During a business trip to Kyoto, I stayed at a hotel with a cool and stylish design. I visited the hotel bar, which was located in a quiet area and almost empty around 9pm. It had a hidden gem vibe. I found an interesting cocktail on the menu - an Old Fashioned garnished with beef jerky. They explained that using beef fat to wash the base spirits is a popular technique, so they decided to try it with beef fat. The cocktail had a unique flavor with a hint of beef, and it really smoothed out the bourbon. I will definitely visit this place again!

Dawa Yuaku Kyoto Halloween Afternoon Tea is a luxury hotel with a modern Japanese atmosphere, located directly connected to Keihan Sanjo Station! From September 16th (Saturday) to a limited time, you can enjoy autumn flavors and Halloween-themed afternoon tea. The tea foods are inspired by monsters, with cute eyes and cute ghosts that will make you fall in love. 【Welcome Drink】 - Witch's Brew 【Cake Stand】 - Top Tier - ・ Cassis Opera ・ Mont Blanc Tart ・ Apple Red Wine Jelly - Middle Tier - ・ Western Pear Mascarpone ・ Financier Fig ・ Bonbon Chocolat ・ Tomato Chutney and Roast Ham Open Sandwich - Bottom Tier - ・ Sweet Shrimp and Beet Potato Salad Tart ・ Mussel and Saffron Baked Risotto ・ Pumpkin and Soy Milk Cold Soup with Red Onion Pickles and Smoked Salmon ・ Purple Vegetable and Purple Sweet Potato Hummus 【Drinks】 - Ronnefeldt tea, herbal tea - Flavored coffee using Illy coffee beans from Italy, *Varieties changed for free flow The first thing I reached for was the Mont Blanc Tart! The "big eyes" and "witch's hat" are eye-catching. The Mont Blanc cream is made from Western chestnuts, giving it a chewy and rich sweetness. Ah, the taste of autumn is so blissful. Dawa's cakes are very delicate and beautiful, and the Opera is one of them. This time, the afternoon tea is overall themed in purple. The Opera has a refreshing taste with cassis and a Bordeaux-colored red wine jelly in the glass, with small pieces of apple for a crunchy texture. There are also sweets in the middle tier, with a white cake made of Western pear mousse and mascarpone, so it's not too sweet and very delicious. The financier is topped with autumn fruits (figs). The Bonbon Chocolat is also Halloween-themed. There is one savory item in the middle tier, the Frankenstein open sandwich! The appearance is very heartwarming. The savory items in the bottom tier include a purple salad? I'm impressed that there are so many purple vegetables! Purple vegetables are rich in anthocyanins, so it's great for women. Under the vegetables is hummus (chickpea paste), so dipping the vegetables in it is exquisite. The mussels are topped on saffron rice baked risotto. It's stylish and delicious. The soup in the gold-colored cup is, of course, pumpkin since it's Halloween. The pink tart is made of pink potatoes dyed with beets, and it's a delicious potato salad without any peculiar taste. There are also shrimp at the bottom of the tart. The drinks include various types of tea, herbal tea, coffee, etc., with the option to change varieties for free refills. There are also unique flavored coffees like caramel latte and amaretto latte, so please try ordering a variety of drinks. The hotel building has a bamboo forest inside, which is calming to look at. It's also a great spot for taking photos, so enjoy Dawa Yuaku Kyoto in your own way. 📅 September 16, 2023 (Saturday) to October 31, 2023 (Tuesday) 📍 84 Ohashi-cho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City ⏰ 12:00-17:00 * Start times are 12:00-/13:00-/14:00-/15:00- (all 2-hour sessions, last entry at 15:00) * Free flow for 2 hours (last order 30 minutes before closing) 💴 6,000 yen per person (including tax) ☎️ 075-366-5800

I visited for afternoon tea. They had a summer limited collaboration afternoon tea set. I think it was a well-balanced afternoon tea with a good mix of sweetness, including traditional Japanese sweets. The price was quite reasonable compared to the usual high-end hotel afternoon teas, and considering the taste, it was definitely high value for money.

