"Mango Orange", "Tarte au Berry", and "Earth". Earth is a cheesecake with a refreshing taste, balanced with a hint of acidity. Mango Orange and Tarte au Berry are tarts, both showcasing the rich flavors of fruits and with a firm tart crust that tart lovers would appreciate. Despite its small size, the shop offers a wide variety of sweets, making it a must-visit place where you'll be spoiled for choice.

There were many customers at a Western-style confectionery shop in Maizuru that sells delicious cakes, baked goods, and sweets. There is a parking lot in front and beside the shop. I went to buy some souvenirs of sweets. This time, I tried the fruit madeleine financiers with Maizuru tea. I had the financiers, which were moist and flavorful with a rich buttery taste, and they were delicious! The visual of the fruit madeleines is also nice, as they contain pieces of fruit. They are also delicious with a good flavor. They also mentioned that the Maizuru tea was delicious. I would like to try their cakes as well.

Patisserie Boulangerie in Maizuru City offers a variety of Western-style sweets and bread. Maizuru Akarenga CUBE (Orange) is a type of baked confectionery. It comes in a small box inspired by Maizuru's symbol, the red brick building (former storage warehouse of the Maizuru Naval Base), with a cube-shaped cake inside. The cake is moist and rich, with the sweetness and slight bitterness of orange peel. It has a decent portion size. Maizuru Chat-ta is another type of baked confectionery. Essentially, it is a matcha-flavored Dacquoise. It is larger and thicker than regular Dacquoise. You can enjoy the fragrant almond powder pastry and fluffy texture. The matcha used is said to be locally sourced from Maizuru.

La Croquette Hirano is a Western confectionery shop located in Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture. Originally a traditional Japanese confectionery shop established around the Meiji era, it transitioned to a Western confectionery shop in the 1960s. The current shop, La Croquette Hirano, is the second branch of the Hirano Western confectionery shop opened in 1994 by the fourth generation owner. This shop specializes in authentic French pastries, offering unique sweets such as pound cakes inspired by Maizuru's red brick warehouses, meringue sweets made with Maizuru tea leaves, and madeleines filled with Tamba black beans. The shop is known for its original local sweets, making it a great place to find souvenirs. During a visit to Maizuru, the reviewer decided to stop by La Croquette Hirano to satisfy their cake cravings. The shop is located near Nishi-Maizuru Station, with parking available in front and beside the shop. The reviewer visited on a weekday afternoon and found the shop to be quiet, with a variety of cakes and baked goods on display. They purchased a Mont Blanc cake, an Earl Grey mousse cake, a Tamba black bean madeleine, and a Maizuru tea-flavored dacquoise. The Mont Blanc cake featured a meringue base with a creamy chestnut filling, while the Earl Grey mousse cake had a moist texture and a light sweetness. The Tamba black bean madeleine, although pricey, was large and flavorful, with a rich taste and aroma. The Maizuru tea-flavored dacquoise was a delicate treat with almond and matcha flavors. The reviewer particularly enjoyed the Tamba black bean madeleine. Overall, they were satisfied with their purchases and recommended trying both the cakes and baked goods at La Croquette Hirano.

A leisurely trip around the Tango Peninsula... starting with sweets (^ω^) I really wanted to try these black bean madeleines after reading the reviews - they were described in great detail, so my expectations were high. It's great that they open at 8 am in the morning. The black bean madeleines seemed to be the signature item, with posters outside promoting them. I resisted the temptation of the cakes and focused on the black bean madeleines. The store was spacious, with a variety of baked goods on display. The black bean madeleines were prominently placed on the shelf. I was a bit surprised by the price increase from ¥500 to ¥550 over the years, but I decided to buy five of them. The madeleines were packed with Tamba black beans and used Okinawan brown sugar in the batter, so they had to be delicious. The appearance of the madeleines was impressive with black beans on the surface. However, upon cutting them, I realized that the black beans were only on the surface, which was a bit disappointing. The texture was moist and the salt level was just right, very delicious. The black beans were tasty too, but I felt like it was a bit extravagant for personal consumption. It would make a good gift or souvenir though. There were also cute gift sweets available. My partner tried the duck wafers and said they were delicious. Overall, the madeleines were good but expensive. I would like to try their cakes next time.

