The sizzling sound coming from the kitchen is nice. The hot dog looks pretty good, and the fried egg is perfectly done. The salad portion is generous, and the sauce is tasty. I enjoyed the meal and returned the tray self-service style. They also seem to sell muffins at the counter. It's a nice find off the main street.

Even in the unfamiliar Fushimi area of Kyoto, I wandered around without a plan and stumbled upon a bright and cheerful cafe called Natty Express in Fukakusa Shotengai. It seemed like a good place for a quick breakfast, with morning toast on the menu. This place appeared to be a muffin shop, with a variety of muffins displayed at the storefront. The owner, a rugged-looking uncle, managed the place with a humble demeanor. The cafe space had a nice layout with tables and music-related goods displayed on wooden shelves. I chose the toast, salad, and fried egg set for breakfast. The fried egg and bacon were crispy, and the salad was served in a deep bowl. The toast was thick, crispy on the outside, and had a soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. I loved it. The coffee was rich and flavorful. The self-service concept allowed for a peaceful dining experience. This toast definitely ranks high on my list of morning toasts. The cafe was a great recommendation for a morning meal during a visit to Fushimi.