Located within walking distance from Sanjo Keihan Station, Kawaramachi Hankyu Station, and Shijo Karasuma Hankyu Station, is the stylish Lounge & Bar 1867 Modern at Dawa Yura. The cozy interior features sofas where you can relax and unwind. I made a reservation in advance for their Afternoon Tea, which can be conveniently booked online. From May 1 to June 30, 2023, they are offering the "Alice in Kyoto with Kameya Yoshinaga" Afternoon Tea set for 5000 yen, tax included. The set includes a welcome drink of Japanese hare hojicha with soy milk, black bean powder, and caramel syrup. The sweets selection features Kameya Yoshinaga's Kifune River Jelly Momo (a baked confection with buntan and lemon) and baked Hozui (meringue). From Dawa Yuraku Kyoto, the pastry selection includes "Eat me" pistachio lemon macaron, Queen Cherry meringue, and Blackberry hibiscus. For savory items, they offer sweet shrimp, shiso, yuzu miso spring rolls, marinated mackerel with potato and herb dill cream, pork rillettes with apricot in a rice cake, tortilla with roast beef, spring cabbage, and cocktail sauce. The drink menu includes unlimited black tea, coffee, latte, and more, served in a glass exchange system where you can order as many drinks as you like. The menu changes with the seasons, so I recommend visiting again to try their new offerings.

We were invited by a friend for a wedding celebration, so my husband and I went together. It was a spring-themed afternoon tea with cherry blossoms and strawberries. Each dish and sweet treat was like a carefully crafted jewel box, not only delicious but also visually stunning. There were many blends of black tea and rooibos tea to choose from, which made the decision exciting. The hotel seemed to have many foreign tourists staying, but the lounge where we were had many women in kimonos. Despite the last-minute reservation, the service was very warm and the relaxed atmosphere was enjoyable. I would love to stay at this lovely hotel next time.

Compared to the bustling business district of Shijo-Karasuma and the traditional area of Gion, the neighborhood around Sanjo Keihan station may seem a bit understated. However, the BAR at Dawa Yuraku Kyoto, a conveniently located hotel near Sanjo Keihan station, offers a high-quality experience. Despite being a rebranded hotel with a small scale and a modest bar area next to the front desk, the interior is stylish and welcoming, with a beautifully lit bar counter. I tried the Negroni, which was consistently good, and they also offer a selection of original cocktails. The ambiance is reminiscent of the bar at The Ritz-Carlton Osaka, and the slow jazz background music adds to the cozy atmosphere. Overall, I believe this bar would be a great choice for a date night or a hidden gem to enjoy a drink.

Afternoon tea at a hotel, the first time since returning to Kansai. I found out that the Banyan Tree hotel group, Dawa Yu Kyoto, has afternoon tea at their bar, so I went there with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. The bar is called Lounge & Bar 1867, located close to the station and seems like a nice place to enjoy tea in a calm setting. The hotel, Dawa Yu Kyoto, is a boutique hotel that beautifully blends modern design with Japanese tradition, offering a stylish and exciting afternoon tea experience. The January afternoon tea featured winter fruits such as strawberries, oranges, and yuzu, with a welcome drink of Ronnefeldt tea mocktail. The afternoon tea includes a selection of sweets and savory items, with a choice of teas ranging from Darjeeling to Irish Malt. The strawberry tart and savory dishes like sea bream with strawberries and turnips, steamed chicken with strawberries and sesame miso quiche were particularly unique and well-balanced. The use of seasonal ingredients like strawberries, yuzu, and matcha added a touch of Kyoto's charm to the experience. The coffee available, made with 100% Arabica beans from Italy's illy Espresso, was also a delightful option for those who prefer a rich and robust flavor. The refined and elegant desserts, available for dine-in or takeout, were reasonably priced for hotel standards. Overall, the quality of the food and the relaxed atmosphere made for a pleasant afternoon tea experience.