Kyoto Maizuru souvenir. At La Crochette, there were various cakes in the cake showcase, but the first one that caught my eye was this cake, the Chocolat Entremet. It was cute and just the right size, so I chose this without hesitation. It was a simple cake with only chocolate cream and sponge, but the fluffy cream and firm sponge texture were very to my liking and it was a delicious cake. I would like to eat it again. #Nagoya Gourmet #Nagoya Cafe #Nagoya Lunch #Nagoya Dinner #Nagoya Sweets #Nagoya Cake #Nagoya Parfait #Maizuru Gourmet #Maizuru Cafe #Maizuru Lunch #Maizuru Parfait #Maizuru Cake #Maizuru Sweets #Maizuru Dinner #Kyoto Gourmet #Kyoto Cafe #Kyoto Lunch #Kyoto Dinner #Kyoto Sweets #Kyoto Parfait #Kyoto Cake #La Crochette #La Crochette Hirano #Cake #Parfait #Sweets #Chocolat Entremet #Sweets are science #Delicious smile.

I don't eat sweet things, but I buy cakes for birthdays or souvenirs. They have a wide variety of cakes, all colorful and almost too beautiful to cut. Every place I bring them to, they are well-received and never fail to please. They have seasonal and classic cakes, so I can always rely on them throughout the year. Although they are a bit pricey, I only buy them when I have the budget. The cakes, like the one with half a melon on top, receive high praise. The only downside is the high prices and early closing time, but overall it's a great store.

When it comes to cakes in Maizuru, this place seems to be the go-to spot. A person I know from a blog had mentioned it several times, so when I visited Maizuru after a few years, I decided to try it out. It seems to be located near the Red Cross Hospital. The cakes here are quite popular, with a wide variety available, indicating a high demand. The prices are a bit on the higher side, starting at around 400 yen, which seems a bit expensive for Maizuru where land prices are usually lower. Perhaps they can afford to set higher prices due to less competition in the area. I was torn between choosing a tart or a mousse, but I opted for a mousse cake that I wanted to try. The "Toto" cake was described as inspired by the movie "New Cinema Paradise," with caramel on top and chocolate at the bottom. It tasted quite sweet, with a hint of bitterness from the chocolate. However, the caramel flavor was not very pronounced, overshadowed by the chocolate. It was not bad, but it did not meet my expectations. On the other hand, the "Monet Groseille Framboise Fraise" mousse cake, featuring a mix of sweet and sour berries, was delightful. The balance between the sweet berries on top and the subtle sweetness of the anglaise at the bottom was perfect. This cake was more to my liking and I could understand why it might be considered the number one cake in Maizuru. If I had chosen two cakes from different categories, my overall experience might have been better. Lesson learned.

I went to the shop in the evening and there were already a few cars parked. Inside the shop, there were two customers ahead of me, but there was only one staff member, so I had to wait for the first customer to finish shopping before I could buy four cakes, a roll cake, and one baked good. The price of the cakes was around 420 yen each, which was reasonable, and all the products looked vibrant, making it hard to decide which ones to buy. The major feature of the cakes here is that they are not sponge and cream-based, but many have a tart crust (similar to a cookie) with decorations on top. The taste overall was sweet, and the cookie crust had different flavors and textures depending on the decorations on top. The roll cake had fruits (strawberries, bananas, etc.), but for me, the banana flavor was too dominant, making it unbalanced. It might be recommended for those who like bananas. One thing that caught my attention was that the staff didn't ask about the time I would be taking the cakes home, and there were no ice packs in the box. I wondered if they forgot to put them in? Come to think of it, the previous customer also bought cakes and wasn't asked about the time to take them home. Are tart crust cakes resistant to temperature changes? The roll cake should be refrigerated and consumed on the same day, as indicated on the packaging, so even though the temperature was low at 8 degrees, shouldn't ice packs be included? Heating the car on the way home can speed up the degradation of the cakes. Therefore, the service is rated on the lower side.

La Crochette is probably the best cake shop in Maizuru. Some may disagree, but it's undeniable that they sell high-quality cakes. The prices are a bit high, but whenever I'm in doubt, I buy cakes from this shop. There are other places that offer cheap and delicious cakes, but La Crochette is probably the best high-end cake shop. I'd like to try the "Maizuru red bean bread" and the "black bean-filled madeleine". Maybe I'll buy cookies here for White Day?

