaku," one of the ryokans in Yunohana Onsen, about 30 minutes by car from Kyoto city. Although I was born and raised in Kyoto, it was my first time visiting Yunohana Onsen. At the end of the year, my family and I went for lunch and hot springs. The adults had the seasonal kaiseki meal (6380 yen including tax) and the children had the children's lunch (3300 yen including tax). Since dining here allows access to the Keisankaku hot springs, we brought our own towels (rental towels are also available for a fee). The food was truly delicious and impressive. Keisankaku has been selected for the "Top 100 Hotels and Ryokans in Japan" for the past four years in the cuisine category, and I can see why. In particular, the crab sauce over bamboo shoot steamed bun with matsutake mushrooms was luxurious and delicious. The sake-steamed abalone was large, tender, and exquisite. The rice dish at the end was also delicious, with the crispy daikon radish being a standout. Despite feeling full, I couldn't stop eating the rice. The staff were friendly and attentive, creating a pleasant atmosphere. After the meal, I enjoyed soaking in the large outdoor hot spring bath, which was very relaxing. I highly recommend it.

I had a kaiseki meal with conger eel. There were a total of 13 dishes, all of which were delicious with a strong dashi flavor. The sashimi of biwa trout, zunda manju with anko sauce, and the grilled conger eel were particularly outstanding. The zunda manju had a nice balance of edamame flavor and gentle anko sauce. The grilled conger eel had a unique taste compared to simmered or tempura conger eel, it was a new discovery for me. The ginger rice and miso soup with Tanba black beans for the finale were just right. In the past, I found kaiseki meals to be a bit lacking, but here, both the portion size and seasoning were satisfying. It cost 8,000 yen.