Met up with a friend who lives in Kansai at a retro-modern lounge & bar called LOUNGE & BAR 1867, named after the year of the Great Restoration in Japan. Our main purpose was to enjoy the seasonal afternoon tea prepared by pastry chef Jenny Chu. In January, they offered the "Strawberry Fest Celebration" afternoon tea set for 5000 yen including tax, which came with free-flowing premium German tea from Ronnefeldt. We started with the popular herbal tea "Sunshine Lady" (a blend of Ceylon, sunflower, safflower, and cornflower) and enjoyed warm tea throughout the experience. The tea set featured a variety of sweets and savories made with winter fruits like strawberries, oranges, and yuzu. The portion sizes were just right, and the use of strawberries in the savory items was subtle yet delicious. We also tried their carefully selected 100% Arabica espresso beans from Italy for our coffee, enjoying a cappuccino followed by a black coffee. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing, leaving us fully satisfied. The staff provided attentive service, adding to the overall positive experience. After looking into other available plans, we decided that we would definitely be returning for more in the future!

Sunday 15:00 Lounge & Bar 1867/Dawa Yuraku Kyoto. This review is also available on YouTube on the mog and mog channel. The place has a chic interior with a luxurious feel, even though it is partially underground and does not have a garden. The bar counter is particularly eye-catching. The welcome tea from Yagisakuraen with matcha was a nice touch. The three-tiered pottery filled with food includes savory items, hotel sweets, and sweets from Kameya Yoshinaga in collaboration. The cocktails and teas were all beautifully presented and delicious, almost like works of art. The savory items were surprisingly tasty, and the desserts, both hotel-made and from Kameya Yoshinaga, were beautifully crafted and exceeded expectations. The afternoon tea experience was quite lovely, and I look forward to returning when the seasons change. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

A shop located across from DAWA. During the day, you can enjoy cakes and afternoon tea. At night, you can have drinks and light snacks. Unfortunately, I couldn't try the afternoon tea as it required a reservation, but the cakes are definitely a must-try! The fruit tart is overflowing with figs and grapes. The hazelnuts and milk chocolate combination is exquisite, with the perfect sweetness of milk chocolate and the nutty flavor blending beautifully. The cake and drink set cost 1500 yen, which is quite a good deal.

At the bar lounge of Kyoto Yuuraku Hotel M Gallery, I was intrigued by the original cocktails that incorporated ingredients evoking a sense of Japanese and Kyoto culture, such as matcha and bonito flakes. Ultimately, I decided to try one of the original cocktails that wasn't necessarily Japanese. I ordered the Alegre Palomin, which is a variation of the popular Paloma cocktail made with tequila and grapefruit juice. This version included tequila infused with jasmine tea, grapefruit juice, tonic water, and pineapple juice, topped with a decorative flower. It was cute and easy to drink, but being tequila-based, I made sure to enjoy it in moderation. Thank you for the meal.

I made a reservation at Hitoyasumi.com restaurant. I reserved the full set of 9 items for the Afternoon Tea Set. There is also a High Tea Set with 11 items available. Reservations can also be made on Tabelog. Since I also planned to have lunch this time and didn't need that much food, I opted for the smaller set. It was a 3-tier afternoon tea set with a Halloween theme in October. The drinks were all-you-can-drink. Surprisingly, the plates were transparent except for the bottom one. The items included grape, pumpkin macaron, yuzu and ginger lollipop, black sesame pudding, white sesame cream, chestnut Mont Blanc, blueberry and fig opera, chicken burrata cheese with eggplant and dried tomato, salmon marinated with persimmon, celery, and walnuts, carrot mousse with orange and cumin, consomme jelly, cake salad with bacon, broccoli, pumpkin, and almonds. For drinks, you could choose from coffee, tea, or coffee mocktails. The coffee mocktail was a non-alcoholic coffee cocktail with a flavor and aroma that complemented the latte. The one in the photo was a roasted chestnut mocktail, which was delicious with a chestnut flavor.