I received a Castella Rusku as a gift. When I think of Castella Rusku, I think of the one sold at Shinagawa Station called "Kurofune Castella Rusky," but this one is from a cake shop in Maizuru, Kyoto called "La Crochette." Similar to Kurofune Rusky, it is a firm version of Castella. And it was delicious! The flavor of Castella is strong, and the texture is finer than Kurofune Rusky. The kids also enjoyed it and finished it in no time. I looked it up online and found out that it can be ordered, so I'll try ordering it next time.

From Nishimatsuru, walk along a busy street and you will find this place near the health center. At first glance, it looks like a Western confectionery shop with a selection similar to Chateraise, but the items displayed in the large showcase are clearly not your typical Western sweets. The designs and creativity put into these items may make you momentarily forget that you are in Maizuru. The variety of items, the local customers who come on foot, and the prompt restocking of the showcase when items run out all create a lively atmosphere. If you live in this area, this shop would be a satisfying everyday patisserie. The use of liquor in the products and the effort to maintain quality are evident. There are unique combinations that you may not find elsewhere, such as Nancy-style macarons among the more common Parisian ones. However, given the location in Maizuru, it seems like they may be facing some challenges. For example, several cakes have strawberries on them (which are quite tart). While there are some classic items, the mousse-based ones that are not too rich seem to stand out. In Maizuru, there are few high-quality patisseries nearby, with Patisserie Mountain in Fukuchiyama being one of the few options, and one would have to go all the way to Kyoto for more options. It must be difficult to maintain quality in such a situation (it may lead to questioning what they are really making). Nevertheless, I hope they continue to strive for authenticity. Using currants and raspberries on their framboisier is sufficient, and there is no need to use strawberries. It would be great to see them expand their range to include items like Opera, Mille-feuille, Weekend, and Canele (as I feel they have the capability). The popularity of macarons in Maizuru is thanks to their efforts, and this patisserie left a stronger impression than expected.

I visited around 11:00 on April 18, 2010. I had caught some information on a unique intelligence network that this store was pretty good. Even the pre-screening was somewhat positive, and since I happened to be in Maizuru, I decided to stop by. ● Store: 7/10 The store is located just north of Nishi-Maizuru Station, heading east on the prefectural road, then north from the Lawson near the Red Cross Hospital. If you come from the north, you can reach it by heading south from the Cosmo Oil gas station. There is parking space for about 8 cars. There is also a terrace seat right in front of the entrance. Inside the store, there is a strong smell of good butter and flour. The scent of "Patisserie Plan" was also quite strong, similar to that place, so my expectations were high. I wondered where the kitchen was, and it turned out to be attached to the north side of the store, where the pastry chef was bustling around. The store had about three sections of refrigerated cases filled with petit gateaux, with over 30 varieties, a good selection for a Sunday. There were many appealing cakes at first glance, and I wanted to buy several, but I had other places to go later, so I didn't buy any petit gateaux here. Noteworthy is that credit cards are accepted. It's rare for a store of this size to accept cards, maybe only in Kansai, besides Double Bebop and here? So, service points are elevated. ● Food: 8/10 Good value for money. I had heard that this store had quite intense flavors, not typical of a local place, and this turned out to be true. This time, I had somewhere to go, so I only bought baked goods to take with me. - Galette: ¥147, Excellent - Good value for money A large galette with a strong buttery aroma. It has a good airy texture. It's a bit on the dry side, but when you put it in your mouth, there is a rich buttery sweetness with a refreshing aftertaste. It crumbles a bit when you eat it, which may be a bit inconvenient for some, but despite that, the taste is quite good, so it's a decent choice considering the price and size. - Financier: ¥147, Excellent - Good value for money Looking at the back, you see ingredients like hazelnut powder and rock salt, not typical of a local patisserie. When you open it, there's a slightly sweet and sour aroma mixed with a buttery scent. It's well baked with a nice color. The financier here has a unique taste that I've never experienced before. It has a density and texture that feels like a lightened sweet potato rather than an airy feel. The surface feels smooth, without any roughness on the tongue. The taste has a good sweetness that is not honey-like, but more restrained and pure, giving a pleasant aftertaste. A financier with a very unique taste. Some may have mixed opinions due to the lack of airy texture, but I found a delicious and unique treat in a local place, so it's a decent choice despite the slight elevation in rating. - Goro Wafers: ¥126, Okay - Good value for money The bag of duck wafers features a picture of Maizuru's symbol, the Goro Sky Tower. The view from the Goro Sky Tower includes not only the deep coves of the Rias coast but also overlooks Maizuru's naval port and warships, making it a wonderful spot. So, as a souvenir, it's quite a good item, but when you eat it, the surface feels powdery, giving it a dry appearance that is not very appealing. However, when you taste it, the almond powder flavor is quite strong, and it also has a subtle density similar to the financier.

Near the Red Cross Hospital, there is a cake shop with a small parking space in front of the store. The interior is not very spacious, but it is filled with various baked goods. The display case is full of beautiful cakes, making it difficult to choose. I started by exploring the store with a small basket in hand. I ended up buying the "Forest Pudding," the Japanese-style cheesecake "Wind Traveler," and the regular cheesecake "Fururu Fromage." I also purchased a cake that I believe was a Chiboust and tea cake. Although I usually don't go for cakes with fruits, the elegant and sparkling appearance of the Chiboust cake caught my eye. The taste was exquisite and delicious. I would love to try other cakes in the future, especially those with plenty of fruits. I was surprised to find that the "Wind Traveler" cake had mochi inside, packed in a small body. The cakes on the pastry chef's blog looked incredibly delicious, so I would like to try more in the future.

Baked goods, cakes, and breads are all very diverse here! There are many types of cookies, including old-fashioned ones. Among them, I especially like the cheese cookies. I would like to try a pound cake, but they are a bit expensive so I haven't been able to buy one yet. When I went to buy a cake for the first time, there were so many designs to choose from that I had a hard time deciding. Although I find them a bit sweet, I think the cakes are full of a variety of fruits. When I visited close to closing time the other day, customers kept coming in one after another.

I came across this shop in Maizuru while out for a drive. In addition to cakes, they also sell baked goods and bread. The display case is filled with colorful cakes. There are both traditional and intricately decorated cakes. I have only been there twice, but I already can't wait to decide which one to buy next time. Some cakes are so unique that you can't tell what they are just by looking at them, but there are descriptions along with the names, making it fun to choose. I wish this shop was closer...

The showcase was filled with various types of wagashi, baked goods, entremets, and sugar confections. The decorations ranged from traditional to delicate, intricate designs. The taste was rich and sweet. There were many regional specialties available, making it easy for tourists to buy as souvenirs and locals to purchase as gifts with individually wrapped items displayed in boxes or baskets. The items I purchased included chiffon cake, éclair, castella, and rusk éclair au chocolat. They appeared smaller behind the showcase, but when I held them, they were large and heavy. I had a feeling they might be a bit too much, but I was surprised when I tasted them. They were all very substantial, and not something you could eat with one hand. As someone who enjoys sweet treats, I found them to be quite sweet. The choux pastry had a nice fragrance and a good texture. However, the weight of the choux, the amount of cream, and the sweetness were all heavyweight. For the chiffon cake, I wanted to try something more traditional from the shop. It had a fluffy texture, a smooth mouthfeel, and melted in my mouth perfectly. But it was still quite sweet. The castella rusk had plenty of sugar sprinkled on the castella dough. This was also very sweet. The cakes had descriptions written on them, making it easy to choose, and the variety was enjoyable to look at. Overall, the cakes were on the sweeter side, but they were still delicious.

I went to Maizuru and looked up on Tabelog for something delicious to eat, and came across this shop. It is located on the north side of the Red Cross Hospital, along a major street, so it is easy to find. The shop was filled with cakes and baked goods. It was around 4 pm on Saturday, so I thought there might not be much left, but there was still a good selection to choose from. The cream puffs were almost sold out though... I bought a cake. They all looked so delicious and colorful. I had a hard time deciding, but ended up buying the Dimanche Chiboust Eclair. The chocolate flower on top was cute. The red tea flavored mousse was just right in sweetness and very delicious. The Chiboust was quite sweet. It had a jelly-like coating that added more volume to it. The dough was also very moist, and even for someone who loves sweet things like me, it felt a bit too sweet. The Eclair was also big, around 15cm x 3cm, so you need a knife and fork to eat it because the chocolate melts easily (especially on a hot day like that). I wanted to eat it there, but they didn't have an eat-in option. The cakes were all made with great care, so they were a bit pricey. The staff was not very talkative. I wanted to ask some questions, but didn't feel like I could. However, that gave me the chance to look around slowly...