After seeing the HP, I had always wanted to visit this hotel because the atmosphere seemed lovely. The high tea set included foie gras, lobster, and crab cake, all of which are my favorites, so I was excited to make a reservation. Since it was a weekday, there were hardly any people, and I was able to relax and enjoy a leisurely time. The crab cake was paired with yuzu pepper, and the hamon serrano was combined with summer orange and mustard mayonnaise, incorporating elements of Japanese cuisine and adding originality to the delicious dishes. The sweets also had a touch of Japanese influence, such as matcha and Kyoto chestnut macarons and grape sansho opera, which added accents and prevented them from being too sweet. The free-flowing drinks included mocktails, which was a nice touch. However, there were so many tempting drinks that you might end up drinking too much and getting full. Usually, I struggle to finish an afternoon tea, but the balance and quantity of savory and sweet items here were just right, and I would love to visit again. The lack of people also allowed me to have a nice conversation with the hotel staff, who provided very attentive service.

Returning to the same place just 2 days later... Tonight's dinner spot was a 5-6 minute walk away, so we decided to stop by for a pre-dinner drink and take advantage of the Happy Hour. We arrived at 15:50, with no other customers present. We sat at the same counter seats as last time. We tried the following 3 drinks: ① Lady in Bloom ② Manhattan ③ Ohmi Beef Old Fashioned. Here are our thoughts on each drink: ① The Master's original No.1, which seems to be the signature cocktail here. A well-balanced drink with a hint of coconut flavor, acidity, and sweetness. ② The Master mentioned that the drink doesn't have much aroma when chilled, so cocktails with whisky or brandy are aerated (similar to the scene in a detective drama where tea is brewed). A fruity yet elegant drink with a subtle alcohol kick. ③ The Master's original No.2, a great deal with whisky-soaked Ohmi beef jerky (snack) included. The whisky with syrup had a slight sweetness. The Master, who caught our attention last time, turned out to be a talented young bartender (in his 20s?) who has placed 3rd in the national competition of the Japanese Bartenders Association for 3 consecutive years. He will be participating in the senior competition from this year onwards, and we look forward to seeing more of his skills. We left at 17:15 and headed to the dinner spot...

I visited this stylish cafe & bar located in the basement of the Accor hotel "Kyoto Yuraku Hotel M Gallery", just a few minutes walk east from Sanjo Station on the Keihan Line. It was my first experience at a hotel bar, and there were 6 customers in total when I arrived. The atmosphere was impressive, with a silver pine tree decoration at the hotel entrance, a bamboo grove with skylights in the middle, and an open and stylish interior. The name "1867" signifies the year of the "Great Restoration of Imperial Rule", and the establishment is designed to evoke the feel of the Meiji to Taisho era. The cocktail menu was on the pricier side, with original cocktails priced between 1700 to 2500 yen. I tried two drinks: 1. A vodka and coffee-based cocktail with three types of chocolate bonbons, and 2. A unique cocktail created by the 31-year-old master bartender. The second drink was more carefully crafted and had a refreshing citrus flavor added to the brandy. The difference in quality between the two drinks was significant, so I will reserve my judgment for now. I plan to revisit during Happy Hour (1600-1900) when drinks are half price. Overall, it was an interesting experience and I look forward to returning for another visit.

I went to a wonderful hotel that made me regret not knowing about it before. Located in Sanjo, Kyoto, the Kyoto Yuuraku M Gallery is an interesting hotel that aims to be the ultimate destination for women. As soon as you enter, you are struck by the impact. Bamboo trees planted in the central area are visible from the open ceiling, creating a natural art with light coming in through the glass ceiling. The hotel's Lounge & Bar 1867 offers an Afternoon Tea that changes every 2 months. Currently, from March 3 to April 30, they are hosting a limited-time event called "Strawberry and Cherry Blossom Spring Afternoon Tea." The set includes savory items like Tuna and Mascarpone with spring vegetables on a potato waffle, as well as Salmon Marinade with apple compote and trout roe. The dessert selection includes treats like Strawberry Shortcake and Sakura and Strawberry Opera, served on a bamboo tea stand that complements the interior. I also tried the Chocolate and Cocktail set, featuring a theme of coffee and tea for the chocolates. You can choose from a set of 3 or 5 chocolates paired with a cocktail. Non-alcoholic options are available, such as the Non-alcoholic Roasted Chestnut Latte. Overall, this hotel offers a unique experience with delicious Afternoon Tea, chocolates, and cocktails in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended!

I didn't know about this wonderful place for a lovely afternoon tea! In April 2019, a hotel brand with over 100 facilities worldwide, the M Gallery, opened a hotel just a short walk from Sanjo Station. M Gallery is a boutique hotel brand that values the stories of various cultures and histories, with over 100 locations worldwide, and each hotel is unique. Kyoto is the first location in Japan. Upon entering, you will find a fusion of Japanese and Western elements in a space that symbolizes the bamboo forest and overall Western mood, reminiscent of the modernism of the Meiji and Taisho eras. The afternoon tea can be enjoyed at the bar named after the year of the Restoration of Imperial Rule, [1867], which is open to non-guests as well. The setting is like a classic and somewhat modern, elegant salon with chic and cute afternoon tea sets. The luxurious menu includes 5 sweets, 4 savories, and a selection of teas from Ronnefeldt, with free refills. Additionally, there is a high tea set with two savory items using rich ingredients for an extra charge. The Valentine's Afternoon Tea Set at Lounge and Bar 1867 features unique and delicious items, including savory dishes and sweets with a story behind each creation. The drinks are also carefully selected to complement the experience. The atmosphere is elegant and the service is excellent at Kyoto Yura Hotel M Gallery, making it a perfect spot for a delightful afternoon tea experience.

I encountered a very lovely afternoon tea at Lounge&Bar1867 at Kyoto Yuraku Hotel M Gallery♡ Located in Sanjo Keihan in Kyoto, the Kyoto Yuraku Hotel M Gallery is like a hidden gem. The exterior looks chic, making you think only guests staying there can enter, but that's not the case. Once you step inside, you'll find a space that you couldn't imagine from the outside. The relaxing scent that envelops the entire lobby... The interior, inspired by the lives of Meiji-era nobility and aristocrats, is gorgeous and chic, creating a very calming atmosphere. The bar, Lounge&Bar1867, named after the year of the Meiji Restoration, is actually highly recommended for afternoon tea. Until February 2020, the limited-time "Valentine's Afternoon Tea" is a vibrant afternoon tea featuring plenty of chocolate and strawberries! The afternoon tea stand with an oriental beauty made of bamboo, glass plates, and Rosenthal tea sets... everything is meticulously chosen. The menu, created by a chef who honed his skills at renowned hotels in Tokyo, has a story behind each item that you'd want to savor one by one. Starting from the top tier, there are sweet treats that make you feel like love is beginning. ● Angel Macaron, ● Cupid's Arrow, ● Lemon Tart, ● Small Strawberry Chocolate Tablet The sweet and sour lemon tart with the texture of rose-flavored meringue is very good. The heart-shaped chocolate pierced by Cupid's arrow has a gooey caramel lime ganache inside. In the middle tier, the ● Opera Rose is a representation of a calm love. I love this one! The combination of the sweet and sourness of strawberries and the scent of roses is delightful! ● Ruby Chocolate Fondue Ruby chocolate fondue with a hint of the season's strawberries. The simplicity allows you to taste the juiciness of the strawberries. The savory items are also outstanding. They remind you of a mature relationship and make you want to pair them with alcohol. ● Piperade Artichoke Jamon Serrano Tuna wrapped in ham with a spicy ratatouille-like mixture. ● Shrimp Cucumber Dill Cream ● Pork Belly Seasoned with Salt Koji Persimmon Compote ● Quiche Parmesan Cheese Truffle Kujo Green Onion A soft and rare quiche. The scent of truffle is so strong that it's luxurious. With such a lineup, and with free-flowing drinks, tea is served in Ronnefeldt teapots with pot warmers. Coffee is from illy, and it includes coffee cocktails created with originality like a bartender would make. All of this for 2800 yen (excluding tax)! Great atmosphere, great menu, great drinks. I heard they will introduce a cherry blossom afternoon tea in spring, so I'm curious...♡ I will definitely visit again! Thank you for the wonderful meal.
